One cool thing about this grill is that they make sushi rolls and you can watch them make it. There, I met Chef Jenny. She took the time to educate us, a little on making a good roll. That was a cool conversation. I had the salmon roll. I watched it being made and liked it lol. I would order it again. The jerk chicken wings were very good. Both dishes were enjoyable. My girls & I visited Newport Beach for a day of sun & fun. From the start of our day Sebastian which is 1 of the pool attendance was great with getting us square away with out towels & pool chairs. We had Anthony as our server, he made some menu recommendations for food & drinks. Which everything was well prepared & came out in a timely manner. Marc who was also in the pool area that day also came around from time to time to be sure we had everything we needed. I'm not sure of the managerial name but she too was very attentive to us, by being sure we didn't need anything. Overall our experiences at the pool was great. I was visiting the spa and decided to grab some food as I was early. The pool area is dated but figured we would grab something quick to eat. The food was not good. I ordered the conch fritters that supposedly came with a remolaude sauce but the sauce that came with it was yellow gel and smelled really bad. The conch fritters was blah. I ordered the wings which were the only decent thing. My friend ordered the fish tacos and couldn't get through the 2nd one. We ordered a mojito and Bloody Mary. Both drinks were not great. If you have to go here probably best to stick to draft beer and fries. read more

They don't need my recommendation, cause they are jammed packed all day, everyday, BUT they are gonna get it anyway, cause I think I pretty much rock!!! The lobster club is absolutely amazing, jerk chicken wings are amazing and pretty much all the things I tried the past two times are excellent. The service at Coconuts was great, however I wasn't super jazzed about the food, menu, or ambiance. Coconuts is a bar inside of a hotel right on the ocean. You can sit inside at the bar or outside at a tiki hut. From the bar, you have a nice view of the pool and water, however with the crowded hotel lobby, chirping birds in cages, and packed pool, I felt like I was in a weird crowded airport. I was really sad when we ordered food to dine in, and even though there were paper straws being on the ocean, literally everything else was plastic. Plastic cups, utensils, and the food was even served in plastic to-go containers. I would have been happier with just paper plates for dining in. Really no veggie options other than a kids grilled cheese or the hummus appetizer. Again, the staff was very quick and accommodating, which was nice. I'm sure it's fine if you're staying at the hotel and just want a drink or quick snack, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here as a local. read more

We stopped in here for a drink. While there are signs that say you need a wrist band to enter [assuming to show you're a hotel guest], we were not challenged about this. The bartenders are polite and pour a good, albeit expensive, drink. But we expected this as it is a large resort. We stayed for 2 drinks and left. The place really isn't our type of place, it's a really big resort and it's very uppity. We saw lots of well to do's there and almost all the women seemed really snooty. Just not our speed. We got there at 5pm which is when their grill closed but at 5:30 they serve food from the restaurant inside called Kitchen 305. We had the queso dip which was piping hot made with poblano Chile's and chorizo served with chips. This hit the spot while we sipped on our drinks. Great service. Great food. Great drinks. Every time I visit the Newport Resort I make sure to come to this bar. I usually get the wings which are so good. This time I got a burger and it was delicious. The burger came with lettuce, tomato, onions and a pickle spear. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned great. I also love their french fries. They are skinny fries which I love. I had a vodka and cranberry and the drink was made perfectly. Just the right amount of alcohol. The bartenders are all very friendly and pleasant. read more

My boyfriend and I are staying at the Newport Beach and resort for 5 days. Since we didn't eat breakfast we decided to eat here for lunch. I had the lobster tacos. Which for the price and the taste. EVERYONE SHOULD TRY!! I was very happy with my meal. I also had the side of onion rings instead do fries. My boyfriend had the mai mai sandwich. Which he really liked but he had a bite of my tacos (which you get a total of 3) and really liked mine over his. The food is cooked right there at the bar. So it is not far. First off, the hotel that Coconuts is located in (Newport Beachside) is the trashiest looking hotel on the entire strip. They don't show you the outside of it, which looks like it was hit by 5 consecutive category 5 hurricanes. The outside pool and tiki area provide a nice view of the ocean, so you can literally eat on the beach. But the food itself was just awful. They don't have all the menu items available, which wasn't the worst thing in the world considering we are in a pandemic and they must scale back on some things. I ordered a burger instead, which the waitress insisted was very good. It wasn't. Bland, overcooked, and gave me bubble guts. My girlfriend ordered the Mahi basket. The fish was dry, with a side of fries and lettuce, tomato, and onion (it was supposed to be a salad). They take out gratuity on your bill, which is an issue considering the lack of attentiveness we dealt with. Unless you want to sit on the toilet for a while, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT eat here. read more
