We had a group of 7 and rather than add a chair to a long table, we were asked to split our party up. We declined and were treated poorly by the staff member who seated us. Like others have said, the portions are a little bit on the small side. The carnitas tacos were pretty good, even if they contained way more onion than meat. Our server was very friendly, but the speed of service wasn't very impressive. I'll definitely give this place a second chance to explore the menu more. read more

Great authentic Mexican food. The restaurant was very modest but clean. I really enjoyed the enchiladas and tacos. The salsas are awesome, I love the verde but my favorite was the habanero which is hot but not crazy hot and had a wonderful flavor. I travel to Lancaster for work and I always stop here at least once every trip. read more

Cheap, authentic Mexican food. Tremendously delicious. I love hot and spicy food which this restaurant caters for; they have their very own sauces. I've had their chicken burger and on another occasion I had their pineapple tacos which were mouthwatering to say the least. The atmosphere is drab, although it seems to fit into the home style, rustic feel of the restaurant. Really good carne asada taco's. They come with a diced onion cilantro mixture. I added sour cream, avocado, cheese, and pico (which was outstanding). I topped it off with their hot sauce and lime juice. The taco was killer. I also tried the chicken burrito. It was ok, but I wish I had ordered another taco, because it was really really good. Fantastic and authentic! I went here with some of my family and we had a great experience and amazing food! The establishment is BYOB, so definitely bring a bottle! It is a smaller restaurant though, so I wouldn't recommend a lot of people. Everyone had great meals, so I won't recommend a particular item. Enjoy! read more

I really really enjoyed the food here! Small but cozy, friendly staff and great food. This ranks up there with another restaurant that we like, whose name completely escapes me right now..It is a Mexican Grocery/Restaurant on Dillersville Rd. ( its right in front of Addisu Ethiopian restaurant). Both are very authentic and delicious! I highly recommend La Cocina followed by a walk to Carmen and Davids creamery afterwards for a very nice evening. This restaurant is very very casual. read more

Another reviewer was right on the money by saying that this place is as authentic as you are going to find in Lancaster, but that doesn't make it amazing food. I am originally from California and grew up eating really good authentic spicy Mexican food. Nothing in Lancaster can compare since most of the people who were born and raised here prefer milder, blander food. Very disappointed with this place. Started off with a queso con chorizo, I was expecting a slightly runny, amazing tasting queso dip filled with chorizo but instead what we got was a soup cup filled with slightly melted cheese that had the texture of mozzarella cheese from a pizza hut pizza and a few pieces of beef. My entree came out afterwards, I ordered a pollo dish, I can't remember the name but it was described as being similar to pollo com crema. I was excited, but when it came out my chicken and veggies were topped with the same thick, tasteless, rubbery cheese. I asked for sour cream, it was the opposite, thinner than cream from coffee mate. The chicken was tender but very bland. The chips were not warm and were very thick and had a texture similar to a stale bag of jacked Doritos (sadly, with no flavor). My friends horchata tasted like a whole package of Big Red chewing gum. They don't even give you salsa as a complimentary gift...The rest of my party agreed, this place needs some major changes. Would give this place 0 stars if that was possible. If you want really good Mexican food, this is the place. Fresh ingredients. The guacamole and chips are a must! Their verde salsa is my favorite. The rice milk is incredible! Great little local restaurant that you should totally try, and that we keep going back to. FYI - on-street parking is hard to come by, so either walk or bike (if you live in the city), or plan to search a bit for parking. Came here while staying in town for business- WORST food I've EVER had. Ordered take out- Nachos and El Mexicano Tacos. Got home and opened the box- it was tortilla chips with cold refried beans and NOTHING else on it. Tacos would have tasted like the bottom of a shoe if they actually had any taste. Visiting Lancaster and saw reviews on Yelp. Hole in the wall, family-run restaurant. Great authentic Mexican food. Guacamole was excellent and the chips made fresh. The three sauces (mild, medium verde, and hot) were fabulous and allowed you to spice each yummy bite to your liking. I had enchiladas verdes and my husband has al pastor tacos. However, we have tried using restaurant.com coupons at this place two times now and both times our bill was much, much higher in the end than it should have been.....and it's frustrating to try to get them to explain what they are figuring into. I went to this restaurant when headed to Fulton Opera. It sure was convenient, but the burrito was really not good. It was a "meat" burrito, but I've gotten more chicken in a bowl of chicken noodle soup. That's potentially a minor gripe, but the bean/rice filling was really bland. There was nothing in the food part of the experience to say it was good --- well, the flour tortilla WAS good. Seriously, my lady-friend commented that she has had a better burrito at Taco Bell -- and it's true. Service was OK. The next time I go to Fulton, I'll choose a different restaurant. read more

My husband and I love to find small restaurants with authentic international cuisine at a reasonable price. When we moved to Lancaster City, we had the pleasure of finding Cocina Mexicanna. We have been there several times since, and we have never been disappointed. In fact, we love them so much that when we got married, we asked them to cater. Placing the order was a breeze, and the lovely woman who coordinates their catering is really wonderful. It really was a pleasure working with them. Everything turned out really well, and I can't wait to go back again. I think I'll probably eat about 20 fish tacos. And enchiladas. And carnitas. Everything. read more
