Another great spot for a weekend brunch! Such a shame the no longer have the all you can eat buffet, that was our brunch groups favorite thing here & that's the only reason I'm deducting a star..... please bring it back!! We will for still come on a taco Tuesday when are schedules all align again. I've been too so many branches of the Kalavera's restaurants. I would like to say this by far it's my second best place compared to the one in North Hollywood. I had their chicken mole, and by far it's one of the best dishes I've had. It was spicy flavorful well balanced honestly, I don't think I've ever had chicken mullet enchiladas at any other restaurant that tastes this good. Parking can be a bit tricky since it is on a main road downtown and so if you get lucky, you'll find parking right away if not you'll have to pay for parking. Staff was OK. I don't know if it was just a slow night or if it was not staffed adequately, but it would take a minute for us to place our order or to get our drinks as we were having our meals. To access this restaurant, you do have it taken an elevator as it is on the second floor. I believe they close relatively early we'll compare to other Kalavera chains. They obvious have a nice selection of music so ambience at any chain is always pretty consistent. read more

We visit Calavera's on a regular been to this location twice the last time was the worst experience ever. We always order a sushi roll, the manager told us that it didn't come with a dipping sauce but we know it does. The waitress took my daughter's drink order for a margarita and asked for her id she NEVER brought it out then denied that it was ever ordered. We were one table out of 3 seated, they weren't busy at all to not have come to refill drinks and make mistakes with our order. I will not visit this location again. read more

We were craving some good Mexican food and decided to give Kalaveras a try. The location is a bit tough--it's on the second floor above Coin Op, and the stairwell/elevator area feels run-down and uncomfortably warm. Thankfully, once you step into the open-concept restaurant, the temperature evens out. The vibe inside is dark but lively, with neon lights and views overlooking Main Street in Old Town. It definitely has a cool atmosphere. Service was a mixed bag. Our server was pretty flat and didn't seem too enthusiastic, but the bartender and other staff were much friendlier, greeting us warmly. We started with the nachos, which were actually a pleasant surprise--tasty and well done. For mains, we had the barbacoa, which came with a sauce that leaned more towards BBQ-style than traditional Mexican flavors. The rice was just okay, and the meat was fine but nothing special. We also tried the chicken enchiladas with mole. Unfortunately, the mole was overpoweringly spicy, the chicken was dry, and the rice seemed undercooked and plain. Overall, while the atmosphere is fun and the nachos hit the spot, the rest of the food just wasn't fresh or flavorful enough to stand out. A very meh spot. Food was pretty good. We were lucky enough to stop in while it was still happy hour on Friday and got some of their specials. The quesabirria tacos were pretty yummy. The loaded asada fries were ok. Not crispy enough and they use an aioli to make up flavor. We didn't have enough chips for the guac, even though we put some of it on everything else we ordered. The salsa we got was almost devoid of any flavor and ZERO spice. When we asked for a spicier salsa, they said yes they had it and NEVER brought any. Asked 2 separate employees and it never came. Great spot! First time here. We brought our small dog and the upstairs patio was perfect. Our pup had a great view of the street and the breeze that went through the whole patio felt perfect. The service was excellent, and my server let me order something off the lunch menu even thought it was brunch only at that time. Kalaveras is a SoCal chain, which serves some very tasty south of the border inspired comfort food. It also has a light Muerto de los muertos motif going for it inside. The three of us came here one evening, before a play at the nearby Temecula Community Theatre (Legally Blond). Kalaveras has a Happy Hour (HH) from 4 to 7 on weeknights and we sat back a relaxed, just enjoying some of their more popular items. We each started with a mixed tequila drink and some shared appetizers of HH Nachos, and Queso Fundido. For entrées, we just kept going with some light menu items of Cali Asada Fries, Quesabirra Tacos and a Kali Burrito. We thought the food was pretty good and the HH sizes were pretty generous. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves and came away pleased. Expect to pay about thirty-five bucks each or so before gratuities during HH and depending upon how thirsty you are. LOL read more

I'm wondering if all Kalaveras restaurants have the same owner because I had better experience at other locations. The food and service were... meh... sushi were disgustingly big and when I ordered a side of a toast from Diablo pasta I was basically just brought a bread. Although we came at lunch we were charged a dinner price for a flan that was just overloaded with sugar and whipped cream (DO NOT ORDER IT BY ANY MEANING). The host asked us if we were celebrating anything, we did, my birthday he said happy birthday immediately and when we were leaving... the waiter lady kinda didn't care. This is one of my favorite places for Taco Tuesday in Temecula. The tortillas are cooked on a flat top & super fresh. There are about 6 different types of meat you can choose from. Also, a fresh bar of toppings and salsa! Kalavares does also have certain weekly specials, but it would be good to check their website or call the restaurant to check! :) read more

My partner and I came here for date night. We definitely enjoyed coming here for happy hour, which is M-F (3-7PM). We also enjoyed the Monday Daily Special, which were $5 Margaritas! I think we tasted almost every flavor they had. The workers were excellent! The hostess was very friendly and gave a great recommendation on where to sit. Our servers were attentive, friendly, and efficient! We did not have to wait long for any of our orders or the check. The food was delicious! Our uber driver had initially suggested we went elsewhere as he believed this place was overpriced and the food was mid. I am glad we did not listen. The food was great and everything was reasonably priced. We ordered: taquitos, carnitas taco, chicharon tacos, taco de camaron and the kalichi roll. Everything came out relatively fast and nothing disappointed us. I just wish they had spicer salsas but that's a personal preference. The drinks from the happy hour menu are definitely worth it. Completely dissatisfied with this place! I was overcharged on margarita flights and noticed the next day. I double checked the menu online and she up-charged the drinks by $15 each! That's just unacceptable and if the prices are actually that they need to be updated online. Not only that I tried calling the restaurant to try and get ahold of a manager and each time I called they kept saying they weren't in. It's completely misleading and unreasonable for to be charged a higher amount than to still not be able to get in contact with them about this situation. Service was also not good. How do they stay in business? Popped in for taco Tuesday at 8:45 Mind you they close at 10. Waited at the host desk for at least five minutes no greet no acknowledgment just people walking by. I had to ask the taco lady if they were still open and if they were still serving food since no one acknowledged us. She then proceeded to say I'm not sure what they're doing or what's going on. I finally caught the attention of someone working here which she told me to continue to hold on. Loud with music, and very fun atmosphere. Love that you can just go downstairs to Coin-op to play games. I was impressed with the drinks, especially the margaritas. So delicious & almost like candy.
