Stopped in this place on a Friday night to give it a try. The outside is very nice and looks upscale. Inside is also very nicely decorated but more colorful. We were quickly greeted and seated with no wait. We could tell the waitress was still learning English but was very friendly and not shy to speak. After ordering our drinks, she brought us some very fresh chips and a Mexican soup that had a big shrimp in it. Both were very good. The soup was a little bit spicy but amazing. Everything we ordered was just delicious. Their prices are reflective of their upscale atmosphere plus the fact that many dishes contained seafood. As we were leaving they had a singer walking around singing and were about to start their karaoke night. We will definitely return. read more

i've lived near this place for awhile and finally stopped in. it's awesome. marina was my bartender and she rocked! i ordered a marg not knowing it was gonna be massive but man i was happy it was because was soooo good. food was amazing 10/10. it looks like its pricey but its huge portions & great quality. I could have given a much higher rating. But the most disappointing part is that the manager/owner depended solely on her two actively working wait staff to take care of everyone in the restaurant that was quickly beginning to fill. There were other workers busy on their phones. We had been wanting to try this place so many times. We are that kind of patron that will wait many years to see if a place survives before we try it. Sad but true. When we walked in we told her it was just two of us for lunch. She didn't speak English and quickly nabbed another waitress who was fluent in English. Although very kind--wouldn't have let a little language barrier stop us from enjoying. It still took us about twenty minutes to get the waitress to return to take our drink orders. My husband was getting impatient and went to the bar to order. Once again, the staff were just sitting busy on their cell phones. When our drinks arrived, we were impressed by the beautiful cocktail! We were also presented with a soup that had a shrimp floating in it and some tortilla chips. Even though, it wasn't exactly soup weather outside, we ate it and it was quite tasty. Another thirty minutes passed before our lunch of tacos were served. They were actually very good! But after only one, I was in need of a box! The food and cocktails were very good. It just took FOREVER to get our drinks, food and check. The sad part was that the restaurant wasn't even full! I couldn't imagine if it had been! Food was very good but kind of pricey I think the lobster cost $60 it's a lobster cut in half full of seafood and the other plate is a pineapple full of seafood topped with cheese $23. The food was delicious and the service was good. So friendly! I had tres tacos. Two fish and one shrimp. Served on two corn tortillas. The fish and shrimp were tasty and the veggies on top were crispy. Served with lettuce instead of cabbage like other fish tacos. They all had a light sauce swigged over them. We also got the guacamole. Very tasty and a big portion. Our friends got the fajitas. Ample portions and beautifully presented. Another diner got a huge platter with a healthy serving of seafood in a half of a pineapple with fries, salad and grilled bread. I was jealous because it also came with a paper umbrella! Just as I was thinking that most of local, family owned places in my immediate universe have been discovered and proclaimed to the world, the exhaustion of Indy 500 lead us to Coco Bongo. Approached the place with bright signs, but dark windows with suspicion, and yet discovered a bright, large and festive space full of family-size tables with families actually filling most of them and music enticing you to walk with a dance in your step. So, we danced to the table and examined the menu and nearby tables heaping with abundant and exotic looking seafood platters. Started with a cup of complementary shrimp soup - mildly spicy with a fat savory shrimp. Not all selections had accompanying English descriptions, so Pina Rellena and Ceviche were largely selected on the merits of the pictures and turned out delicious. Pina Rellena came in a blackened pineapple full of mixed seafood "stew" topped with cheese. The selection of deserts was light, but Horchata drink served as a sweet substitute just fine. My boyfriend and I tried Coco Bongo on a whim for a late lunch. We have been to other mariscos restaurants in the area and have been wanting to try Coco once we heard it was open. It was right before the dinner rush, so it wasn't too busy. We were seated and a server brought over some tostadas with spicy salsa and a small cup of seafood soup. Delicious! This actually swayed my decision for what to order for lunch! We each ordered seafood tostadas. I just got one of the mixed seafood one to start before my meal and my boyfriend got 4 shrimp for his lunch. Super fresh, lots of toppings, and loaded with seafood! I ordered the caldo 7 mares. It was so loaded with seafood and the broth was very good. I also liked the garlic bread it was served with. I've never had garlic bread served with my caldo, so I was a little hesitant, but it complemented it perfectly! PLEASE READ! Don't even want to give this place one star! Went in and all of the servers ignored us - no they weren't busy. Finally a bus boy sat us. Every server saw us sitting there and was ignored by every single one. We weren't even acknowledged or given menus. While we waited 10+ minutes all the servers stood at the bar talking to each other. As two parties walked in they were seated and served asap. We still even gave them another 5 minutes to come over and they never did so we finally just left! I heard about this place from a friend who said it was one of the best Mexican restaurants in the city. The inside is spacious but not elegantly decorated or anything just plain with string lights hanging all around. I ordered chicken tacos (3) and my husband ordered the mixed fajitas with shrimp, chicken, and steak. We both ordered lime margarita's. We also ordered the guacamole but it was never served. The food was pretty good and the margaritas were fair. The the service was not so good. After we were served no one ever came back to our table to see how we were doing or if we needed anything. The server only came back to bring the check. We asked for carry out boxes twice and we were finally given 1 box for both of our leftovers. It didn't look as if they short on staff. The staff just doesn't seem very attentive. Overall I would go back to maybe order carry out but I don't think I would dine in. The customer service here is unsatisfactory. read more
