They are kind of the same meat and three buffet type places it's a decent meal, but if you wanna get your moneys worth, I would come for breakfast. I would say they have one of the best breakfast buffets around for a very, very reasonable price. the staff is still friendly, but the selection is too much dimension two different kinds of grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hashbrowns the list goes on and on. I just got seated when we saw a Veteran come in and ask the korean lady at the register if the restaurant gives a Veteran Discount. The lady was horribly rude, super nasty and severely mean. She was irate and degraded America's Veterans. She even said " we don't care about veterans and their discounts. We don't do that here! This is a restaurant not the government. The kind of place I love!!! They don't have places like this North of the Mason Dixon line! Everything was tasty, AND they had Arnold Palmers on the menu,they must be trying cater to us Northerners! The waitress was supercool! The only thing the South has on us is the cuisine, and this place was an example of that. My wife and I have dined at the Marietta location for both lunch and dinner, but they don't offer breakfast at that location. As we happened to need to go over to Cartersville, we decided to try breakfast at the Johnboy's there. While this is a much larger location than Marietta, I unfortunately can't say they have better food. The breakfast was awful - like the kind that would start a prison riot. Watery eggs, tasteless cheese grits, soggy bacon, tiny sausage patties, etc. why would you put iced cinnamon rolls on a steam table? Even their coffee was bad. Oh, and the tables are too close together. During our visit this morning, a very large biker took a table and sat so far away from it that no one could get past him. The servers had also set up a table in the only walking space to use for pitchers of tea and water. The service was decent but unfortunately the food was so bad that neither of us got up for additional food. That says a lot when you go to a buffet and don't go for another plate. Hopefully their lunch and dinner is better. It's really hard to screw up breakfast food, but this Johnboy's has apparently found a way. read more

The food is good, they change out or rotate their menu items daily. The kitchen is on top of keeping the food bar clean and filled all day long. The employees are excellent in keeping you drinks filled and asking if there is anything they can do for you. They do a good job on keeping you safe, they have gloves and hand sanitizer available at the food bar, they require you wear a mask, and have directional markers on the floor. The first sign this was going to be an excellent experience was when I held the door for a multi-generational party of about twenty that was leaving in a clearly upbeat mood. The second sign was seeing the waitress clearing primarily empty plates from the tables. Our dining experience was among the best my wife and I have ever had. Each time we returned from the buffet bars, we enjoyed all of what was selected. If you're looking for excellent, reasonably priced food this should be near the top of your list. If you enjoy traditional Southern food, I wholeheartedly recommend Johnboy's Home Cooking. It is my favorite place to eat, and I really enjoy eating! The price is a bargain, the service is great and it is always staffed with very friendly folks. Often, the owner is on site. Whether I have an evening meal alone, or my wife and I attend after church, there will always be many of our friends in attendance. Relative to other restaurants I give them three stars. However the place is something you have to experience at least once if you live in Woodstock - I would rate it four stars for the value and people watching. It is a buffet with good fried chicken and good chicken fried steak (available on some nights) and a lot of sides. None of the side are great and some are just plain bad but the selection is big and you can try as many as you want until you find something you like. Several typical cobbler dessert selections and banana pudding. The price was just over $10 with a drink making you scratch you head as to how they stay in business. If you are hungry and want the old fashioned buffet experience then give it a try. If nothing else consider it a Woodstock adventure and try it at least once. read more

I used to come here every night to eat. The food was phenomenal. Then they changed cooks in the food is just awful. I waited for 2 months till I went back to see if maybe things got better and they changed cooks and the food was worse last night then it was 2 months ago. I highly do not suggest this place. They have a buffet with a rotating weekly menu that generally is consistent in their offerings - all of which are all tasty and kept fresh. The chaotic atmosphere of the place however is what you might describe as a cross between a high school cafeteria and a buffet at roadside Indian casino. But you cant go many places in an around Cartersville and get a show with your dinner so if you like people watching, this place can't be beat. BE VERY CAREFUL when you buy your meal. The cashier added extra 5 dollars to our bill for a tip. We requested a 2 dollar tip that she hands back to you to leave at the table. The cashier said she was too busy to give us a receipt. I told her I expected a receipt before I leave. Her face dropped and she quit smiling. When we saw what she did I requested a refund so she pulled a 5 from her cash register. I ask for a manager and she said he just left for the day.
