What a great little find at the golf course. The staff and owner were super friendly and great for recommending other dining options in the area for our visit. The keto tacos are amazing and the homemade corn tortillas are equally amazing. Update - half way through the meal my wife proclaims, "This is the best Mexican food I have ever had." She had the Chili Rellenos dinner.

Woah! This was probably THE best chimichanga/bean & rice burrito we've ever had. We were visiting NorCal in December and went looking for vegan food. We saw that there were vegan-friendly options here and decided to give it a try. (Food pics looked good.) It's a tiny kitchen within a golf shop, which made me a little uncertain, but YES! This will be our go-to burrito place next time we're up this way. Chips were outstanding. Yes, the chips! I could eat their homemade chips and bean dip all day. Burrito/chimichanga was so good. Guava al Fresca is what I crave now. Thank you for recommending it! Extra love and appreciation for the owners' care and attention to detail, a clean and tidy kitchen and earth friendly, biodegradable disposables.

My fellow Yelpers , I have read the reviews and I could not wait to try out Cocina Mariposa. While I do eat a lot of Mexican food I like to try new places and today was the day I would try Cocina Mariposa. This restaurant is located in the club house of the Eureka Municipal golf course, there is plenty of parking and with the rhododendrons blooming around the golf course it was going to be a beautiful setting overlooking the golf course, a real pretty place for lunch. We walked into the club hour and all the Covid rules were being followed. The menu was posted or you could scan the menu with your phone. I have read the reviews that recommended the fish tacos, I ordered fish tacos and a machaca burrito with a lemonade. My wife ordered the same. We sat outside at the tables overlooking the golf course and our drinks were brought out to us. It took 15 minutes to get our food which seemed to long. When our food came the tacos were cold, way to cold but the burritos were hot and delicious. They do charge.50 for hot sauce which seemed odd. We were very disappointed with this being our first trip here. The service was good but the cold tacos were just to much, cannot recommend at this time

While in Eureka, I ate at Cocina Mariposa. The location of it seems quite odd as soon as you pull Into the parking lot which oversees a golf course, and even walking up the hill into the restaurant can throw you off because it seems like a convenience store initially before you look left and see a small restaurant. There is seating indoors and outdoors which is nice. Don't let the aesthetic throw you off through, because the food itself is completely delicious! This is a non vegan restaurant with a large vegan menu which was ideal for the group I went with. Everything was really good, even the service which was attentive and kind. I would return here and recommend for other vegan and non vegans to stop by as well!

Hot hot salsa, fresh fish tacos, fresh cooked beans, and a horchata with a generous grating of nutmeg. What more could a person want?

I just throw in some beans and rice and lettuce, sour cream, and guacamole. I mean, who puts lettuce in a quesadilla? To top it off, there was no silverware or napkins in my to go order. The taste is OK.

I'm still all about the chile relleno burrito so the last time we went I ordered one with carne asada and it was literally the burrito of my dreams. This time when we went inside I noticed a hand written sign above the cash register that said "The Raliberto" which was basically my chile relleno burrito plus carne asada, so I ordered it. I cut it in half, took a picture this time and noticed it wasn't the same, it had cheddar cheese instead of that delicious white cheese the relleno comes with, and I don't think the poblano was battered and fried, it was just a plain pepper that was stuffed with cheese- it was still very tasty just not the burrito of my dreams. I'm thinking since it was a special, they may have run out of the regular rellenos or perhaps they were cutting costs but next time I'll just stick with the regular chile relleno burrito. We also picked up an order of their other special, carne asada rolled tacos, which definitely don't need the added carne asada because guacamole is all them tasty suckers need but we snarfed it all down. I don't know when we'll be driving through again but this is a really solid spot that I'll always think of fondly.

They also have Guatemalan items for sale over at the register. I decided to go for the garnachas, which is a Guatemalan street food, similar to a sope. These were like little mini sopes. . The corn masa cake base was delicious, and it was not over fried. The ground beef was seasoned very well, the veggies gave it a nice pop of freshness. The cheese was great, and I especially loved the sauce. The sauce just brought it all together. There was a little pile of jalapeño, onion, and carrot in the middle. I didn't touch the jalapeño. I tried the carrot and the onion, but they were too spicy for me. Not a big deal. It was a nice lite lunch, and with soda, tax and tip, the price was very reasonable. I definitely want to come back and try more items off of this menu. Thank you.
