Arriving on a Saturday night, there is plenty of parking at Han Asian Cuisine. Located in a strip mall, shopping area of Granby just off of Route 10, easy to reach from most points. A friend and I went there this Saturday night, the place was busy. Looking around, a lot of the dining area walls need repair. Kind of concerning. My friend, ordered a Pear, Saketini, and I had tthe Key West Martini, both were delicious at $11.00 a pop. We put in the order for the $50 sushi and sashimi boat, which included a Dragon Roll, and a spicy tuna roll. We also ordered a Philadelphia roll, as that is my friends favorite. Included with this order were two side salads. The side salads consisted of iceberg lettuce, one cherry, tomato, and one slice of cucumber, all drenched in some type of ginger dressing. Fair at best. Next arriving was the Philadelphia roll, which was good. Tasted just like a roll it any other place. Finally this $50 sushi and sashimi boat for two arrived. Again, this was good not great. Average just like any other sushi place. Service was a little on the slow side, as the place was starting to get busy. Waters were not being refilled at our table. The total bill came to $85, and I left a $17 tip. Total for two with a martini each and tip $102. Now I know why I come here only once a year. It's close, and it fits the bill. The crab rangoons were okay--very cream cheese forward so was not a great deal for what it was. Kani salad was also meh, definitely have had better. For my entree I got the coconut yellow curry and wasn't too impressed with the texture of the chicken. I think my favorite part was the hot and sour soup. My boyfriend did enjoy his sushi so maybe that's the way to go. I did enter the bathroom through the mysterious cloth curtains. The prices are a little higher than I was thinking, ranging from $17 to 19 per specialty roll, but it's been a minute since I had sushi, so you be the judge. The sushi rolls were surprisingly BLAND! Maybe it wasn't sushi rice, although it looked accurate. I would definitely not come here again for sushi, but I wanted to give them a fair shot, so I went ahead and ordered the crispy chicken wings after the fact. We dine in often at dinner time and are always delighted when Jennifer is there. She always has little things for our kids ( this last time it was little Halloween pumpkin boxes). My kids ask to go to Han to see her. Little things like this make a BIG difference when it comes to taking little kids out to eat. She makes them and us feel welcome and never makes us feel rushed. The food here is comparable to Han's "sister" restaurants (Table 570 in Simsbury and Windsor Asian Bistro). Each one has a sushi roll named for the town it is in. Service here is always fast. I will say that for some reason, this location, the servers never write down your order, they memorize it and almost every time get something wrong. Not a deal breaker but it is annoying. The sesame chicken is very good here. My suggestion would be to heat the broccoli. I hate cold broccoli! The brown rice is excellent. Lo mein here is good to along with boneless ribs. Finally the spicy garlic sauce chicken is good too. I prefer the sweeter sesame chicken. We have many delicious Chinese restaurants in the Farmington Valley. I think of Han's as being one notch above the others. Their food and ingredients are better quality & just feel healthier, even the fried dishes. Their sushi is super fresh and top quality. Today I tried a new dish, the Crispy Sole, which is a new favorite for me. I can't wait to order it again. I didn't get the sauce that came with it in the picture, it was spicy and sweet and complimented the super fresh fish so well. Note to myself: ask for mild next time if sharing with others; I ask for medium and it was amazing, but bordered on almost too spicy for me. I posted two photos of the Chicken Satay because with the sauce, it covered just how meaty and moist that chicken is. It's always this thick and is very delicious. We ordered 3 different dumplings. Desperation drove me out of town, I ended up in Granby on a Sat. Was delighted to find out that they have Lunch special on Sat. I tried the 4 season & H&S soup for $1 extra, was impressed by the soup right of the bat. Typically, a poorly done soup indicates worse things to come in A Chinese rest., the soup here was yummy, fresh but not overly done, with ample egg & mushrooms, just the way I like it. The 4 season lunch special is a vegetable stir fry with beef, chicken, shrimp and pork, so you get to sample how they cook various meat. They are all tender and fresh, it is not dark & deep flavored but it's light healthy style with good amount of flavor without being oily. Han has reached a new low. We used to love this place. The last three times we have been here the quality has steadily declined. Tonight the food was cold and of poor quality. The staff was obviously not interested in the food or the patrons. If they are like that at the front of the house I can only imagine what they are like in the back. Wow, were we impressed! We'll be adding a new restaurant to our rotation. Simply put, the meal we had at Han's tonight was terrific. All three of the courses I tasted were very high on the excellence scale. Han's isn't the largest of restaurants, and it was very crowded tonight, probably the combination of it being a Thursday night, people rebelling against the bad weather and Chinese New Year (Year of the Goat for the curious). The owner/host greeted us, and to my shock and amazement he greeted me by name! He remembered me from the many visits we made to his sister restaurant (Green Tea) in Simsbury. I watched him run around the restaurant all night, setting the places at the sushi bar, greeting the customers, and checking on diners all over the room. What a dedicated customer-centric guy he is! My first course was something I order a lot - a nice bowl of Hot and Sour Soup for $2.50. It was very good- not watery, but silky smooth. The tofu strips were creamy and delicious. The spice was right, and the mix of veggies were tender and plentiful. Temperature wise- it was served piping hot. It was a great start to our meal. The high standard set by the soup was met or possibly surpassed by our shared appetizer - a Lettuce Chicken Wrap platter for $9. It was a big plate with 7 lettuce leaves, fresh basil and cilantro garnishes, pickled veggies, and a large portion of minced chicken in a great sauce with peppers, onions, and peanuts. When you rolled all of those great things into a lettuce leaf and took a bite, man oh man, is it good. The standard of excellence continued with my entrée - Spicy Coconut Curry with Pork ($12). Onions, peppers, carrots, zucchini, and basil were the backdrop for incredibly tender pork slices. The curry was wonderful -deeply flavorful with an intoxicating aroma. Add your choice of white or brown rice (I went for the latter), and you have a feast. We ate like royalty for just $41; and we took home half of the Pad Thai and Curry for the weekend. read more

I was part of a group; separate checks were requested with our reservation. We were accommodated smoothly by our server, who also took good care of us during the meal. A few of us were disappointed by their meals, with issues ranging from preparation of the protein to degree of spice (one asked for a mild spice level, another for extra spicy). The mild order was spicier than expected, while the extra spicy was quite mild (the bill showed the spice request was for medium). They need to reorganize their take out process since the majority of the world is doing take out right now with COVID. in the last 2 weeks we have ordered from them and they have been well over an hour and a half behind their estimated 30-40 minute wait. Their staff is not the friendliest when you inquire about you food being over an hour and a half late. Tonight will most likely be our last order from them.
