I remembered my dad saying we haven't had barbecue in a while so I told my brother that was the plan! My dad saw this spot on New Day Cleveland years ago and we keep coming back. When we got to the counter to order, the two ladies there both greeted us, although one was taking someone else's order. When my mom and I said we were gluten free, she had every answer we needed. Sauces, putting hush puppies on the side, no bread. Excellent job! We would have sat outside, but all of those tables were filled. We did get a table inside for the four of us. Packed inside too. They brought our food out to us when it was ready. With it being packed for Father's Day, 20-25 minutes wasn't that bad. The two sandwich eaters devoured their sandwiches and sides. The two meat platter had just the right amount of proteins and sides. Pulled pork is often my go to, but the brisket was divine on Sunday! I didn't know there were at least four kinds of beans available in the side but yum! The Green beans were solid, cooked in/with butter. Upon finishing our delicious lunch we went across the parking lot to the creamery. They had vegan options so I got one vanilla and one chocolate. The cookies and cream wasn't gluten free so I am unable to comment on that vegan option. Very smooth. An awesome finish to an excellent Father's Day lunch. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Great food. So friendly as you are cheerfully greeted upon entering. Also wished my hubby Happy Father's. What a nice touch. Their BBQ is amazing. I split the two meat platter with my son. There is something that just feels right about being greeted with BB King and Blues Brothers music when entering a BBQ spot. I loved the ambiance of said music, warm conversation of adjacent families sharing their meals, and of course, the smell of some good cooking. The variety of sauces was fun, the tea was good, and the sides and BBQ themselves were on point. The service for better or worse is pretty hands-off. Be aware also that they charge a bit more for brisket when eaten as a part of their meat sets, for some reason. The picture speaks for itself. It's not a big spot, but the service is great. It's a tiny bbq joint, and it can be a bit crowded inside, but they do have outdoor tables. They also have a creamery, right next door. We didn't get to try it because we were so full. I ordered the "Mess Plate" for $9.99 It comes with pulled pork, Mac n Cheese, sprinkled shredded cheese and two onion rings. I couldn't finish it. So many choices so little room in my stomach to eat it all.... But I tried. Pork rinds. I love them. Especially when they are fresh. These came in a pretty big paper bag and were suuuuper tasty. Brisket.... Just right. I think I got a little of each sauce and had fun dipping little pieces of it to try them all. The sauces were all great. But I liked the mustard one best. The burnt ends were my favorite. The sausage was spiiiicy! But so, so tasty! Collard greens were some of the best I've had. I couldn't eat it all and ended up eating the rest for lunch the next day. You know the moment you walk into this joint that there's a legit pitmaster somewhere on the premises. I have traveled all over the country and have been to some of the best bbq joints in KC and Texas. This place is hands down some of the best bbq I have ever eaten. The flavor profiles in the shkrimps n cheddar jalapeño grits and in the greens are rich and well balanced. The ribs were perfectly seasoned and tender. The mac n cheese is creamy and delicious. I'm a dry rub bbq fan. I did not try any of the multiple flavors of bbq sauce. I was so stunned by how delicious the bbq was, I had to go next door to the creamery and experience the hype. We drove out of our way to visit Cockeye BBQ after we saw an ad somewhere. Not going to lie, the BBQ / Creamery combo was the biggest draw. Originally walking in with BBQ pork, brisket, etc on the mind, it was actually the southern fried chicken that caught our eye. OK, so I did get a side of brisket too. Note that the fried chicken takes 20-30 minutes to prepare because it is made fresh. I can respect that. The brisket was good but a tad dry and fairly bland. I almost never put BBQ sauce on brisket but this portion needed it. Cockeye has a unique variety of BBQ sauces. The BlackBerry smoke sauce was my favorite. The chicken portions was HUGE and delicious. Onion rings were good. The cheesy potatoes were amazing. Tons of leftovers to bring home. read more

WOW. This place is amazing. The food is next level and the service is incredible. This family restaurant has a very cool bbq vibe and makes for a great dining atmosphere. The bonus is the ice cream parlor that's next door. Seriously some of the best ice cream I've had in a very long time. I'd highly recommend the rib plate and all the sides are delicious. I travel very very frequently throughout the country. I always try to find local places to eat and have had some amazing BBQ and some that I would not feed a dog. I would say unequivocally this place is #1 of all the BbQ I've had in Ohio. The food was fantastic and the staff members were above reproach. They are extremely personable and truly appear to care if you enjoyed your experience. While at this place, it is clear the locals from all walks of life enjoy the food and atmosphere as I witnessed from families to local law enforcement eating here. We were in town for a Scrappers game and came across Cockeye BBQ. I consider myself a bbq snob and they exceeded every expectation I had. The staff was amazing, quick, and friendly. It's a very small place so not many tables inside. They also do phone and online orders. We were able to snag a table and just watched the precision in which they work. Being an executive chef I appreciate well run kitchens. They were cranking out order after order. We got our meals. I had the two meat with pulled pork, hot sausage, and it comes with two sides. I got corn casserole and fries. The smoke on the pork was perfect. The sausage link was excellent as well. Fries were a little soggy, but still fine. Corn casserole was amazing as well.
