Food was fine, but they have a weird payment system. Was charged for a drink I did not order. Won't return.

. I enjoyed a country fried steak, which was surprisingly served with brown and not white gravy - but it was delicious, so I didn't mind a bit

From the moment you walk through the doors, you are greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. It's the kind of place that reminds you of true Southern hospitality, genuine smiles, respectful service, and people who take pride in what they do. The food did not disappoint in any way. Every dish was prepared with care, flavor, and attention to detail. You could taste the freshness and quality in every bite. It's rare to find a place that balances great cooking with consistency, but this establishment managed to deliver both. The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, professional, and made sure every customer felt valued and appreciated. One thing that truly stood out to me was the cleanliness of the establishment. The tables were spotless, the environment was organized, and the overall presentation reflected excellence and pride in ownership. That level of care speaks volumes about the standards they uphold behind the scenes. The only thing that can make it better is if there was one in Huntsville Alabama .

It's cafeteria-style - you grab a tray and choose from the listed options when you walk in. We chose the fried catfish, which is made to order, so it comes out as fresh as possible. The ladies fill your plate as you go through the line, and once you're finished, a gentleman is waiting to take your drink order. The whole process is smooth and welcoming. The catfish was AMAZING - perfectly fresh and full of flavor! What really stood out, though, was the atmosphere. While we were eating, we could hear the staff talking and laughing with each other. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there and eager to help one another. That positive energy made the experience even better. And whatever you do... get the peach cobbler. It is absolutely worth it! 10/10 recommend - we will definitely be back!

They're exactly my style, great smoke flavor, great rub, and while tender they have a bit of a bite to them. Just the way I like it. The Mac and cheese was just like mom makes it, amazing. I got the spicy green beans and they were also tasty. The collards, what can I say, my wife could NOT stop talking about how good the collards greens were they were the first thing gone from her plate. The BBQ sauce was a bit sweet which normally isn't my thing but there is some secret ingredient in there I couldn't put my finger on that made me not be able to resist it. Lastly Michelle is high energy and fun. What a friendly person. Also loved her "Boss Lady" sign, I totally believe it. Great people, great food. If you're ever in town you've gotta swing by. Looking forward to our next trip that way because I really want to try the fried chicken too.

I'm thinking "where" cause this area doesn't look like the part. After riding down the road I started to have my doubts. When I got to the place and walked inside all of my doubts were gone. The smell of fresh burning wood and BBQ smoke made me hungrier than I already was. I was greeted by a very kind-hearted young woman (Part-owner). When I told her how I got there, we both laughed out loud and shared common thoughts on this experience. I ordered the brisket dinner w/Mac&cheese, spicy green beans and corn bread. All I will say is this... When I come back to Cartersville, I will be eating at J's from now on!!!! Man!!!!!!!!

RC had approached her with a flier at a gas station, informing her that his restaurant had just opened up. Anyway, I'm ordering my meal, the same meal I always get each time I go. Fried fish (whiting), collards and the baked beans (unmatched). And he goes, "What would you like to drink?".... I'm like, "What do you have?" (Assuming the usual. Sweet tea. Lemonade... I was probably gonna go with sweet tea. ) He lists sweet tea of course, and then hes like, "Kool-Aid, coke, sprite" - IM LIKE WAIT. DID YOU SAID KOOL-AID?......... He's like, "Yeah??..." Im like, "what flavor???.... "Purple?...." I had never heard of that at a restaurant, and quiet frankly, that's all I needed to know. At this point, I literally go nowhere else for soul food. Also, RC is amazing. Really good guy, and his team offer the best service as well. A job well done, always.

My recommendation would be the baked chicken, cabbage, yams, and sweet potato pie. The ice tea is a must have. Kool aid and coke products are also available. The parking lot is large. So parking won't be a problem. But the inside is small so you will probably want to take the food to go. The menu changes from the week to the weekend with Sunday being soul food day. I will be back to try jerk turkey and meatloaf. Maybe next Sunday.

So I drove past this place a couple of months ago and wanted to check them out. Unfortunately,…read moreevery time I stopped by, they were closed. I then realized that they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. So this past week, the girlfriend and I stopped by on a Thursday night, and what a treat. We didn't realize that Thursdays are line-dancing nights, so if that's your thing, you may want to check them out. I also understand they have live music, karaoke, and spoken word on certain nights. I'll probably go back and check that out as well. Now on to the service and food... we happened to show up in the middle of a line dance session/lesson, and even then, the staff was extremely friendly. Everybody spoke and welcomed us into the establishment. We started with the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. They were pretty good. The girlfriend had Momma Essie's Smothered Pork Chops, Macaroni and Cheese, and Fried Cabbage. I had the Oxtail Dinner, with Fried Cabbage, and Fried Okra (which isn't on the menu, so ask for it). Let's start with this pork chop... LAWD HAB MERCY. That thang was so good and tender. Compliments to the chef. It was seasoned well and cooked so tender that you could cut it with a fork. The cabbage was excellent, and the mac and cheese was just okay. It wasn't bad at all; it just didn't impress my palate. Let me set the stage for the following statement about the oxtails with this... As I've gotten older, my palate has changed significantly... especially when it comes to salt. The oxtails were incredibly tender and seasoned well, but they were a little too salty for me. That said, several dishes I've had lately have been too salty, so I'm thinking it's me, not the food... so please experience them for yourselves. I certainly will go back and experience the rest of the food. I loved the atmosphere and the people. I highly recommend you all check them out, and when you do, tell'em Drew sent ya! Y'all be easy, Drew
