All 3 were crispy and perfect. Best tacos ever!!! All the add-ons were extremely fresh too: spicy pickled onions, shopped raw onions, cilantro, spicy creamy pepper sauce. So after this "taste test" on a Sunday morning, we decided to hire Viva Birria NJ for a backyard party we were having in May. Part II: The Party Tent...So, they set up a tent in the driveway. Donovan and his assistant were awesome! Totally prepared; super friendly; The food smelled and tasted so good. Everyone loved it. We had tacos & queso birria tacos and also added Mexican Street Corn ( in a cup). They grilled all the fresh corn, seasoned it, shaved it off the cob and had a big hot pot of it to make individual portions in cups. Plenty of fresh queso fresca was there to use as well. Best of all, Donovan gave us everything that wasn't eaten so we had plenty of tacos for days! It turns out that the quesadillas come with three per order, which wasn't specified because we definitely did not need three of each of these. Had we known, we would have ordered less food. None of it was very good. Everything kind of just tasted the same. A little bland, dry, and chewy. The tortillas in the quesadillas were also dry and chewy. I didn't even bother with the chicken from the grilled chicken plate because it looked really tough. Maybe that's what they were microwaving in the back. Nothing really tastes fresh and just tastes like they make one giant batch at some point and use it throughout the week. I really wanted to like this place and was hoping it would be our new go-to for tacos/Mexican but unfortunately, the entire experience just missed the mark by a long shot.

When I started eating I noticed there was no chicharrón but I kept going thinking I was encounter it soon. I got halfway through the bolon and found all the chicharrón had been packed in the center of the bolon. On top of that, all of the chicharrón was burnt to a crisp. I laughed because it honestly felt like a prank. I'm not sure how much my brother paid but no price was worth what I received. My brother ordered grilled chicken, rice and beans. My sister had a beef empanada. They liked their items and had no issues. Given that my siblings items were okay I cannot say I wouldn't recommend this place at all. I just wouldn't recommend the bolons from this place. There are other Ecuadorian places in the same neighborhood (walking distance from this place!!) that serve bolons consistently well made. Street parking; only a few seats to eat inside. Basically a To Go place. These empanadas were awesome!! Big & stuffed with a very nice crispy, fried shell. ( they offer mini sized empanadas too) There are many options of Savory fillings, but I wish they had more "sweet\dessert" types. Which brings me to my favorite: the Guava & Mozzarella Cheese empanada... Best one I've ever had. For upcoming St. Patricks Day (for a limited time) they have -- The Reuben- filled with Smoked Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese & Sauerkraut. EMPAN-TASTIC!
