The staff is on Fire this year. The food has been great, all the pastries are amazing, and the service is perfect. I have enjoyed everything we have tried and the food comes out in a very timely manner. I have left a negative review in the past, so it's only fair that I commend them for turning it around. I waited in line for literally 25minutes and, there were only three people in front for me (yes I'm a total sucker)! Obviously I was in no rush at all and really wanted just wanted some coffee, the reason I stayed there was I just figured the line was 'just about to move'... It wasn't. Apparently they had only one person there to handle all tasks (in the front at least) and the other "barista" was on break. You could tell there wasn't much work ethic going on. As far as the coffee goes, it was just sitting in one of those thermos things with the top that you squeeze. Each time the poor girl behind the counter pressed the dispenser she was scolded by the coffee. She didn't seem like she was having a great day, it was probably because she was alone behind the counter while the line piled up. Completely not her fault and totally mismanaged or maybe I could say 'not managed'. The coffee was bland and honestly rivaled by maxwell house or Chock full o'Nuts K-cups. As far as the crowd goes; in a really cool super American/patriotic area they managed to creat a magnet for liberal weirdos to rival any Head Shop or Hillary Clinton rally. There were a couple of guys just hanging out inside who were leaning all over the place totally high on heroin (i'm 99.9% sure of this) they were in really bad shape, I feel extremely bad for people in that position because nobody sets out to become a "junky" (I hate that word) on purpose. But it illustrates that this coffee shop apparently really is a magnet for derelicts and completely tolerates it. I would've thrown them right out, they didn't even appear to be customers, just unsavory characters with children around no less. As I get older (just turned 40) I just have less and less tolerance for that crap. On the beautiful patio there was a different sort of deviant. About five or six, college professors from about 35 to 70 years of age from the adjacent college. Very pseudo-intellectual's and super "politically correct" from the conversation I overheard. One word on so-called 'political correctness'; it is "fascism pretending to be matters" (-George Carlin), and it is pretty much the only thing in the world that offends me. While leaving I walked by wearing my Trump shirt and the older man who seemed to fancy himself as the Earnest Hemingway type (hardly) very predictably scoffed (liberal tolerance? ).This is only relevant because it sums up the crowd at this place; deviant and/or pretentious but either way downright weird. Unfamiliar with the area, we were pleased to happen upon Cocoon. That was the beginning and end of the pleasure, though. We ordered coffee drinks, a scone that turned out to be too hard and dry to eat and an 'avocado' toast. 'Avocado' because the crappy green packaged preservative-laden matter that was placed on the bread is not in any way avocado. Not cool to call it that. The woman behind the counter was unable to contain her attitude and tried arguing that what she was serving was indeed avocado toast. Maybe eating that nasty spread leads to nasty sass. read more

Cute place in the middle of a lot of driving. They have everything you'd expect from a coffee shop- coffee, espresso drinks, hot chocolate, pastries, sandwiches.. I think they even have mild booze?? They have magazines and coloring books (with colored pencils!) so it's a great spot to kill time or meet up with friends. Abundant seating (stools, chairs, benches..) so you can go with a group or stay by yourself. Service is generally fine. The Cocoon has been my go to coffee stop for years. However, the last couple months have progressively disappointed me. I went today and the prices are high, and the quality is no longer there. Lattes only come in one size (small) they are close to $5. My mocha was a half a cup of foam. Then they had a fancy looking cupcake with a chocolate pretzel on top. Very appealing. $4.25. These cupcakes are not your fancy NYC artisan cupcakes. This was a cold hard stale overpriced cupcake. One word: Disgusting. ~$9 for a small cup of foam with a shot of espresso mixed with chocolate and a stone hard cupcake. I am completely done with the Cocoon. I keep giving them another chance, but this is unacceptable. If you are going to charge this much, don't serve stale gas station quality crap. read more

In what would be considered a criminal offence in a proper Third Wave coffee town like LA or Seattle, my espresso drink was made with a Keurig-like household machine. I was speechless as the pod was dropped in. I reached for a defibrillator when hot water was added to make it resemble an Americano. To be fair, it was mentioned that this was temporary until they get their espresso machine is fixed, but no apology was made, and I was charged the same. That being said, it would not have made much of a difference. Like a shipwrecked sailor tricked by my mind into thinking I could drink seawater to quench my thirst, I've been to Cocoon coffee about 20 times. It always falls below expectations in taste, even though I think it might get better. Do not buy whole bean bags here without checking the roast date (it is on a sticker on the bottom of the bag). Today I found a bag that was roasted on 2/29, nearly a month ago. If you're going to pay the $16 price for 12oz, you're paying a premium price for mediocre beans that should have been pulled off the shelf two weeks ago. Lastly, service is disengaged and appears to be annoyed. Sorry Cocoon. You really must know that you overcharge for very average product without a smile. read more

Would not recommend at all. What could be a very cool and hip atmosphere is definitely ruined by its service and menu. The service was incredibly slow. It took 30 minutes for them to pour an iced tea, heat up a piece of quiche, make a simple breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee. The service wasn't helpful. When asked what kind of bread my husband wanted in his sandwich or what kind of cheese he wanted they didn't offer what they had so he would suggest something to which then they would say "We don't have that." Well then please tell us what you DO have so we're not wasting our time at playing a guessing game. They were advertising menu items such as Donut Sundays yet they had no donuts. And not just ran out of donuts but had no donuts at all. During our visit we also saw them serve burnt, not just browned toast, but burnt bagels and toast. If you're in a hurry or want your order messed up in any way do not stop here. read more

I had the worst customer service experience there this week. I ordered a portobello wrap, which had, guess, no portobellos. When I brought it back the response was, "well we have no portobellos." And in a rude way, "do you still want it?" They didn't mention not having portobellos when I ordered it, and two or three of the staff were very upset with ME, as if I had done something to them. Very unpleasant and inexcusable. To add to the insult, the quiche I chose to eat insted was pretty bad. I will not set foot in Cocoon Coffee House again. read more

This place was SUPER cool. It is build in what looks like the shed or gardener's area of an old silk mill so there is tons of exposed rock and an extra large door, which makes it accessible to all. The food is what you would expect of a cafe, sandwiches, salads and smoothies but with the feel of a "cool" Starbucks because there is a used bookstore inside as well as an area to play games. Definitely a great spot for a play date or for a cozy date. read more

Really neat architecture in an old building, with plenty of seating and nice atmosphere for getting work done. Lots of groups so it got a little loud. The coffee was ok but nothing special. Had an expresso and asked for a ceramic cup but it came in a full-size coffee cup (quite frankly ruining the experience of savoring a proper expresso). My boyfriend and I went here as part of the Fire and Ice package provided by the Settlers Inn. We ordered the Asian BBQ sandwich an Iced Coffee and the Peach, Apricot, and something else smoothie. The sandwich was okay, lots of bread, skimped on the meat and slaw that was allegedly included in the sandwich but had it had actual meats and veggies in it, it would've been great because it was quite flavorful. My smoothie was great, until we left Cocoon and I had a stomach ache for hours. I'm not sure if it was the smoothie or the sandwich or a combo of both but something I ate didn't agree with me at all and it made for a less than enjoyable rest of the day spent lying in bed and being unable to eat my dinner that night. I'm sure the food is good, I really enjoyed the ambiance but I just wasn't a huge fan of my experience. read more

They were out of certain foods in the late afternoon, but that was ok, we just ordered something different. Jacob, one of the employees, took our order and was very friendly (both times). This may in fact be the coolest place to have coffee in the next 20 miles. After coming up to the lake we struggled to find somewhere where we could get a decent cup of coffee but the last day we got to come and try cocoon and was pleasantly surprised. The coffee was smooth the espresso was complex and delicious and the atmosphere was casual and open.
