Located in a strip mall, this place is huge inside and very well decorated . It is very clean inside the chef even showed us how clean his kitchen is, everything is made from scratch in house all being heated on le crueset pots. He let us sample a couple of the meats , I tried birria and chili verde. Both meats were tender and tasty. The staff was very nice and friendly. I was hesitant to visit here based on the reviews but I'm glad that I stopped by and had lunch. Upon entering the door there's a large, open concept dining area with a private room for large parties. I was extremely impressed with the food choices and the authenticity of the dishes. Some of the dishes could use a little bit more salt but those that were saying the food is bland can just add a little salt to their orders. I found the food very flavorful. The menu is pretty self-explanatory. You will basically get tacos or burritos. You can pick your meat and any additions you want to add into your items at no extra charge. All the employees were helpful and they make their own tortillas which you can view through a window. I was very happy with my food and found it to be very tasty. I got a birria burrito an my friend got a 2 taco combo with rice and beans on the side. She had birria and chile verde. I like the fact that I can get black beans! The salsa bar was nice and clean and the salsas were quite tasty. You can get sodas in cans and bottles. There are no fountain drinks so be prepared to order cans or bottles. They do have cups with an ice and water machine. All the food is kept warm in Le Creuset Dutch ovens. They have cabeza, birria, steak, chicken, carnitas, Chile Verde and a host of sides and inclusions. I love this restaurant and will be going back again and again to try everything. read more

Wanted to love it, but unfortunately missed the mark for us. We decided to give this place a try based on a ton of hype from both social media and great Yelp reviews. Maybe my taste buds are just a bit pickier when it comes to authentic Mexican food, or perhaps the kitchen was just having an off day, but unfortunately, it really didn't hit the spot for us. We ordered the Al Pastor fries and the Al Pastor burrito, but found the food to be pretty bland overall. The meat wasn't very savory, the fries were on the soggy side, and the guacamole lacked flavor. We actually ended up leaving most of it behind. We also tried the cucumber lime drink, but it was a bit too sweet and tasted more artificial than fresh. I know this place has a lot of fans, so it might have just been bad timing, but we walked away pretty disappointed with our meal. read more

Pretty cool new spot. Great lunch deals. Yummy guac and plenty of salsa options. I wasn't in love with their pastor, but the carne was delicious. I'm interested in trying their premium steak next time since even the regular was tender and flavorful. The fresh tortillas were delicious. The team was very friendly and helpful. Tried Del Norte for the first time last night with the family. Great decision! My daughter got a cheese quesadilla that was stuffed with cheese. The tortilla was fresh and just the right amount of crispy on the edges. My son ordered an asada quesadilla and it was stuffed with cheese as well but was also overflowing carne asada. Overflowing! My wife got a bean, rice, and cheese burrito and said it was delicious. I ordered tacos and got asada and chicken. The asada had a few chewy pieces but the flavor was deep and authentic. The chicken was fantastic and definitely gonna be my go to. The salsa bar was great and I preferred the spicy. Added a nice touch to the tacos. The fresh corn tortillas were perfect. Line moved kinda slow but the food is prepped fresh so worth the wait for sure. Plenty of staff on hand to keep things moving as quickly as possible. Decor is modern Spanish style and there are plenty of tables even with a small crowd when we arrived. Lots of parking and convenient right off Rancho Cal and Margarita. read more

It's usually okay Mexican food, usually a bit bland and boring but fresh enough. But this last time it gave me food poisoning. If I had to guess it was likely the al pastor (the meat that slow roasts on the spike) had been sitting there all day, and after it was shaved off, it wasn't cooked enough on the grill. When they were making the Al pastor items I even thought, wow they did that fast. Or it was the beans, there's a lot that can go wrong here, especially after food sitting out for so long on a slow day. Started feeling my stomach turn about an hour after eating it, and through the night my stomach continued twisting, like a massive stomach ache. Woke up the next day with massive diarrhea, this place was the only food I had ate the night before. Usually get a weird vibe from the people working here as well, like they are upset I'm ordering food. My bad I'm trying to pay you money for the thing you sell, it seems this attitude has leaked into the food safety aspect as well. Will not be returning ever.p read more

This is my new fav spot for tacos. The food is so fresh, everything I've had so far is so good, they pack on their tacos and make their own tortillas. Quality meat not burnt or dry. The gem is the salsa bar, real ingredients not runny but thick , good flavor and great variety to smother them tacos. 10/10!! read more

Honestly, this is a good option if you are just really craving tacos. However, it is very much hit or miss on whether they will be sold out of main items, how long certain things will take (chilaquiles on weekend mornings), and whether items will be hot when served. I wish it was a bit more consistent because the flavors overall are good, but they still have not found their swing, especially if there are a lot of people. read more

How on Earth... did anyone give this more than a one star? One star is for good portions... but the price matches it. Service was scattered. They asked us several times what we wanted in the loaded fries we ordered. Waited 20 minutes for a bean cup, but had tacos out first and they were cold by the time my family got their food. We ate chips and salsa ( chips were not free) because we were hungry... Oh and- borrow is NOT authentic. Their "birria" is boiled shredded beef with ZERO flavor, and my sons fries had CHUNKS of the birria ( see photo) NOT a repeat place. Full stop disappointment read more

Great location, beautiful inside, friendly employees, great potential. Food was good, pricing for two was about $40. We ordered 'the box' two tacos, beans and rice, came with your choice of horchata. Salsa bar is good, pick, salsas, hot carrots and pickled cucumbers. Tortillas are made fresh. I've been to this place twice since it's opened. Oh times I found the customer service to be far superior than the average fast casual restaurant. And given that similar fast casual restaurants serving in the Mexican food space such as chipotle are pushing $15-$20 a person I found this place really great and really reasonable. It's nice that guac is not extra and it's really nice knowing they cook in beef tallow, and do not use seed oils. The interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the food line presentation looks beautiful. Flavor wise, I found the Al Pastor Store tacos and the Carne Asada to be great. While I haven't explored the entire menu so far they've been hits. I will admit the pricing menu is a little confusing at first, but I just asked some questions to better understand how things are laid out. Once I understood that it was very clear and again I will underscore the staff was very great at explaining everything. If there was one concept I did have is one member of my family has food allergies and I did observe corn tortillas and flour tortillas being placed on the same cook surface which would be a cross contamination concern for them so I will just have to keep that in mind. But I will admit I did not ask prior to this about that specifically. read more

Great Food, great vibes, authentic Mexican food that is way more authentic then Chipotle ever could be. They offer a variety of different proteins and choices. Their meats and veggies are fresh and off the grill. It's a big restaurant that just opened and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. Positive: Food Is GREAT. Customer service is awesome. Quality and taste is amazing. Love that they cook with beef tallow and don't use seed oils. Restaurant is clean. Great ambiance. Negative: No kid menu so your child will be stuck with a huge plate of food. When you walk in, there's a huge sign that reads "START HERE". So you walk over there and start there to order but then when you tell them what you want, they tell you not to order there and they send you to the register to order. Was excited to have quality real Mexican food in town. As someone from Mexico and a Mexican, I can see what they are trying to do but they aren't doing enough of it. Food is good but bland. Salsas are okay. A good salsa would make it better but they are bland. Pepino Agua fresca, the mint in it, you kidding me? Lemonade is hit or miss. First time I got it, sweet. Second time I got it, bitter. Service is also hit or miss, depends who is working. Been here a few times now, they need to up their game for the expensive price points. I have a standing policy of not patronizing places whose status is "Unclaimed". I figure if the owner doesn't care to claim it, they prob won't care if something is off. I went anyway. Look--the rice is great, and you can taste the beef tallow. Never had that before, but I liked it. A lot. The fries were similarly fried in tallow. The carnitas was fine. I bet a burrito with rice, carnitas, and fries would be great, though. I didn't get that. Instead we got tacos. We actually got one of each--including their backyard taco, which is a slab of "wagyu" on a tortilla. The tortillas weren't good, and fell apart. The guacamole was green paste with no flavor. The chips were stale. The hot salsa was fine, the others needed salt, and the salsa fresca was flavorless. They may win the award for worst beans in Temecula, but on second thought, maybe they'd just tie for last--or simply just place in the bottom 3. The wagyu wasn't wagyu. It was chewy, it was tough, and it was also "never again". The birria was devoid of any flavor, and any seasoning. The carne asada was bad, the al pastor had fat and no sweetness, and the pork verde was dry despite being simmered in sauce. The chicken was ok. There are much, much, much better options. The "never again" starts with the Wagyu, but ends with Del Norte itself. The place looks cool inside though, and it's clear that money was spent making it. Just don't waste yours. read more

The food is great, employees are always welcoming and responsive, and the interior is very nicely decorated. There are some improvements that would take the restaurant to the next level. Offer some tortilla chips with more dishes (e.g., with burritos), offer discounts, add churros, banuellos, or sopapillas to the menu for dessert, and replace the queso with better quality cheese with chorizo, and offer beer. Despite these suggestions, the place is really terrific. I definitely recommend Del Norte. So glad they opened in our area. read more

Downgraded my review from 5 stars to 4 stars. They changed their military discount from 20% to 10%. I was kind of expecting that since i have never heard of a 20% military discount before...the main reason for the downgrade is because the first time i went they gave free chips and i was looking forward to having some chips and salsa with my meal but i rarely pay for chips.....i just used their free carrots and cucumbers to dip in salsa...but its not the same as chips...this was a BIG disappointment. (aren't chips cheaper than cucumbers?) It made the whole trip less enjoyable...I know fast food places don't usually include chips, but i thought this was supposed to be a step-up from fast food. I had the Al pastor burrito, and they put the avocado just on one the left side, so i wouldn't get avocado in every bit...i did ask if they could spread it out over the length of the burrito, and they did, but they should do this consistently without me having to ask? Anyway, i was being nice when i gave them 5 stars the first time wishing i could give 4.5 stars. I wish yelp had the option to give 1/2 stars, because this isn't a 5 star place, but i gave them benefit of doubt until my 2nd visit. If I do return (possibly not..i really was looking forward to the chips and salsa and when you pay $15 for lunch you want free chips)., I will try a different meat. I usually love al pastor, but this was on a rotisserie and was just ok. If they don't offer free chips, i likely will start going back to the other fast food burrito places that i like better but are a little further away from me...where the meat isn't pre-made and tastes fresher. Absolutely beautiful restaurant! I loved the entire experience from start to finish. We were greeted right away, and the staff made us feel so welcome, especially when we mentioned it was our first time. The steak bowls were excellent! The meat was incredibly tender. My kids had the chicken tacos and absolutely loved them. The chicken was juicy, and the tortillas were clearly handmade, which made a big difference. The salsa bar also had a great variety to choose from. My family had such a wonderful experience, and we will definitely be coming back! I also really appreciated how efficient the service was, while we were dining, we saw several people order and quickly take their food to go. I tried this new spot with my wife and two kids on a weekend. When we walked in, it took a moment to get oriented and understand the menu. After looking it over, we realized there wasn't a kids menu, but we decided to order anyway. We asked about the Magic Box since it was Saturday, even though the menu listed it as a Monday-Thursday special for $9.95. It sounded like something the kids would enjoy, though I do wish they offered a simpler kids option - maybe a single taco with rice and beans. We ended up ordering two Magic Boxes (each with one carne asada taco and one al pastor taco), a carne asada burrito, and an agua fresca. Total was just under $50. The food was decent overall, but I was disappointed with the amount of meat in both the tacos and the burrito. For the price, I would expect more. The beans were fine, but the rice had some hard pieces, similar to what you might find at the bottom of the pot. The salsas were good. I also received a free bag of chips, assuming it was because I added a tip to the order when I paid, which was a nice touch. Went to order and they offered us complimentary taquitos. Those in our party that tried them said they were very bland and over cooked, the beef inside was hard. We ordered a few items: the chicken and carne tacos, nachos and a side of rice and beans with horchata and lemonade. The chicken taco was ok, seasoned a little bit, had to load up with some pico at the salsa bar. The carne one was my least favorite as the meat was flavorless and very chewy like it was all fat. The nachos were chips sprinkled with cheese kinda melted and the same flavorless meat. The rice and beans were ok as well. The horchata tasted very grainy and almost like it was from a package. The dining area was big and the decor was interesting ,lots to look at. We may go back to see if it was a fluke or to try the pork, maybe thats where the flavor is. read more

When we first walked in we were impressed by the look of the place. Modern, sleek, new. After that things got less impressive. Why do they have three different places to order? There is the cashier, a self service kiosk and the place with the sign that says, "Start Here," which is in a different place than the cash register. After we had paid my wife was asked by another employee if we had paid yet. I ordered carne asada tacos. Flavorless meat, bland, not marinated or seasoned in any way. Salsas were good. Beans were creamy but I had to salt them as well. Not in a hurry to return since there are better options in town. read more

The guy building my burrito, used the sour cream that was empty, and a bunch of water fell on my burrito and he still wrapped it up. I asked if they could remake that one but by the time I could say anything the three burritos looked exactly the same so they would be to reopen all of them. I just paid $50 for 3 burritos knowing that I wouldn't eat mine with water inside. Once I found the one that was mine I threw it away. Super disappointed couldn't even try the food I paid for. Sanitation should be key. The guy saw the watery mush coming out, and he still chose to wrap the burrito and move it along the line with my other two orders. Very beyond disappointed with this establishment after my first visit and review. I brought my 3 year old granddaughter and my family. I asked if I can purchase a bean and cheese burrito à la carte since they don't offer a kids menu and management said "NO" so instead I was forced to purchase an adult meal for a 3 year old. It's not about the money but the unnecessary wasted food. Won't be visiting this place until this gets addressed!!! Sad read more

Came thinking this would replace chipotle now that it's hit an all time low, I was wrong. This place speedran reasons to not return, and in 2-3 mins i decided i wasn't coming back before even trying the food. Ordered the $10 box, "any 2 tacos" "not those tho" ok? Nbd. Gets to end "drink?" "A soda" "can't do that, have to have a full sugar drink" "no drink, thanks" "$16.65" "sorry what? Board says $9.95 right there" "menu isn't accurate" (you're brand new fcol) 50% invisible hike alone would've been no-return, but this was strike 3. I honestly felt bad for the young guy (nervous, new hire vibes) trying to apologize for bad business practices of the owner. Paid, left, seriously considered just walking from the counter, but I regrettably paid instead. Food: watery and not great, chipotle quality is higher, and I say that as someone who aims to avoid chipotle at all cost Save your $ and your time. Horrible Mexican food tbh. I had high hopes for this place since they don't use seed oils. I got the chicken tacos. The chicken isn't even grilled it's watery and when the guy put the chicken on my tacos the tortilla got soaked. The chicken is in huge chunks, way too big for a taco. It didn't even have grill marks, it looked boiled. The guac looks like they bought it from Albertsons. The salsa is subpar. Aztek has them beat by 100. This place seems like it's going to be a great edition to Temecula! Decorated so cute inside with good music playing and friendly staff. The food was fresh, it's like a chipotle but with more authentic food. The meat was super flavorful and prepared really well. Homemade tortillas and friendly service. The horchata and Jamaica were delicious. The salad bar was clean and had great options. All the salsas were fresh and flavorful. I liked that they had fresh limes, onions, cilantro, carrots, and radish. I got the carne asada and al pastor burrito and it was awesome.
