I love the curry flavor tour! I think this is the only Thai place I know of that allows you to sample their different types of curry before settling on the one that you want. What a unique concept! I did find it hard to pick just one bc all the curries were so good, and I liked that the staff let me try it in order of mild to hottest so that I can gauge where my tolerance was. I got the ice coffee with coconut milk and the green curry on greens with tofu. I would absolutely order these again. Very takeout friendly but we decided to dine in and the tables were almost full by the time we left. I don't know how she juggled it all but service was great even w the one front desk person balancing all the dine in and take out orders. I actually really the concept of a BYO curry bowl. When I saw this on IG, I had to give it a try. Parking lot can be a little challenging since there's a shared parking area that's shared with the 7-11 in this small strip mall. They had several curry sauces to choose from and I was able to try ones I wasn't familiar with. I actually ended up picking the Khao Soi curry. It was so good! I'm usually a panang curry girl, so I'm glad that there are other curries out there that are substitute worthy. For the protein, I chose the Crispy Chicken thigh, which is better imo than the pork belly that my friend got. The chicken was juicy, perfectly crisp, and seasoned just right. As the side, I decided to try the spicy cucumber salad, which was just okay. I also tried the papaya salad and this was also just okay. I like the aesthetic of the place gave nods to its Thai cuisine. Plenty of seating and the cashier was helpful with explaining the different sauces and how the ordering process works. It's so hard to choose though because I kid you not, they're all so good! During our trip here, I chose the green curry with crispy chicken thigh + Thai corn salad, & my partner got the khao soi with grilled steak + Thai papaya salad. Wowwww, I went to Thailand for the first time this year & the curry here is truly up to par with the food from the motherland. This place recently open and I finally had the opportunity to try it. The location is a little hole in the wall and parking isn't that great. Parking is in a small plaza in the corner of the red light. Inside is pretty nice and very clean. The style is kind of like to go food where the curry is behind a glass and you pick what you like. You can try all the curry flavors before you purchase. There are a couple of tables if you choose to dine in. Food: you select your protein, carbs, curry and then sides to complete your full meal. The crispy pork belly and fried chicken were pretty scrumptious so highly recommend. As for curry....they were all pretty good. The green curry had a little kick to it for those that like a little spice in their life. The portion for the sides were pretty big. Highly recommend the spicy cabbage. Disclaimer for the ones that list "crab" included in there, it's the fermented crab pieces not a whole soft shell crab or regular crab pieces. If you are not familiar with fermented things then I wouldn't get it. It def wasn't for me! The Kao soi curry and the yellow curry were delicious. Kao soi had more flavor, it was sweet and salty at the same time so it went perfectly with the crispy fried proteins. The Yellow curry was not as flavorful but great if you eat it over rice. Randomly found CocoCurry on social media and their food looked so good that I had to check it out, and I'm so glad I did! This place has such a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted by one of the owners, who was incredibly friendly. She welcomed us in, asked if we had been there before, and once she found out it was our first visit, she offered us samples of the different curry options. Every curry we tried was delicious and unique in its own way. My personal favorite was the Panang, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their options. The concept is build-your-own, so you choose your curry, carb (rice or noodles), protein, and any additional toppings. I went with the Panang curry with crispy duck and egg noodles, and it was amazing. The duck skin was perfectly thin and crispy, while the meat was juicy, succulent, and packed with flavor. The Panang curry had the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors with a nice little kick of spice. The egg noodles were cooked perfectly and really brought the whole dish together. Small restaurant but good food. Initially parking can be a challenge due to the lot size and being next to a 7-11 but once you get inside, you are greeted with friendly service and a fun environment. This was our first time here but was recommended from a friend and they did not disappoint. If you are unsure what to get, they will let you sample the curry flavors to help your decision. After having khao soi recently in Chiang Mai Thailand we had to try the one here. It was tasty, had a good consistency and was nicely presented. You can try all their curries before you choose. Even though it will only make your choice harder because all of them taste amazing. Seemed to be quite a few first timers. There's a small parking lot with tight spots that is shared with nearby businesses like a barber and 7-Eleven. I would probably recommend just parking on the street nearby. The place had about three four tops, six two tops, and a handful of bar stool seats facing the window/ parking lot. We were greeted immediately asked if we were first-timers, and were offered samples of all their Curry sauces. All were pretty tasty and had no spice to little spice as the baseline. They take your order at your table -- pick your protein, curry, then base. Add sides (+$) or heat if you'd like. Appetizers, drinks, and some alcohol (beer & wine) options available. We ordered the chicken curry puffs - which was plated with a bit of curry sauce. Would order again. For main foods: I ordered the Khao Soi with egg noodles, grilled steak, a fried egg (+$3) with medium heat. My friend ordered the yellow curry, with crispy chicken, and vegetables (+$1: bean sprouts, cabbage and lime), and hot. Medium was explain to be one step above the heat of the samples we had. I would say it was still pretty mild, but tasty. Friend's 'hot' felt more like a 3-4 out of 10. Her plate definitely could have done with more curry, but we were otherwise pretty happy with our food. Was recommended this place by a friend and stopped by to try it. Since it was my first visit the hostess had me sample their four curries so I can get an idea of what I liked. I ended up choosing the green curry as it had a nice spicy undertone. The menu allows you to choose a curry, protein, rice or noodles and sides. I opted for the chicken breast which ended up being a nice large cut but super soft and juicy. The jasmine rice was also super tasty and the combination of the green curry at medium spice level with the chicken was amazing. I also ordered a side of spicy cucumbers which were garlicky and spicy and went well with the main dish. For the drink I chose the home made limeade which was limey and sweet, delicious. Wow. Honestly one of those hidden gems you're glad you stumbled across. Coco Curry is tucked into a small Asian plaza off El Cajon Blvd, looks kind of intimidating from the outside, but the inside is clean, calming, and super welcoming. Love the music! We were helped by Leta who gave us a full rundown of the menu and even offered samples of the curries to help us decide, which you don't really see anywhere. What an adorable Thai cafe in addition to the Little Saigon area. They've been open for around 3 weeks now and I've been eager to come! We got to sample their curry sauces before ordering. There are four steps to order: 1. Choose your protein 2. Choose a curry 3. Choose a base 4. Select your side It was a hard decision but the sampling concept helps my indecisive self to make a better decision! I chose the Fried Chicken Thigh with Khao Soi, with a side of Brown Rice and papaya salad. AMAZING combination. I would highly recommend. The fried chicken was cut into bite sized pieces and was fried to perfection. Usually Khao Soi goes great with chicken so I paired those two together. The Khao Soi comes with a garnish of mustard greens (my fave) and some red onion. The side I chose papaya salad and it was refreshing and crunchy! I added some more spicy sauce to the salad to have more flavor. Their Thai coffee is bomb! If you're looking for a mild version of Vietnamese coffee, Thai coffee is the way to go. Their Thai Tea is on the sweeter side as well as the coffee. So glad CoCoCurry has been introduced to the area. The Build Your Own Curry idea is unique and the dishes are prepared thoughtfully. It's like Vietnamese coffee but without the bitterness and the sweetness is well balanced with coconut cream/milk and not super sweet like condense milk. Must try! CoCoCurry is a new Thai eatery located just east of a popular pho restaurant in the City Heights neighborhood. There were only a handful of parking spaces marked with pylons and signs that were shared between the businesses in the strip mall. The inside of the suite had countertop, high top, and regular table seating for two dozen customers. The lady owner who was staffing the register was warm and pleasant. She asked if I wanted to sample the different curries to which I gladly agreed. The five varieties were stored in metal containers on display at the service counter like at a gelato shop. A menu sheet described the step-by-step ordering process. The first was to choose from one of five protein categories (vegan, poultry, pork, beef, seafood). There were two to three selections within each category. Next was to pick one of the five curries. Thirdly was to select a base of rice or noodles. The last was to add one side out of seven possibilities. My order consisted of Grilled Pork Steak, Yellow Curry, Egg Noodles, and a Boiled Egg. The food was presented in a plastic takeout container even though I was dining in. The pork steak was a shoulder cut of meat divided into smaller pieces. Carrots, potatoes, and onions were blended in with the mild tasting curry. The soft-boiled egg was sliced in half and placed in a separate well within the container. My only nitpick would be the portion size of the noodles as there should have been more for the price that was discounted 10% for the soft opening promotion. Overall, I gave a rating between four and five stars for my dining experience at CoCoCurry with kudos towards the customer service. read more

You can taste curries before ordering just like you taste flavors of ice cream. Every request was met with a smile. Two nitpicky little things: all the curries are made mild, and I want scorching hot! Not a mild curry you add pepper flakes after the fact, but a curry MADE hot where the flavors are infused in the curry itself. I found this place via Grubhub. It's located in a small plaza, next to a 7-11. The decor is very cute, unlike many of other Thai places. Lita (i think that's her name) was very welcoming. She told me that it's the 10th day opening for them. She offered me some curry samples. There are five different types of curry - Khao Soi, Yellow, Penang, Green and Massaman. My favorite was Khao Soi. I ordered Chicken with Penang curry and Thai Papaya Salad and Beef with Massaman and Corn Salad. They were very tasty and salad was refreshing. Lita also offered us free Thai tea and Thai coffee. They were also really good. I really liked her customer service and I will definitely go back again. I heard about this casual Thai curry restaurant through the recommendations of a local skate shop, and had to try it for myself. Right off the bat, their customer service is top notch, friendly, and attentive. Their curry is bold, flavorful, and authentic; I ordered the Panang shrimp curry. Every single ingredient in the meal tasted fresh--from the grilled shrimp to the boiled egg, and even their house made lime juice.
