If I could give this place a 0 I absolutely would, all the water is straight out of the tap, the food and other drinks are overpriced--not to mention the food itself isn't great at all. I'm not one to write negative reviews on places since I love to support small business but thought while it's fresh in my mind I should share our experience. We were one of three tables in there and still waited nearly 45 minutes (for tacos!). The rice and beans were a zero compared to authentic rice and beans. I was charged for each refill of iced tea which I thought was odd! not to mention the loud vacuum our server thought to run right next to us as we were still eating as they were still open for another hour & 20 mins. $60 for a few tacos, chips & salsa and one iced tea? I am EASILY a huge fan of Coco's Cocina ! The food is amazing. It's made with love everytime! Very tasty and nothing next to dry. It's became a favorite spot I often suggest friends and family to go. It's amazing. It's a very cozy welcoming restaurant. Now for the service, their service is almost just as great as the food!! You're greeted rather fast!! My only suggestion would be for the waitress, when refills are needed I often find myself and others feeling the need to bring our cups back up and ask for another if not, you won't get one! However food 100/10 , service 9/10 I also wish they had an app where you can gain points ... you'll understand once you start going and can't stop !! read more

The food was mid. There was a chicken bone in my taco the size of a penny. Our Server was rude. She kept looking at me as if I was asking stupid questions. I was a bit hesitant to try Coco's Cocina because many of the recent reviews are negative, but I'm glad that I trusted my gut and stopped by. My friend and I outdoor dined at one of the three tables set out on the sidewalk. The prices were reasonable and comparable to most sit-down Mexican restaurants ($12-$16 per entree). Our food was out in 10-15 minutes. I had the enchiladas, with a choice of avocado inside and topped with salsa verde. Other options for the filling included chicken, beef, pork, shrimp, or mushrooms. Vegetarian Mexican food can be hit-or-miss, but these enchiladas were perfect. The avocado filling was fresh and not browned or mushy at all. The salsa verde had a nice kick to it and was well-balanced with the Oaxaca cheese on top. Rice & beans came with the entree. Overall, the portions were generous and I was very full afterward. My friend and I also ordered a side of chips & salsa but had to save them for later because we were too full--it was $4 for a large paper bag full of chips. The only thing that would've made the experience complete is a margarita or two, but Coco's Cocina only sells non-alcoholic mocktails. read more

I got take-out and was extremely disappointed in the enchiladas. Little sauce, no cheese on top, just a few pieces of pork rolled in the shell. The beans & rice were tasteless. Had I been in the restaurant to eat, it would have been returned to the kitchen. I called several times asking if I should return the meals (figured the owner may want to know about the lack of quality), but no return call from manager. Despite my previous review, this restaurant has won me over. The Chicken quesadilla I ordered was amazing. I am writing this inbetween my meal to acknowledge the improvement that's been shown between my last visit and now. The chef brought out a special sauce he made for me to try and I love it. Wow.... this place was bad! From the service to the food. The entire restaurant had just 1 server (14+ tables), the food was basic, and the rice and beans were flavorless, the rubber tenders.... sorry, chicken tenders were horrible. I'm really not sure how they are still in business. Maybe they get more from take out. I cannot tell you how long were were there just waiting to get the server to come over. And, they have the nerve to charge 4% service charge for credit cards.... they should be paying me the 4% to eat here read more

This was one of the worst meals I've ever been served. First, the chips and queso - the queso was, no joke, the plastic cheese food that comes in a can that you get at 7-11. Bright yellow, weirdly textured and mildly spicy goo. $7 for about a 1/3 cup of it and some chips from the bag. Unfortunately, I'd ordered my enchilada to be served with queso before the chips had arrived. My enchilada was chorizo with queso. So, when you get chorizo in a Mexican restaurant, the chewy casing is removed and the meat gets cooked and crumbled. It's very strong juju, so you use a light hand and add other ingredients - lettuce, tomato, maybe rice, beans or sour cream, maybe cheese. Nope! This was a store bought flour tortilla (menu said corn, but it was flour) with like a whole stick of chorizo cut up like a sliced up hot dog - casing on, big ole slices and not a single other ingredient. Ladle some 7-11 Cheez on top and serve it for $18. Rice was mushy and had no flavor - even salt would have helped. Beans on my husband's plate were canned. Folks I was with had enchiladas as well - the chicken was "meh" "kind of nothing" and the mushroom: "it was mushrooms". 1/10 would not recommend! read more

Coco's Cocina is right across the street from the Broadway Theatre of Pitman and next to Sweet Lula's, a nice, traditional Italian restaurant owned by the same couple. But you really don't need these directions. You'll easily find Coco's while driving down the street. You can't miss the glamorous, flashy, bright red signage. It's right in the heart of town. Walk in to find a BYO, seat-yourself establishment and offers a seriously affordable menu. Chips and salsa, or guac, or queso, run about $4. All entrees (regular or wet burritos, tacos any style, quesadillas, etc., with preferred protein/veg) are $9 and come with rice and your choice of pinto or refried beans. Keep in mind it IS "Tex-Mex" in that nothing is overly spicy; therefore, it is a good eatery for folks who don't mix it up much with their diets or want a "tame" meal. You can add hot sauce, however. The vibe inside is very relaxed with a good number of tables and a food truck mural with a window that peeks into the kitchen. A jingle rings each time food is sitting and ready to be served. Mexican sodas, regular fountain pours, and virgin margaritas are available as drink options. So originally here (before writing all that basic info), I included the long story of the visit with my mom from earlier this week. But it bored me so I deleted it. Basically the experience culminated with owner/chef/puppeteer/entertainer Anthony Asbury sitting at our table coaxing her to eat churros for the first time. It was hilarious but probably one of those "you had to be there" moments. But I will say that both owners are super friendly/funny/accommodating, and those qualities clearly align with their effective business operations. My mom and I split the chips and queso app to start. Both the chips and the dip were delicious. No kick. If you want queso with a kick, go down the street to the other Mexican spot in town. For my meal, I had the chicken tinga quesadilla. Again, no kick, nothing fancy, but just good, gooey toasted tortilla with chicken. The addition of sour cream with lettuce on the side was nice. I also really enjoyed my rice and would probably ask to get two sides of it instead of the beans in the future. My mom had the pork carnitas tacos. The entree comes with three, and you get your choice of shell. She went with crispy, and liked them. As mentioned, she also had the churros (with Jack Daniel's bourbon butterscotch sauce) and ate them all rather quickly despite complaints of them being "too hot." I had a bite and would definitely save more room for them in the future. I really enjoyed my first visit to this new spot in Pitman. I met my group of friends here on a Tuesday late afternoon for great food and gab! Our server was attentive as well as informative- we all had the chimichanga - the fish and shrimp were delicious. The food was good. It was a long wait for the food so unfortunately it was a little cold. It's a bit pricey for the amount you receive with x-amount of people. Great for two people...but more than three, you're going to need to double your appetizer order. Our waitress was very slow with getting what we needed but very quick to give us the bill and have us leave. It's a small place, however the speed of things need to pick up a little more. I don't know if the owner was there or not, but this place is still a baby and you need to treat it as if it's YOUR baby and watch it grow. Good for a date night. I would definitely recommend this place to my fellow Mexican-food lovers! I had a great experience at Coco's. I arrived with a party of four and we were seated immediately and attended to quickly after. We started with the red wine sangria and my party and I really enjoyed it. They used a local wine and I thought that was a really good touch of authenticity. Shortly after the sangria arrived, we ordered our appetizers and they came out fresh and hot. The plantains are a must if you come here! They came with a side of very flavorful chipotle sauce. The menu is small but has a lot of wiggle room to adjust the meal to your liking. They have general items such as burritos, tacos, fajitas, etc.. which all have a base and you choose your protein. The meals arrived in a timely manner and we all loved them! The tacos were stuffed! I ordered a shrimp burrito and it was huge! I am making a lunch out of it tomorrow for sure! Everything had a lot of flavor and was really good, I can't wait to come back. Oh! & Coco's seems to have a signature (maybe homemade?) hot sauce! It was fantastic. Absolutely horrendous experience. Everything was served in take out containers even tho we were dining in. The server was slow, rude, and not helpful. The food felt like canned ingredients thrown together and microwaved. We were very unhappy with the meal and when the bill came out, the prices were higher than what was shown on the menu. The server said that the prices on the menu were old and not up to date. To overcharge us and than blame it on old menus is extremely deceptive behavior and they have no business charging $16 for a garbage quality burrito. We came here for lunch on Friday. The place was empty except for one other two top. While our waitress was friendly, she was clueless as to what was on the menu. We ended up ordering the fish tacos ($9 for three) the guacamole with chips ($5) and my friend got the shrimp taco special which was about $12. The food was okay but unremarkable. There was nothing that would make me want to come back and try anything else. If you happen to walk by and want Mexican it would be okay. Certainly would not go out of my way to eat here. This place has potential but just doesn't live up to it. They nickel and dime for everything, (I've never been to a Mexican style restaurant that wanted to charge for chips and salsa. EVER). $6 for Mexican Street Corn, it comes with one cob, but it was literally the smallest corn on the cob I've ever seen, never even seen them that small at the grocery store. The menu sounds delicious and the food could've been good but it lacked flavor. The meat tastes like there was no seasoning at all, the Roja sauce also had no flavor. It's sad because this place could be great and business could be booming but with the other Mexican style restaurants around that give you a better value and much better flavor they're not even in the running. Unfortunately I did not get to try the food. My girlfriend and I walked in and weren't greeted by anyone. Not sure if we should just sit at a table or wait, we walked to the back of the restaurant where an employee was leaning on the counter playing on her phone. I thought she'd look up considering my girlfriend and I were talking as well. There were two people seated inside the restaurant, so it was very quiet. The employee did not look up from her phone. If you read any of my reviews you know that my husband and I are always on the lookout for some good authentic Mexican food. Recently moving to the area we were stoked to find Coco's on our search for some Mexican food near our new house. I liked the atmosphere and vibe of Coco's located right on Pitman's main downtown strip. It's made to look like you're eating outside from a food truck. Trendy, yes, and I was all about it. All about it, until I saw the menu. We ordered the sampler ($8) of chips, guac, salsa, and queso. As you can see from my picture, it should have cost about $3. Extremely disappointed in the amount they give you for how much they charge. We asked if we could get extra chips since they clearly skimped, but the waitress didn't know how much of an up-charge that would be and never came back to tell us. As per a typical non-authentic Mexican restaurant you have to order 3 tacos and they all have to be the same meat. *eye roll* I'm usually good with one or two tacos and I like to switch up between chicken, steak, carnitas, al pastor, etc. Nothing beats getting two tacos (enough to fill you) and two different meats. I wasn't surprised at the 3 taco rule, but then unbeknownst to me (and my own fault for skimming the menu) they serve their tacos with lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese. When they came out an my server saw my look of horror she asked what was wrong and I asked if I could get them "Mexican style" with onions and cilantro. She said they don't do that. I settled in for my $9 Taco Bell meal. Everything was just OK. My husband ordered a burrito that seemed pretty large but he was not impressed, especially by his $1.50 side of rice that was in the same containers as the salsa you see you below. I came to Pitman to visit one of the breweries (closed all day or early Mother's Day) and decided to get a bite first. The wait staff are not well trained or informed. I asked for a couple of tortillas with my soup, and received a stack of chips. Then I was informed that she didn't know how much extra tortillas would cost. A family with 2 small children came in and asked for child seats. They were asked how many children will need seats. One of the waiters could not recommend or describe an item on the menu to a nearby table. This restaurateur should give up trying to serve food to the public or go into a different business. read more

Went here after seeing a matinee show at the Broadway Theater at Pitman across the street. Upon walking in, we saw just one guy in the kitchen and one waitress, with several tables full of people who had no food yet. We had a bad feeling that this was going to be a longer than desired dining experience and debated leaving. We should have done so. It took a while to get drinks, all of which were served in plastic cups. The sangria pitcher arrived, and we had to pour the bottle of wine ourselves - fine, as I assumed there were legal reasons for this. But we got nothing to stir it up with, so the wine just sat there on top. Eventually the waitress came back to get our food order, which took forever to arrive. My chorizo tacos were barely warm. The rice was hot at least? Again, everything was served on paper or plastic. It was sort of like eating at a glorified food truck. The food itself was ok, but generally pretty bland. Chorizo should not be bland, so I am not sure what went wrong there. My husband had a quesadilla, and my friend had mushroom enchiladas. Both said they were average. The rice was really the only thing I can say we enjoyed. Finally, we go to pay the bill, and only then are we told that the place is basically cash only. This isn't posted anywhere. Not on the door. Not on the menu. Not mentioned by the waitress. She then says she can do a credit card if it's an emergency. Well, in our case we didn't have another choice. So she took our credit card and left the restaurant to go run it at another business or something - I don't know.
