    Larb Gai, Lao style
    Josh B.

Last year I enjoyed an Uber Eats delivery all the way to Hartford. The experience was more festive this year in-person (yes, you can get here by bus from Hartford but it may not be speedy). My first order was Larb Seen and this time I got Larb Gai, which was more fun because I opted for the Lao-style version. The service is outstanding, and the waitress counseled me on spice level - 3 out of 5 was perfect, with a decent kick at the beginning and some sweat at the end. Although I hope you'll try one of the larbs, or at least one of the Thai dishes that you can't get at your local spot, I actually went for a less exotic item in the appetizer slot. or my appetizer. I opted for the crab rangoon (called crab bag on the Uber Eats) for the pineapple sauce, which was somewhat like duck sauce but has a surprise chili pepper undertone. This is definitely the sort of spot where I stared too long at other people's dishes.

Champa Lao and Thai in Manchester Connecticut gave us a warm, home-cooked meal vibe that feels like dining at a cozy family-run restaurant. I ordered the larb which was exceptional, (I asked for Lao style, mild/less spicy), every bite bursting with flavors that's a blast from the past from the time I traveled back in Thailand. The atmosphere gave a genuine "mom and pop" charm that makes you feel right at home. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the welcoming experience. From start to finish, everything we ordered was delicious, making it a standout spot for anyone craving comforting, flavorful Thai and Lao cuisine. A lot of people order take out here and there's a good amount of seating if you want to dine-in. Would definitely come back again.

Laotian food at its best. Chicken wings were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. Tom yum salmon had the perfect amount of spice and sourness to it. Tofu laad na was superb. The gravy was well balanced. Siam noodles were amazing with the glass noodles. Service is good and ambiance is intimate. They're always super busy with takeout orders and great with dine in customers too. It's a hidden gem. Go!

    Dessert- Coconut mango sticky rice.

Sometimes it's the small places that feel warm and cozy. It's a small restaurant, decorated well. The great upbeat music filled the room. Upon entering I was greeted by the host with a smile and positive energy, he let me select the table I would like to sit at. He gave me a cold bottle of water and menu. Asked the spice level I would like my pad see-ew. The food was very good. Fresh noodles cooked perfectly, the seasoning was infused perfectly with the dish and it felt balanced. I truly enjoyed this dish. Then he brought out my sticky rice dessert. It felt like home. Although this place is an hour away from my house, I will definitely drive back for the pad see-ew again. The host/ waiter was very busy with all the customers but he had tried his best getting peoples drinks, taking orders, getting boxes to go, ringing people up, taking calls, and despite how busy it was, he still checked in with people to ensure they were happy with their dishes and still maintained a smile. Service was the best I seen in a while.

Great food! Seems like all the Thai places have adapted to becoming takeout spots after the pandemic and decided to stay that was.. it's quite a costs saver. So we had to take out we got red curry and pad Thai.... came with a side of spring roll too. It was steaming hot even after a 20min car ride home. For the price tag of $8 it was an awesome lunch option. While the food/ value was good what I didn't like was the way the owner added $2.5 to the bill when I checked out. Upon asking, he said it's coz I asked for chilli sauce. Is he for real?? I don't mind him charging extra but definitely not $2.5 and definitely not without informing me that's felt like open stealing.

Found this place near my step daughter's school as I was driving by to pick her up. Passed through a few times before I finally decided today was the day and taking a break from cooking or have my wife cook at home. We ordered red curry and pad Thai. It is a great value at $8 with the curry dish including rice and a roll and pad Thai just including the roll. Both the dishes were yummy and would definitely go back there again for a take out to try something else. Just watch your bill as they tried to charge me an extra $3 for a sauce. It's fair to charge for the sauce but not $3, which they refunded.

Ginger salad, great combo of flavors. Not a traditional ginger salad!

Excellent little hole in the wall with excellent food & staff. Johnny is the host, chef, server & entertainment! We had the ginger salad & 2 pad see ewe (veggie & pork) & all were amazing! Delicious and huge portions. Glad we found you on Yelp!

This restaurant was bought 5/6 years ago by the Chinese restaurant across the street. Their building was demolished. For my first drink, I'm having a Singha. Singha is Thailand's original premium lager, first brewed in 1933, known for its rich taste with strong hop character, and is often paired with spicy food. Its logo features the mythical golden lion (Singha) and the Garuda, a symbol of royal approval, making it a distinctive Thai brand with significant international sponsorships in sports like Formula 1 and football. The name also refers to numerous Thai restaurants worldwide that serve its cuisine. They have only beer and wine here. The cold beer glass matches the brand of the beer! This is good. It's cold and easy to drink. For my salad, I'm having the SomTum. Som Tum Thai (Green Papaya Salad) is a beloved Thai salad characterized by a vibrant mix of shredded green papaya, chilies, garlic, cherry tomatoes, long beans, roasted peanuts, and dried shrimp. The dish is defined by its bold, refreshing balance of spicy, savory, tangy, and slightly sweet flavors, often dressed with fish sauce, lime juice, and palm sugar. This is good! It's a big portion. I love the fresh iceberg lettuce cups. For my soup, I'm having tom Yum. Tom yum is a popular Thai hot and sour soup, known for its aromatic broth flavored with lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and chilies, balanced with lime juice, fish sauce, and sugar. The most common version, Tom Yum Goong, features shrimp, but it can also be made with chicken, pork, or seafood. It comes in a clear broth (nam sai) or a creamy version (nam khon), which adds evaporated milk or chili paste. This is hot and yummy! Lots of chicken! The tomatoes retain a lot of heat! For my my entree, I'm having the Massaman Curry with chicken. Massaman curry is a rich, mild, and flavorful Thai curry with Persian and Indian influences, known for its complex, aromatic spices like cardamom, cinnamon, and cloves, and its creamy texture from coconut milk, peanuts, and potatoes. It's less spicy than other Thai curries and balances sweet, salty, and sour tastes, often made with chicken, beef, or duck, and served with rice. They add peanuts too! I'm going to Christen a bottle of Melinda's Bhut Jolokia Ghost Pepper sauce. The pepper is supposedly 1M Scoville units. Yeah. That's hot. The sauce is not that hot. It's maybe 50K Scoville units. The Massaman Curry is real good! It's hot and delicious. What a great meal here!

I'm a vegetarian so I'm always on the lookout for good vegetarian food. We tried the Thai spring rolls, Drunken noodles (which might be made with oyster sauce so be aware if you are vegetarian) with tofu and sesame bean curd. By far our favorite was the sesame tofu (bean curd). It was crispy and light, slightly sweet and spicy and overall tasty. I've tried several other places in the area and this is my fav so far. The veggie spring rolls were also very tasty, but small. Still great tho, I don't love huge portions, but I did wish I had more of these (shared these and my roommate loved them). When I went to pick up inside the place looked clean, although when I went to the counter the couple and their (i assume) daughter did not seem very interested in getting up to help me. The daughter did eventually and she was very kind. Overall I did enjoy my take out experience here and will order here again sometime.

It was maybe 10 minutes later when I got there and my order was already ready! It was still nice and hot so I was pretty impressed. It was $24 for both items which wasn't terrible at all. The restaurant was pretty empty but also quite dark. No hostess at the front--the loud slam of the door was enough to alert someone to come assist me. The level 4 spice I got on my Pad Thai was terrific--noticeable spice and got my sweat ready to drip.. but not crazy spicy where it was inedible. I was also able to taste the nice tang from the pad thai sauce. Chicken was cooked nicely. Overall no complaints. Very tasty! The mango sticky rice was a great end to the meal. The sticky rice was still warm and there was a generous amount of mango to top it. They had the coconut sauce in a separate container which I appreciated. The sauce was more on the runny side, so I wished it was a bit more thick. Overall though, so so tasty. Subtly sweet and had great balance of flavors.
