I was very reluctant to write a negative review for my local cafe as I have been a frequent customer of Cocoon for 6 years. I have noticed the service and overall quality on a steady decline- mostly in the past year since their "renovation". I'm not sure what has happened, but the staff (although often friendly enough) appears to not know rudimentary things or have any proper barista training. I will just stick to the pump-pot coffee from now on or iced drinks because the past few lattes I have received were nothing more than mediocre espresso with warm milk (no foam whatsoever). They are always out of things, which is fine and understandable once in a while, but this has been an ongoing saga. There appears to be utter neglect of details within the space: even when the cafe is quiet and 2 people are staffed, the tables are unwiped, the toilet paper roll is empty, stuff is on the floor, and things look generally unkempt. I wanted to get a fruit cup today and the few that were on top should have clearly been tossed out, as the fruit was practically melted inside. How was this not noticed by the two people working? I suppose this all comes down to poor management and lack of employee training, and it's a shame. I used to be so happy this place existed in our neck of the woods but now I just go when I need to and am reluctant to send friends and visitors there. I have been coming here for a while. I like this place a lot. I do have to say though it needs to work on service. They recently revamped the interior and have more people working, yet somehow the service is slower and worse. I like they recently expanded the menu but that might be impacting getting orders out timely. read more

One person working at 9am on Sunday. No pastries at all. Apparently the bakery has not delivered yet. Ordered lattes and croissant sandwiches. The lattes were so sweet I couldn't even drink mine and of course the croissants were stale. Ugh. Was really hoping for a good experience here it was highly recommended. read more

It was a very pleasant environment, all the staff was very nice, however I paid almost $6 for basically kraft Mac n cheese. I did not like it at all, and I definitely preferred the old Mac n cheese you guys had. I will not be buying anymore Mac n cheese from you unless you bring back the good stuff. read more

This little coffee house is just a gem! I had the turkey and brie panini. They were out of the cranberry mayo so they made it for me with hummus instead and IT. WAS. AMAZEBALLS. the brie they use is delicious!! I seriously enjoyed it. I also had a pumpkin pie latte and it was just divine. Hubby had a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a plain bagel and devoured it so I'm guessing he thought it was pretty good. His gingerbread latte was delicious too read more

Me and my girlfriends did a weekend trip in lake wallapaupack and we were looking for a coffee shop. The cocoon coffee house was clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. There was a long line but the staff was very helpful. I got the breakfast burrito and the nutty English muffin and both were great! Definitely recommend for a cute coffee shop in the area. read more

Whenever I visit Lake Wallenpaupack I end up coming here almost every morning! Good coffee drinks and a decent food menu with friendly service. The space itself is cozy too. Several of us had lunch at the cocoon this past Saturday. We put our order in at 2:07 -- chicken sandwiches. Twenty minutes later they came to our table to tell us that they were out of chicken. Twenty minutes we waited simply to be told they just found out there was no chicken. Then we make another order and sit back down just to be told a minute later that they now have chicken so we go back to our original order. Then we wait for another 18 minutes to finally receive our sandwiches at about 2:45. Then they say that we 'didn't wait that long'. I really want to give this place more stars even simply for the ambience and outdoor view of the silk mill but because: - it took an hour to get our paninis (I'm not a whining review critic by any means but it should not take an hour for a grilled cheese with turkey) - the paninis weren't even that great - the girl who took our order had the worst disposition. I felt like I was at the DMV - we shared a table with strangers (kinda weird) I couldn't do more than three stars. What saved it from being two stars was that the manager realized how long our order took, apologized and gave us a box of cookies to thank you for our wait. The look and feel of this place is exactly the kind of industrial city turned small town spot that places like Starbucks are trying to emulate. This is the real deal. 2. Coffee and espresso drinks are delicious. They also offer a great menu of locally made pastries and sandwiches. 3. Wi-Fi is free and seating is ample and comfortable both inside and out. 4. We will never go back. Don't be fooled by the 4 star rating on yelp! First red flag was when the woman that took our order told us they were out of bacon and turkey. Then she double checked and realized they did have bacon. Then she told us they were out of Chai so I couldn't get the beverage I initially ordered. They didn't have the correct change in the register so one of the employees took it out of his pocket. If it wasn't bad enough that this coffee shop is extremely disorganized, my husband had an egg shell on his egg/cheese sandwich. The coffee beverage I ordered tasted like steamed milk without the coffee. As I overheard others placing their orders, it became apparent that turkey and Chai weren't the only items they were out of. Also, it was concerning that I saw flies buzzing around the interior of the building, which had me questioning the cleanliness of the kitchen. read more

Cocoon is a delightful spot. I only wish I were in Hawley more often! I LOVE their coffees and cappuccinos, grain and fruit salads. At times I wish there was more food prepared on the spot but I would gladly fill my belly with their drinks. I think I would spend much more time there if I could get a larger meal... maybe I would never leave! The service is great and I always leave with a huge smile. I will even admit that If my destination is somewhere past Cocoon I will go out of the way to stop there before AND after my appointment or whatever it may be. It is a super cute and comfortable cafe with a really extensive sandwich and salad menu. They have great coffee and great (very large) sandwiches. For anyone who plays Pokémon, there is a gym and pokestop accessible from Cocoon. The only reason they lose a star is because the Mac and cheese is definitely Kraft and I HATE that. My wife and I have been going to Cocoon weekly for years. It was one of our favorite spots to recharge. Recently, they have made some changes, including, it appears, to the staff. What used to be the best coffee (especially cappuccinos) has become some of the worst. While the selection of available food and drink options has increased, the quality of both products and service has disimproved tremendously. I am sorry to say that our weekly tradition will have to be continued in a place that offers more pride in its offerings and more respect toward its clientele. read more

I stayed at a nearby hotel for a few days. It seems as though Cocoon gets a fair number of customers, but I'm thinking that's only the case because there aren't any nearby comparable coffee shops. The staff is not trained in a consistent or standardized fashion, so the specialty drinks vary wildly. Prices are steep but within reason for the region. Drink menu is limited, and the staff's lack of training discourages going off menu. Overall, I ended up opting to save a few bucks on my last day in the area by choosing gas station coffee - rather than having another mediocre experience at Cocoon. read more

This place is the best place to go around here to get coffee. It's so much better, and the drinks and atmosphere are more authentic, than anything else around. The pastries are yummy, and the coffee is even better. I love their lattes, the foam is always done right. They have an incredible variety of flavor shots (much better than the handful you can get at Dunkin') but the coffee is still excellent without it. I love the raspberry and vanilla in their iced coffee. The place is beautifully decorated, with low lighting and an authentic coffee shop feel. It has couches, tables, and outdoor seating. They have rotating artwork from local artists on the walls and lots of books. Which basically is all you need, books and coffee. But you get another bonus, the baristas always offer excellent service and make you feel welcome. read more

The atmosphere was great. Most of the Batistas were nice. But there was one really rude woman who worked there. She sighed, rolled her eyes a lot, and she never said you're welcome. She acted like waiting on me was an inconvenience. On top of not having good customer service, she was unsanitary. She didn't wash her hands and touched a customers sandwich with her bare hands (gross!) I recommend going here but if you see an older woman with a short hair cut and glasses run the other way and come back later! read more
