It's been hit & miss with Coco Thai lately, & today was a miss. The eggplant with beef dish still tastes good, but the flavor changed again, it was more similar to Chinese eggplant dish than authentic Thai. I can taste the distinct flavor of black bean sauce which isn't a Thai ingredient, it's famous a Chinese sauce. If I wanted black bean sauce, I'd go to Cheng's garden for lunch at half the price. On the menu, the dish seemed reasonable at $15. I ordered Thai eggplant stir-fry with beef. The menu didn't mention beef is extra charge, & the lady didn't say anything about beef surcharge either. However, the bill came out & surprised me with a hefty $5 beef surcharge. My lunch with tip came out over $25, & I didn't even get soup or spring roll, nothing, just a glass of plain water. read more

Several of my Yelp friends had rated it very high, plus it's less than 6 miles away, so... Stopped in for lunch. Smallish place, but not crowded. Excellent service. Started w Thai iced coffee. Delicious. Lots of lunch specials. For $13.95, you get a choice of sprng rolls (2) or fried wonton; coconut or tom yum soup; and an entree (w chicken). Spring rolls very good, the soup totally cleared out my nasal passages (SPICY), the drunken noodles also hit the right notes. Not an overly large portion. Just enough. Service excellent. Small little place that I just happened to stop by turned out to be This Thai iced tea is sooooo good, just perfect mix of sweet but not too sweet! (Not to mention the cute little rose that they made of the straw wrapper!) Medium--Pad Thai with chicken was DELICIOUS!!!! GET THAT!! And the crispy basil wasn't too shabby either. Coco Thai I was grabbing donuts next door when I stumbled upon this hidden gem tucked away in a small shopping center. At first glance, it looks like a simple takeout spot, but there are a few tables inside if you prefer to dine in. The atmosphere is cozy, and the waitress was incredibly friendly, which made the experience even better. To top it off, the NFL Network was playing a football game--definitely added some extra fun to the meal! I ordered the Penang curry duck, coconut soup, Tom Yum soup, fried calamari, and Thai fried rice--everything was absolutely delicious. I would happily come back just for that Thai fried rice! I admit this is my second go around with Thai Cuisine however I seem to have a fondness of Thai & even other cuisines from other cultures as well. Place was delivered from Suffield,/Enfield, CT but it arrived early & fortunately when the Grubhub delivery person came I was able to get him to hand off delivery (including photo verification) & I selected Drunken Chicken & Seafood Madness (oh yeah I did my own photo stuff as well). It's been four years since we've eaten in at Coco Thai, so we decided it was time to try their pick up service. Sadly they don't cross the bridge for delivery, or we would be way more regular. But, for Valentine's Day, which we postponed until the weekend, we did the online ordering: steamed shrimp spring rolls, Tom Yum soup, and deep fried duck. All were very, very yummy, and it was a treat to have our meal in the comfy coziness of home, since Coco Thai is small and not so comfy. We liked the meal so much, a week later we ordered again, this time getting pork dumplings, pork and veggies, and a beef in coconut curry sauce with veggies, which was outstanding. The food is really good! I ordered Crispy Pad Thai. OMG! i recommend you order this. BUT all other dishes are good! The service is good. very thoughtful and polite. Helpful. Checked out this place for the first time and was pretty impressed! They have take-out only right now. Called on a weekend evening, food was ready in about 20 minutes. We ordered the dumplings, drunken noodles and massaman curry with two sides of rice. The dumplings were underwhelming but the rest of the food was delicious!! I honestly couldn't stop eating the noodles and curry. I will say there seemed to be fewer actual noodles in the dish and more veggies which is good or bad depending on what you prefer. I enjoyed the veggies for example but my husband was wondering where all the noodles were haha. Curry was great, some of the best I've had in a while. What a delicious meal it was!! Yum!! I was looking for a Thai food on the way to the airport and found this wonderful place that I can't say enough great things about it! They have lunch specials everyday and even on weekends!! HUGE PLUS! The meal has two things. First soup and rolls! You can have all soup or all rolls also! I picked soup and rolls!! TOM KHA soup is my absolute favorite and that's what picked! The rolls were super delicious too! Then I picked then drunken noodles with chicken which was super delicious! I was really looking forward to trying this place for the first time (we ordered tom yum salad, Pad Thai & Green Curry), so you can imagine my disappointment when I got an email at 11:53am from ChowNow stating my order had been declined by the restaurant. **My real issue isn't that they couldn't fulfill my order, but that it took them over two hours to figure that out, at which point I couldn't order somewhere else & stay on schedule...** I love Thai food, and this place could have become my new go-to... Ordered the crispy pad Thai for take out this evening and I've never been so disappointed by a take out meal. On the menu it's called crispy pad Thai but it's all crispy and zero pad Thai, there aren't even actual noodles with it it's literally just a container of crispy garnish with some shrimp and chicken so dry it belongs in a desert. The dish was ice cold and on the menu it said it was served with rice but there was no rice to be found. I used to love this place but I'll think again before coming back cause honestly I can't even believe a dish this bad is on the menu. This review is only for the papaya salad. It's hard to find this on menus and one of my favorite Thai dishes so my disappointment may be disproportionate to what the experience actually was. Great little place. We were traveling through and looking for a light, healthy lunch. We found Coco Thai on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Not being from around the area we needed some last minute in person directions. Note that the restaurant is in the Valero gas station plaza and you have to enter the place through the gas station driveway. The food was very good and met our need for a lighter meal. We love Coco Thai! We order takeout about once a week. But be warned - their spice levels are extreme... my spice-loving husband can take spice and even their medium is SPICY. Husband loves the red curry with duck and I get the ginger with chicken. read more

The taste of the food was excellent. We ordered Pad Thai from the lunch menu. It comes with a small soup and side order of either pork and shrimp dumplings, vegetable dumplings, spring rolls or salad. We have tried all of them and all are delicious. The restaurant is small and but the interior is pleasant, clean and comfortable. On the downside, the meats promised on the menu (see L.8) were excluded from my order! I ordered Basil Thai fried rice. It's described as having shrimp, chicken and vegetables included on the main description in the menu. I checked off extra vegetables or so I thought and got ONLY VEGETABLES. Had I also realized that I was supposed to check off the specific meats, it would have been a $2 up charge for the shrimp, so I'm not sure why they say in the online menu that shrimp and chicken are included when the customer is apparently supposed to add it and have an up charge. They definitely need to change this function online. Also, they are pushy about the tip for a pick up order. It has "$0.00" as an option but when chosen, a pop up insists about leaving a tip. read more

Amazing Thai food! Small area for eating inside, prior to Covid we had eaten inside but have been doing takeout these days. It is BYOB if you are eating there. Every dish we have tried has been delicious. It is on the spicy side, my kids thought it was too spicy but my husband and I think it's perfect. You can ask for less spice if needed. The restaurant is in a very tiny strip mall next to a gas station. It's unassuming and has about 4 small tables. Would I come back? Probably not - the food was okay, not great for thai food, but what was really disappointing was the portion size considering the price. I was going to order Tom Yum soup as a starter, but for $4.95, it's an 8 oz bowl, it's SO small. So I said no. To be honest, I can't even remember what we ordered it was so unmemorable - and at $13-$15 per dish - and literally it's an appetizer size service, we were very disappointed. I think we did have the Spicy Beef Salad - and the dressing was SO SWEET; the complete opposite of what is expected. Unfortunately we were hopeful to have found our Thai place, but alas we did not. I recently went here with my mother after a trip to the Big E on our way home. I mostly picked this place because of the great yelp reviews. It's located in a somewhat drab plaza with a gas station and a hair salon. The place used to be a pizza joint. We ordered a starter of crispy tofu and I got the pad thai, a trusty staple. That being said, the food was fabulous. I feel like the most recommended thai place in the area is The Blue Elephant Trail in West Hartford and, in my opinion, Coco Thai Kitchen is much better. The noodles aren't sticky, there is a perfect combo of egg/tofu/peanuts/sauce. The prices are reasonable. The service was prompt and excellent. At the end of the meal they serve orange slices with the bill. So what's not to like? The actual interior of the restaurant. The tables/chairs look like they came out of a children's set. I wasn't expecting trendy, but everything about the decor is lacking. Maybe I should have way lowered my expectations based on it's location. I recommend calling ahead and picking up and eating in the comfort of your own home. That being said, it's definitely worth a try. read more
