Stillwaters Tavern is a St. Pete spot I keep coming back to, and this visit was another solid one overall! We started with the crispy pork belly, which looked a little on the drier side when it arrived but don't let that fool you, the brown sugar bourbon glaze it was dressed in was delicious. Really enjoyed it as a starter. The tavern burger came highly recommended as one of their best dishes, and while it was a good burger, it didn't quite blow us away. Surprisingly mild on flavor despite the toppings, and it's a BIG boy... which I know some people love, but I tend to prefer a smash burger so I'll take partial responsibility for that note! The fries, however, were excellent... textured, crispy, exactly how fries should be. The real standout of the visit was the chilaquiles (the chef's brunch special). It ran a little dry, but the flavors more than made up for it. The combination of crunchy tortilla chips, smoky sauce, pickled onions, egg, avocado, and cilantro all together was just so good... my boyfriend was equally obsessed. Would absolutely order again. My husband and I really enjoyed Stillwaters Tavern for a casual date night on our first night in St. Pete! There is amble seating with a full bar, nice intimate booths and outdoor tables. We loved that happy hour was still going on when we first got there and took advantage of some drink deals. I loved the deviled eggs appetizer. It sounds so simple but a deviled egg with a piece of bacon and jalapeño on top...?? So good. I had the citrus ginger salmon as my entree and my husband had the fish of the day special. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Stillwaters Tavern yet. I have been here countless times for lunch and dinner, and it's one of my favorite casual go-to spots-especially when friends are visiting. My husband and I come here often when we want a relaxed, reliable meal. I almost always start with the clam chowder-and I don't say this lightly, it's some of the best I've ever had. I'm originally from New England, where clam chowder is serious business. I've had it in Boston, Newport and Cape Cod, and this is right up there-if not better than some I've had there. It's rich, thick, creamy, loaded with clams and full of flavor. I love the little Goldfish they serve with it. Some of my favorite dishes include the crispy chicken salad and the fish special (get it blackened!). They do blackened seasoning really well here-bold flavor without overpowering the fish. The bun-to-fish ration is spot on. Another standout is the Nashville hot chicken sandwich: a large battered piece of chicken that's crisp, crunchy and perfectly seasoned. The hot sauce truly shines through with just the right amount of heat. The French fries deserve mention too-crispy on the inside, soft in the center and always well seasoned. My husband's go-to is the chicken Jager Schnitzel and he orders it almost every time. The location is prime, right in the heart of Beach Drive. Prices are fair, especially considering the quality of the food and consistently friendly, attentive service. The staff makes excellent recommendations, and they have a great drink list with a solid beer selection. There's plenty of covered outdoor seating, which I almost always choose. Inside, there's a bar on one side and dinning on the other, but it can fell a little dark and can be loud. Stillwaters Tavern continues to be a favorite, and I'll absolutely keep coming back. read more

The Greek salad dressing was very good. Both were very large portions and included a scoop of potato salad. I've never been to a place that added potato salad to a regular salad but it tasted great. With a soft drink and tax the bill was $48. We ate outside since the weather was nice but there is plenty of indoor seating and they have a large bar inside as well. Loved the ambiance but I just felt like when it's a rainy day it's still a little dark with the unnatural light. Food was so good. I had the chicken and waffle sandwich, which was literally amazing. We kicked off my friend's birthday celebration at Stillwater Tavern, right on lively Beach Drive in downtown St. Petersburg. None of the four of us fell in love with their signature numbered cocktails, which lean toward inventive flavor combos, but the bartenders were fantastic and mixed up excellent martinis, margaritas, and vodka sodas for us instead. It definitely speaks to their skill behind the bar. Brunch was a highlight. The deviled eggs were some of the best I've had, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Then the bill arrives and I noticed we were charged for a large dinner salad which cost 8.00 more than what apparently the small salad is. I say apparently because there is no large dinner salad on the menu! Regardless, I called our bartender and pointed this out. Her reply, "well it was good, right?". Seriously? No offer to adjust, no apology. So, I thought ok, paid my bill and left. The more I thought about it the more I realized that this is wrong! So, I sent an email explaining what happened to the restaurants main email address. That was three days ago. No response. I think that's it for me.
