Disrespectful to US Veterans - Johnboy's in Cartersville
    Rose F.

I just got seated when we saw a Veteran come in and ask the korean lady at the register if the restaurant gives a Veteran Discount. The lady was horribly rude, super nasty and severely mean. She was irate and degraded America's Veterans. She even said " we don't care about veterans and their discounts. We don't do that here! This is a restaurant not the government. If you want a Veteran discount go somewhere else. Pay now or get out." - Wow!! The shock was unbearable They get your money as soon as you enter. I hadn't started with getting my food. I asked for a refund after what I witnessed and the waitress said they can't do that. I ended up just leaving. The food was uninteresting and most all the trays we're missing food or empty and you had to wait for them to refill the food so you waste around 20 minutes. That's how long I waited - 20 minutes waiting for the kitchen to bring out food and they brought only one item at a time. Johnboy's Restaurant in Cartersville GA disrespects US American Veterans!! Do not give them the satisfaction of taking your money. Go elsewhere please. The place smells like pee; not clean and food pieces all over the floor. Employee with dreadlocks was smoking outside, came back in and did not wash his hands but started working.

The kind of place I love!!! They don't have places like this North of the Mason Dixon line! Everything was tasty, AND they had Arnold Palmers on the menu, they must be trying cater to us Northerners! The waitress was supercool! The only thing the South has on us is the cuisine, and this place was an example of that. Next time I'm in town for work, I hope I can get past the veggies and have some room for the main dishes. I did save some room for the banana pudding, and,BANG it was the best part of the night!!!!

I will say this is the best country buffet I've ever been to! Everybody are so welcoming as soon as I walk in the door . Maybe that's why the whole thing tasted better. It's a very nice ambiance everybody working so hard to put smile on! Be back for sure

Though the food is good, closing at 8 pm on a Friday or Saturday is absolutely absurd.

Man what a find. Above average experience overall…read more Came in on a Tuesday night around 7:30. Place was busy but not loud at all. Great acoustics. Service was great. Didn't catch his name but he's been there 2-1/2 years he said. Only knock, had to remind him a couple of times to refill my water. They no longer leave carafes of water on the tables as a regular customer complained it was unsanitary. A shame. They should just wash the carafes after each use. Anyway... I ordered a burger with an extra patty. No bun, with cheese, onions and mushrooms as I recall. Here were the two oddities. The meal was served with a single patty and the second patty came out 5 minutes later. Made me think they forgot. Also, the 2 patties were different. One was cooked perfectly and moist. The second was cooked a bit more (but not terribly more) but was dry. The asparagus was fantastic. I do recommend though. Cool spot.

The sunchokes, golden beets, and squash with the salmon were amazing; they melted in your mouth, and the fennel and orange flavors were a nice touch (5/5). The tarragon cream was an excellent sauce; the only reason why I am not giving it a 5 is that the salmon itself was a little plain. The service was good but a little slow (4/5); the guy who brought out our food was really funny! The interior of the restaurant is also pretty nice (4/5). Overall, we are excited to come back and try more items, especially since they have a rotating seasonal menu! I am pretty confident they'll get a 5!

OMG, Cartersville folk listen up!…read more Mike's place has the best sandwich in Cartersville! Walking to Mike's place the first thing that hits you is the smell of the roasting meats in their ovens. The sweet smell of roasting ham and the smell of garlic and spices on the roast beef kicked up my appetite. I ordered a sandwich called the Ferdi. I think it's the best sandwich I ever ate! Served on a soft hoagie roll and stacked with ham, roast beef, shredded cabbage, pickles, a creole mustard and debris. Debris ...You know those little juicy pieces of roast beef at the bottom of the roasting pan... That's "debris" the secrete ingredient in the Ferdi sandwhich that's sets it apart and raises the sandwhich flavor to "over the moon"! Mike Place is a small "hole in the wall" kinda place, one of those hidden jewels. Located at 122 Old Mill Rd. next to the BP gas station in a mostly industrial area. It's worth the time to search this place out. My feeling is that it will be my "go to" place for handcrafted sandwiches.

Mike's Place has all the breakfast essentials, including Louisiana beignets that are topped with powdered sugar, just like the Cafe du Monde. And it just gets better. Burgers and dogs in a variety of fixings, BBQ plates and Po Boys, and a coastal favorite: Shrimp n Grits. They even have hush puppies! Recently I had a craving for a good shrimp bisque. So Chef Mike put on his hat and came up with a half gallon of ecstasy. I had a delicious, authentic shrimp bisque to share with my friends. Mike and Wife Melody, also have special events like a recent crawfish boil on a Friday evening. They offer catering services, and have been know to provide catering in Cartersville for the past 20 years or so. If you want to stop by for breakfast or lunch at unbelievably low prices, you will find Mike's Place tucked away by the BP Station at Old Mill and Erwin Street. You will be glad you did.
