We used Chestnut Deli to cater our Oktoberfest party this past weekend and I can't say enough about how amazing the food was. We ordered the Oktoberfest menu for 50 people and we had so much food that people were able to come back for seconds. The chicken schnitzel with lemon sauce, the pretzels and the potato pancakes were my personal favorites. The braised red cabbage was sweet and so delicious, and the brats and kraut was a big crowd pleaser, too. Thank you, Billy, for great food and terrific service. It was great for both kids and adults--beyond the burgers / hot dogs, the grilled chicken was delicious and the sides like mac and cheese and watermelon hit the spot. We have ordered from Chestnut Deli during the Covid pandemic. They are extremely kind and considerate and super friendly! During Ridgewood's Restuarant Week , we ordered their 4 course meal options. They did not disappoint. The appetizers were great....shrimp cocktail and a crab cake. The salad was extremely fresh with olives, tomatoes and onions with an expertly seasoned dressing. For the entrees, we chose the shrimp and broccoli over capellini and the filet mignon with roasted potatoes and broccoli and squash. Both entrees were great. But the filet mignon was fantastic! Honestly, I can't say enough good things about these guys! I get the weeknight dinner delivery/pick up and the food is just always great. Everything is fresh and perfectly cooked. It really tastes like a healthy home cooked meal and not like take out. My husband, myself and my kids always love the food. They definitely gained a regular customer in me and I don't usually get take out often. They also give very generous servings and the price is more than reasonable! What a great idea! This was my first visit to this place, but it certainly won't be the last. The company I work for usually gets a sandwich platter from them for our meetings, all of which are delicious and made with fresh ingredients. I had tried one of their sandwiches at a work meeting but I couldn't remember the name they call it.. So I stopped in today and asked for it. We've been here twice since they opened. The first time was for breakfast. All the food was fresh, made to order, and very tasty. We also used them recently to cater a dinner for 20 hungry HS athletes. The food was excellent, it was delivered on time, came piping hot, and ready to go. Extremely reasonable prices for the amount of food that they provide. Billy couldn't have made the whole process any easier. Plates were licked clean and I was asked repeatedly throughout the night, "Where did you get the food?" We will definitely be back! read more
