    Thai Spring Rolls
    Steve A.

Our go-to Thai restaurant. Consistently good food, abundant portions and well presented. Thai spring rolls are an excellent appetizer and any of the fried rice dishes are excellent. Family owned business which takes pride the food served.

    Thai Iced Tea

Drove there on a Saturday night. Parking lot was fairly full. I was a little worried that we would have to wait. It was of course, Saturday night and we had no reservation. We walked in and I was pretty stunned that the entire place was empty, except for us and the hostess/waitress. That was a red flag. But we forged on. Since we were the only customers, service was pretty quick. Menu was a little different. Thai food and some other items like pho and orange chicken, not typical Thai cuisine items. But hey, I understand owners trying to broaden their appeal to stay in business, but that's not always a great sign either. I've been to Thailand and to other places that advertise "Thai street food." This is a fairly standard Thai restaurant menu. No charcoal grilled items or other street delicacies. Thai iced tea was pretty good, served in a cutesy mug. Chicken wings were pretty good. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Sweet chili sauce on the side. Dinner was looking good so far. And then our mains. Thai BBQ Pork. Noticed my dining companion picking at their food. Generally they are a food hoovering machine, if the food is good. This was not the typical behavior and I wondered why. I asked to sample the food. The meat, tough and not very tasty. Not very good. My own main. Duck curry. I was looking forward to it and was really disappointed. I had my first mouthful, with the duck, the curry sauce and some rice and something was just off. Well, more than one thing. Too sour and wondered why. It was the pineapple. Usually the pineapple counters the spice and the sourness of the curry with its sweetness. The chunks of pineapple were all tasteless or somewhat sour. Come on, this is summertime, you can find good fresh sweet pineapple or at least get them from a can at a local store or Costco. Secondly, like the pork, the duck was really dry and overcooked. Some of the pieces of duck were really chewy. I suspect that the meat probably wasn't that fresh. It wasn't bad but probably was stored in a fridge or freezer and got dried out. The hostess/waitress came by and asked if we wanted boxes to take home our left overs. We declined. If the food had been good we would have either finished it all or said yes and placed it in our mini fridge for breakfast. Asked if we wanted dessert. I'm a huge fan of mango with sticky rice. So is my dining companion. But at the price point they were charging for it, almost $12/serving, I felt like it would be a huge gamble that it would be worth $24, given how bad the main dishes were. If this place is the "best Thai food in Connecticut" as some reviewers stated, I'd probably would get Thai food in Massachusetts or New York then.

I only have one other favorite Thai place in the world, which is in Las Vegas. They have blown my mind and I will be back here every week. If not every other week, the roti is perfect. Their waterfall beef blows my mind and their service is exceptional if you don't come here, then you were missing out.

Thai restaurants are not that common to find in CT. This one is definitely worth checking out. The food is very tasty and flavorful. The ingredients seem to be simple enough as the menu mixes a blend of vegetables with proteins and a few different choices of sauces that you can combine with various styles of noodles or rice. The inside of the restaurant is decorated nicely with Thai influences notably placed throughout. Our waitress was very nice about service and extremely helpful with recommendations of food items. I would come here again and recommend it to friends, which I always feel says a lot on its own. Bon appetite!

    Chicken pad thai...delicious!
    Laura C.

Wow, finally!! I think I would dare call this the perfect pad thai. I have had pad thai this quality in Boston, but only came close at one other place in the Hartford area. But this sooo good. Perfect balance of sweet, sour, and salty. My partner got the orange chicken, and wow again! That was perfectly sweet and citrus-y and the perfect amount of crispiness. Definitely will be back

    Egg plant lunch special

The eggplant lunch special was excellent, comes with two tasty fried dumplings & a soup. The lunch is also cheaper than most other places, excellently deal.

I have my go to Thai place but was I a mood to try something new.. I must say it wasn't too bad. They tried to keep the ambience authentic with a bit of modern here and there. The menu is usual We ordered everything from the lunch special which is served with a side of wontons and soup (both were really good) the food was consistent, good but I've had better ... Do check them out if you're in the area!

This place is the best Thai food around. Period. I have other favorites (I see you Elephant Trail) but this place outshines them all. It is worth a drive to and worth the extra effort to order from them, particularly during this pandemic. Our last take out order last night was full of absolute winners: chicken dumplings (so fresh), Thai toasted canapés (what a unique appetizer), tom yum soup (just the right flavor mix), waterfall beef salad (tender steak, good for a post New Years healthier dish). They even did a fried rice without veggies for the kids and have a killer fried chicken for everyone. The owners couldn't be nicer. Make the effort and order from here. You won't be disappointed.

My mom, sister and I decided to try Sala Thai Street Food today. I had read several yelpers reviewa on Sala and all were good. I must say that i was impressed with the customer service and it was such a warm cozy feeling when I walked in. The lady that greeted us was opening for the 2nd time today as they are open from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm they close and reopen at 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm. I really like the ambiance, nice a d quite. They have nice family pics and really cute decor throughout the resturant. They don't have a full bar, they have beer & wine only. My sister and I had the japanese beer Sapporo served in a chilled glass. We decided to order some appetizers , the Thai Wings & Spring Rolls. The thai wings were so crispy on the outside and perfect bite and the spring rolls were tasty wish I had 2nd order as my mom devoured them lol!! My mom entree was the Heavenly Duck, the skin was so damn crispy and she gad her fav jasmine rice served in the cutiest silver bowl. My mom loved her dish and I did too lol!!. My sister entree was specially order extra spicy Pad Tai with chicken. My entree was the Cha Cha Salmon, this dish was delicious. I prefer my salmon medium and it was grilled to perfection and the spicy level was top notch and every flavor just meshed well and the presentation of each dish was flawless. Sala Thai Street Food is real authentic Thai street food and they really take you there with their delicious dishes. I'm telling all yelpers that you need to try Sala Thai Street Food. So yelpers until my next foodie adventure, keep traveling and lets eat our way through the world.#FOODIE4LIFE.

    Fried banana and ice cream
    Nancy F.

We tried this new Thai restaurant - in a long succession of Thai restaurants in this location. I ordered the chicken mango curry dish asking for the minimalist amount of spice. Unfortunately it was still too spicy for me. The woman taking our order -after suggested maybe a change to yellow curry to cut the spice. I am willing to try it again. I returned last night to the restaurant with family. I tried the suggestion of yellow curry with mango added. It did satisfy the no spice taste that I wanted but I will admit it did not have the same sweet flavor of the original mango chicken. The chicken mango was delicious though. The soup with coconut milk and shrimp was delicious. The orange shrimp dish was fabulous- I plan to get this next time! For dessert we had the fried banana and ice cream. The dessert was huge- the banana was not very sweet and grainy in texture but still flavorful. The ice cream was amazing!

Tom Yum, one of the best!

The Blue Elephant Trail's lunch menu is very ambitious. They feature fourteen lunch specials in the $13-$15 range before protein choice that max out at just $3. So, adding Chicken, Beef, Pork, Tofu, Eggplant, Crispy Chicken, Shrimp, Scallop, Squid, or Mixed Seafood is a minimal surcharge. All lunch entrees come with a choice of Vegetable Tom Yum Soup or House Salad with Ginger Dressing. And if you're so inclined, you can convert your entrée into a Bento Box for $3 and add three shrimp Shumai and two Spring Rolls. I ordered a Bento Box of their Ginger Stir Fry with fresh ginger, baby corn, bell peppers, carrots, mushrooms, onions, brown rice, and chicken for $17. It was big enough for two portions. I loved it- the flavor was great, the chicken was delicious, the Tom Yum soup was loaded with vegetables, and the Bento Box goodies (especially the Shu Mai) were perfect. My wife is a big Pad Thai fan, and her Pad Thai lunch ($14) earned high marks. Her portion was also large, so both of us had enough for a second meal.
