Wow. (I probably said that at least 5 times while eating it.) This place is incredible. It's been a LONG time I've tried somewhere new that blew me away. I've never seen a tortilla this big, crunchy and delicious. I got the Tlayuda Oaxaqueña which is a big tortilla from Oaxaca, Mexico, topped with blended black beans, quesillo (Oaxaca cheese), thinly sliced marinated grilled pork and beef, chopped cabbage, tomato, and avocado slices. It's not something I'd normally get, but I am so glad I took the server's advice. He's was incredibly kind and you could tell the family cooks with love. I can't wait to go back and try the torta and chilaquiles.

The staff is welcoming and attentive, and the food is fantastic! Everything is homemade using natural ingredients. It felt like being invited to someone's home for a meal as you could tell that a lot of love and care went into preparing the food.

Authentic Must Try Mexican Oaxacan food! Oaxacan food specializes in Mole (complex sauce using chilies, and chocolate) along with other traditional dishes. I'll be back to try out more items!! The manager took some time to talk to us about where they source their ingredients and their history Ambiance -Nice little set up l, feels cozy Must Try, and one of the best if not the best Mexican restaurants in Tencula/Murrieta area. Not my New Nacho Joint! Opting to find a new option to satisfy my love for Nachos on Fridays I decided to give this local establishment that replaced another Mexican restaurant about a year ago. The reviews on Yelp were promising too. We were met by a friendly gentleman that was eager to assist us and even provided positive assurance that the nachos would meet our expectations. After what seemed like seconds he returned with a container in a bag and we were on our way. Once home we set the table, made a salad , got cold beers from the fridge, and queued up a series on Netflix to watch while dining. What a surprise Soggy thin, strips of tortillas, bland guacamole, tasteless carnitas! It was cold mess that resembled lasagna and a microwave could not revive it. Fished out the thin wet tortillas and replaced with crisp tortillas chips from the pantry added cheese and reheated. This improved the entree so we could move forward but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Very depressing .

Fajitas at Cocina del Carmen were amaze-balls! So delicious and unique with the Oaxaca flavors! Even the black bean spread chips and salsa were so flavorful we ended up taking 8 oz. that was more like 4 oz. home with us. I'd say the service was personal and super responsive. Went to the restroom and was surprised to see food preparation tools in there. Like for decor but still, tortilla presses and molcajetes and stuff like that. So I made a joke to the server that I hoped my food wasn't preparado en el baño. She was caught off guard but laughed when she saw I was laughing. Funny, but in my opinion, no one wants to see that any more than they want to see plates and forks. It is just in poor taste especially when I think of the folks that have young ones that enjoy smearing their poop on the walls! Ugh. Gross. Keep that out of there. You'll thank me later. All in all the place was clean, the food was reasonably priced and the flavors unlike any other.

Amazing Birria slow Cooked to perfection until it's fall apart tender. Best part is that there is no gristle or globs of fat (which can be such a gross thing to bite into when enjoying a burrito or tacos ). Everything on the menu is delicious. We have eaten in the restaurant which has a inviting family friendly vibe. We've also gottten take out on multiple occasions and everything is always so neatly packed and presented in eco friendly packaging. We LOVE the salsas and always get a tub to take home. Incredible Oaxacan cuisine 10/10

$6 fish and shrimp tacos that were absolutely delicious ! Fish was battered to perfection and was super fresh! Shrimp was nice and grilled and adding a squeeze of lime made it all around my favorite. Will 100% be back!!

This was a very pleasant find. Authentic beats texmex all day long. Small and intimate with a great menu. You have to try the molotes...so good. We went with the mole chicken enchiladas and chili Verde. Both were very good! We enjoyed a very nice dinner here. Family run and very good service. What ever you want they will customize your order.

Very sad circumstances how I pondered across this spot but nice to come to a place that was warm, welcoming friendly. I was actually out here attending a funeral and so old co-workers/friends of mind were looking for a place to grab some breakfast. This was less than a 10 min drive from the venue. Fairly close to the freeway and in a center. The only downfall about this place is it's located next to a nail shop which has a very strong odor of chemicals but once I got past that I enjoyed the ambience of being in that place. I give it a five star for it's kindness nature of the place and the food was good too. I really enjoyed my chilesquilas, almost finished my entire plate which I rarely do. If i'm ever out in that area, I would definitely come back to this place. Good coffee,good food good vibes.

We went here for the first time based on the good reviews. To our surprise this clean and delicious food restaurant exceeded our expectations. And after 2 days we went back to have the fajita chicken and beef. Very delicious. Family owned restaurant and they care about every detail to be perfect. Clean, delicious and perfect service made us a regular in future. By the way the variety of tab beer was another reason to enjoy this experience. read more

This spot is my favorite local Mexican restaurant . The food is authentic and delicious. Every time we have visited the staff is so friendly and welcoming, which is a big reason why we keep coming back. Service that is warm and kind is so rare to find! The food is very fresh and authentic Mexican food from the Oaxaca region. I had their chicken mole. It had very good color. I love dark chocolate looking mole. They make it here! Chicken is cut up in pieces, so you are not dealing with bones. It came with rice and beans. Very good. I had corn tortillas, you get three. The only complaint on my part is that it is a bit spicy. For those that like spicy, this is for you. Due to health reasons, I can't do spicy anymore! I will come back to try other dishes. These guys are new to the community. A great addition! read more

Came here for the food reviews. Let me tell you the reviews did not disappoint! Jose, greeted my husband and myself right as we walked in. He was super friendly and helpful. It was our first time visiting this restaurant since we just moved here. I ordered the chili relleno with red sauce plate. My husband ordered the torta oaxaquena. Everything was delicious and filling. We did order cocktails I ordered a Paloma and my husband ordered a mango margaritas. The cocktails did not disappoint. We will be back for the service, for the kindness of Jose, and the delicious food. read more

I wish I took a picture of our food but it was so good I immediately wolfed it down! My husband and I are always on the hunt for GOOD mole. We were driving past Carmen's to get lunch at another spot when we saw the "Now Open" sign. Immediately pulled them up on Yelp and saw the mole pictures and made a u-turn to get lunch here instead. SO GLAD we did!! It's been hard finding a good Mexican spot in the area and we finally found a new favorite. The mole was rich, incredibly flavorful. Absolutely perfect. Their chile relleno was phenomenal, a real roasted chile, not any of that canned crap that other restaurants use. They didn't skimp on the cheese at all. Everything is made to order and you can tell. Family owned and operated place and everyone there was incredibly nice. read more

Service was impeccable: super friendly staff who made sure we had everything we needed and joked with the kids, food came out super fast. The food was INCREDIBLE. The kids inhaled their birria en su jugo, I ate way too much of the delicious chile rellenos, and my husband didn't leave a single taco on his plate. I was in the mood to eat Chicken mole and a taco de papa so decided to go to Cocina Del Carmen to give it a try. This is the first time that I went. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh! I'm not sure if they were the owners or employees, but they were sweet as pie and very hospitable. Everything is immaculate clean also. For a shop with a lot of local competition, this place sets itself above the rest. I got the Oaxaquena torta and it was amazing. Instead of leaning on bread to fill you up like most other places, the roll was thin and stuffed with seasoned beef and pork and let the meat do the filling up. My wife got the Chile Relleno plate and was very impressed. The owner Joe kept checking on us and making sure we were good, and told us he just came from San Diego area about 8 months ago. Glad he did. Great flavors, Great service! Strongly recommend! read more

Good to have delicious authentic Mexican food we tried the molotes and they were delicious and filling , I ordered the birria tacos and they were full of meat and cheese and their consome was delicious that I chugg the end of it , my wife ordered the Chile Verde and was very good and filling with rice and beans and choice of corn tortillas or flour. I just finish dinning at Cocina del Carmen for the first time. So many authentic Oaxacan dishes. We had the queso birria tacos w/ consommé and mole enchiladas so flavorful! Great beer too. Customer service was great, food came out fast and piping hot! The owner came around to make sure everything was ok and open to any suggestions. The decor is a work in progress like any restaurant when they first open. I highly recommend you stop by and grab some amazing authentic Mexican cuisine, something Temecula has needed! read more

First time there last Sunday and my wife and I really enjoyed the food. Some of the best carnitas and Adobada tacos I've had. I really liked the rice and beans as well. Oh and they had a couple Hazy IPAs and regular IPAs (huge plus) no clue why every restaurant doesn't do that. Space dust doesn't count Temecula it's garbage come on man. Jose was great we chatted a bit very good service as well. We will be going back soon. read more

Unfortunately on memorial weekend on Saturday we took my in laws and the food came out really fast which concerned me, the food was cold like it had been sitting out and warmed up. The chips were also half filled, we ordered three enchiladas plates but my mother in law only wanted three enchiladas not the complete meal with rice and beans and we were still charged the full amount as it was a complete meal. We never had a problem in the past when eating at this location, however on memorial weekend it was horrible and a bad experience for my elderly in-laws. We asked why we were charged full price for one of the plates when we only got three enchiladas and all they did was give us $3 dollars back and the plates were $18. I would also suggest serving chips with a choice of salsa or guacamole instead of a drizzle of beans. read more

The food here is AMAZING. Possibly the best Mexican food I've had. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The black beans have a wonderful and unique flavor. The corn tortillas were so soft. The meat was tender. The tomatoes were so bright red they look like they were picked this afternoon. And the meat... wow! So tender and delicious. This will be my new go to spot whenever I travel to Temecula. read more

Established in 2010.

Family is what started Cocina Del Carmen and that is what we will continue to embody as we open our restaurant. The Chef and creator of Cocina Del Carmen is Carmen Colon. With love and joy Carmen is happy to prepare Oaxacan Cuisine for you and your family too. Carmen’s secret is to always use the freshest ingredients, nothing is from a can or frozen. Meet the Business Owner: Carmen C.

My name is Carmen Colon I immigrated from Oaxaca Mexico to San Diego County when I was just sixteen years old. We serve authentic Oaxacan Cuisine from recipes handed down from my grandmother. Our customer base is diverse with one thing in common (They all love good food). We take a lot of pride is serving a high-quality meal along with local craft beers. I founded Cocina Del Carmen to fulfill my dream of having my own restaurant and have a place for my children to work and learn responsibilities, and in May 2020 we opened our first location in Vista Ca, and we feel blessed to have opened our second location here in Temecula in March of 2025. We have the best Oaxacan food on the West Coast, it is Authentic, Fresh and Healthy and it's run by a little Oaxacan Businesswoman with a big smile on her face. I try to be a good example for Women and share with them that they can do anything with their lives if they put their minds to it.

As soon as I walked inside, the host Dakota was super cordial and got me seated at their outdoor patio beneath sun shades, next to the vineyard and I had a perfect unobstructed view of the jazz performer on stage. After seating, I ordered a glass of their signature Cabernet Sauvignon and the Fromagé plate, which was presented shortly afterwards. The fromagé plate had a variety of cheeses, seedless red grapes, dried apricots, fig preserve spread and additionally a plate of bread... perfect for sharing or not. The saxophone player played contemporary music which was all entertaining as I noshed and sipped vino. Their signature Cabernet Sauvignon was quiet lovely; aroma and depth of flavors was perfect with the fromagé ...love!! After the lunch, a stroll around the grounds to see more vineyards, felt the breeze on a hot day was nice. Inside the gift shop there was so much to peruse through, but some of the stuff will definitely get a giggle out of you. There's an art gallery connected to the main building. I wouldn't call it an art gallery but many walls were dedicated to showcasing local artists work depicting the Temecula Valley lifestyle. In the same room is the wine tasting bar and most of the people inside the art gallery seemed to be more interested in wine tasting than the art lol This was my second time visiting, both times, I had a great first impression and last impression from the ambiance, food and service. Service from the staff members were all courteous, helpful and just wonderful, All was amazing, Cheers!!Recommend

We went looking for a mexican restaurant tonight. We came across Cocina Del Carmen. Weren't sure when we first got there. We went in and our waitress was soooooo nice and helpful and just so sweet that made our decision to stay and THEN we ordered and the food came out..... I ordered the three taco combo. I ordered a meat called Adobada that I had never had before and my first bite was amazing!! The flavors were sooooo good. I also had a chicken taco and the flavor was amazing and the third taco was carnitas. I could not stop eating even though I was full. The flavors on all of them were so flavorful. We come down to Temecula a lot and I will definitely be back. You cannot go wrong. The owners were so nice! Great food! read more

We happened to come across this restaurant on a google search and decided to give it a try! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! My husband had the chicken mole, which was so delicious and so authentic! I had to try the quesa birria tacos con consommé and they were better than any restaurant I've tried in this area! My teenage picky eater had the torta oaxaqueña and he said it was really good, better than he expected! I can't wait to come back and try out the rest of the menu! I wasn't expecting this place to have such flavorful authentic home made meals, I'm so glad we stopped by! Been to Temecula a few times and tonight we were looking for Mexican food and stumbled upon Cocina del Carmen. Not only were the owners there and cooking.the authentic food but they are simply the nicest people around. Their Mom is Carmen and the food is from family recipes that rival the best Mexican food we've ever had.
