My first review for 2021! First time at Coffee and Plants today and I was so impressed by this adorable Coffee shop! Located in old town Pasadena, near a ton of restaurants and shops within walking distance, I was taken aback there wasn't that many people here today but it was probably due to it being early in the day, because judging by Instagram posts, this coffee shop is definitely a hit. Covid restrictions and social distancing in place (A+) the gentleman outside today (I wish I could remember his name ) was very welcoming, friendly and helpful with drink options once he learned it was me and my son's first time here. He explained everything was plant based, and recommended the 24k charcoal drink, which we both ordered iced and it was delicious! Not too sweet, not too strong, but perfect in every way. I also tried a pastry which (forgive my memory) I think was a poppyseed loaf with orange flavored icing?? Whatever it was, 'twas delicious and I really wanted another slice! Alas, those New Year diet resolutions held me back. My only regret was not purchasing any of Coffee and Plants cute merchandise and taking a picture in front of their adorable wall! I didn't want to hold up the next group of people waiting outside to order their coffee, however this is a new favorite and I will be back!! read more

I've ordered from this coffee shop a few times. Coffee is decent- I've had a latte and matcha latte. The croissants are good although a couple times they were over toasted and very hard to chew. The croissant sandwich that comes with just egg is really good. The restaurant picture image shows that it comes with white vegan cheese but sometimes it comes with yellow cheese ( which I don't like and pick out). Sometimes this sandwich has too much sauce or not enough just egg or pickles. So it's a hit or miss but still enjoyable enough. I recently placed a delivery order and received my croissant sandwich in its usual packaging -a brown box. But this time I got a cute drawing with it. See attached image. At first, I wasn't sure what I was looking at and thought they drew an alien on the box haha but then realized it was Spiderman. I thought it was cute and sweet of them. Since I first went here in the summer of last year I've been here a few times. It's absolutely such a cute spot for coffee lovers and if you're a plant lover this place is even more so for you too. Rose Bowl - I had this iced. It was good, but the dried flowers is the drink was a little weird. I would have this drink again with a straw to avoid from drinking any of it. Charcoal Latte - a curious drink because it's black. Doesn't taste like charcoal though, but more of an earthy taste. Pink matcha - they use beet juice to get the pink color and of course there's matcha in it. Another super pretty to look at drink. Chagachino - caffeine in this is very light with sublet sweetness. Such a cute coffee shop with plants as decor and possibly for sale. There were other plant merch you could purchase (pins, mugs, tshirts, candy bars, etc) around the place. I picked the pistachio latte and my friend got the mushroom coffee that they were featuring that day. It tasted good, but I couldn't taste the pistachio in it so honestly for what it is I would rate it 8/10. The outdoor patio seating is a vibe with the store in the alley. It made you feel like you were in another city. Would make a stop here again if I'm in Pasadena! read more

Everything in this cafe is vegan, from the milk they use to the ingredients used in baking the pastries. The chia seed loaf bread is my favorite. I usually get this one. The last time I got it though it was little dry and the icing on top was cracking. I think it might have been sitting out for a while that is why it must have been a dry. We also got the tomato flat puff. It was flakey and had a good crunch. I wish it had some type of cheese to make it more filling. For drinks I got a oat milk pink matcha, the pink color comes from the syrup they use. I felt the matcha powder they used was good quality, did not think the pink syrup they used was anything fancy. Most likely will not the pink matcha again but will get another plain matcha in the future. PARKING: we parked in the parking structure near by old town Pasadena. The first two hours you only need to pay $1. This structure use to have 90 min free parking before so sad to see it change to this. read more

This place should really be Coffee, Plants + Vibes because baybeee the warmthness as soon as you step inside; incomparable. I'm all about how a place makes me feel from the jump, and I felt very welcomed. From the staff, and the aesthetic all around you kind of have to focus lol. They have a pretty expansive menu of both coffee, tea and pastries. I got the superfood latte, it was delishh and yummy which was a recommendation from the cashier (kudos to her!). I saw some reviews saying it was pricey, but lattes have been around $8 for awhile if you're not going to starbeez (thank you inflation). What I also loved, is their give back component whether you buy a pin or sticker they donate those proceeds to Hopefield Animal Sanctuary and they pledge to plant 1 tree for every 100 cups sold. This little coffee shop is adorable. I love the decor, from the bike out front with the flowers adorning the doorway, the cute outdoor seating, to the ultra pink interior. Ordered a cold brew coffee, the 24k charcoal latte, a chocolate croissant, and the mushroom provolone pastry. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that everything was plant based- even the provolone was not real cheese! I loved my latte- not too sweet and a nice hint of charcoal- and the mushroom provolone was delicious- hearty but not too heavy. Cold brew well done as well. The chocolate croissant didn't have the flakiness that I usually expect, that was probably my least favorite of the bunch. However, until COVID-19 is under control, I don't think I will be returning. The female barista was great, but the male that was working today - though he was very nice!- kept taking his mask off and it made us feel uncomfortable :/ Too bad because I did enjoy my experience here overall! read more

We stumbled upon this cute little cafe when visiting IPIC across. We had some time to spare and the teddy bears looked so cute so we decided to give it a try. We didnt know but apparently it is an all vegan cafe, at least that is what the girl who worked behind the counter said when we ordered our drinks. I got a vanilla matcha and my friend got a pink matcha, which we thought was strawberry but it was actually a rose matcha. They put flowers on the drink which is super cute. We took a bunch of pictures because the whole place is so cute and there is a big teddy bear in the corner. My drink was delicious, not too sweet and very creamy. I always get my drinks iced but got it hot because it was raining. The girl who helped us was super sweet and let us take all the pictures we wanted. Next time I want to try their superfood latte which is apparently their signature one! read more

They serve coffee and pastries with all things plant based here...oat milk or almond milk would be your choices to add in your coffee drinks. It's a small little shop located in an alley way. It's hidden, which I like so foot traffic is at a mimimum (esp with this whole COVID social distancing rule we got going on). My sis and I were here on Sunday around 11:30a and we were the only party seating outside and a party of two were seated inside. There's only about four tables indoor (probably less now with half capacity seating) and two outside. I suggest parking at the DeLacey parking garage (90 minutes free with no validation needed) and it's a quick 5 minute walk. We ordered an iced lavender latte w/almond milk, the 24k gold charcoal iced latte with oat milk and an almond cherry pastry. Originally, we wanted to try their blue lavender latte. It looks and sounds delicious!!! Since there's no caffeine, we wanted to make the drink "dirty". However, the barista told us adding espresso shot in there would alter the taste and it's not recommended to be blended together. What a bummer. So just an FYI on that. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The iced charcoal latte taste better than it sounds/looks. Personally to me, there wasn't any off-taste. Literally tasted like a latte with oat milk. read more

I am in love with this place!!! It is super cute, and it is exactly what it is called: coffee and plants! Their drinks are beautifully made and their vegan croissants are absolutely AMAZING. I've tried the plain, chocolate, tomato mozzarella, and the mushroom croissants. All of them are PERFECT!! For drinks, me and my friend ordered their summer pink matcha and the charcoal latte. I got the pink matcha and it was really yummy without being too sweet. I didn't taste the charcoal latte, but it looks very visually pleasing. The workers here are super nice and the outdoor seating area is so cute! Instagram worthy forsure! A man who seems like the owner or manager comes around to check in on customers. He's really nice and welcoming! The workers also all wear masks, and they do not offer indoor seating. There are no restrooms, but there are public restrooms right around the corner by the Sage restaurant. I will most definitely be back. My new favorite coffee cafe! This place is very aesthetic and the drinks are delicious as well. I'm sure the flower walls and plants are what attracts people to the cafe but the drinks are what make people stay. I ordered their blue lavender latte and before you make the same mistake I did, beware that this drink does not have coffee in it. However, I did really enjoy this drink. The lavender flavor is not overwhelming which was something I was skeptical about seeing as that most floral drinks have a strong floral flavor. My friend ordered a cold brew with lavender syrup and she loved it as well. One thing I do want to point out is that it seems they only have oat milk and almond milk. I didn't ask if they had any dairy options for milk, but these were the two options I was given when ordering. read more

HARDLY taste the lavender it tasted more like Oat milk. This quickly became one of my favorite local coffeeshops! They're one of the few coffeeshops that carry chagaccinos, which I became a fan of after having on in Hermosa Beach one day. Their regular cappuccinos are also great quality, have a deep rich flavor, and are delicious. Really unique and cool concept of being 100% plant-based, in a world where plant based options are a secondary thought - and often times only give 1-2 food options. And appreciate the outdoor seating they have in the alleyway, especially in these times of COVID. I will say not a place to do deep work but it's so beautiful a great place to take a break or meet somebody for a meeting. The tables are a bit small but the outside tables are larger and can potentially do writing or reading. Not many outlets. My friend and I were exploring Pasadena and I wanted coffee. We walked from another restaurant to Coffee and Plants. It's a small coffee shop, very chic. Beautiful decor inside and out. We asked the server what was popular and we got the rose bowl latte and a blue lavender latte. Both were pretty good. The best thing about what we got was the orange poppy seed bread. This coffee boutique is a jewel offering everything from incredible iced coffee to pastries that taste like they were made by Santa's little helpers. The location is a great vibe, the decor is brilliant, and they even sell small plants you can use for your work/home office desk. The first time I visited this place I got an iced 24Kt gold charcoal latte w/oat milk accompanied by the last raspberry muffin (they sell out daily). I sat outside in the nice patio area where I took the first sip. Unfortunately it was so good that I downed the entire drink in about a minute, so I ordered another one because I needed something to chase my raspberry muffin, and water is boring. The muffin looked spectacular! So spectacular I forgot to take a photo of it, and it was nothing short of delicious. Although I had the caffeine jitters for the next hour that second round of 24kt gold was worth it and the experience was epic. I can say that if you're driving this isn't a place to pull up and go unless your passenger is running in while your hazards are blinking, so you'll need to park nearby and walk (like most of downtown Pasadena). This is the perfect place for a day date, meeting, or want to impress a few friends with a cute coffee treat pit stop. Highly recommended. Go. read more

I like the vibe and drinks here - there aren't too many good matcha places around old town, so I'm really glad it's here! I usually get the Pink Matcha, which is delicious. It's a decent place to work/study - there are comfy chairs and even outlets for your laptop. Only downside is no wifi, which I feel is odd for a cafe in 2022. I have to use my phone hotspot as needed, which runs my battery down. Staff is helpful and nice - although have to mention that most recently, one of their cashiers was coughing NONSTOP (and without a mask) - which made me feel really uncomfortable so I had to leave. read more

Honestly, I might have been too excited for this place that it fell short for me. Don't get me wrong, the staff was amazing, 10/10 very friendly and accommodating. But the rating I give is based on the food and drinks itself. The rose latte didn't really taste like rose. I just smell a hint of it when I take a sip but it's mostly from the dried rose petals scattered on top of it. The latte itself just tastes like ordinary latte, no rose flavor or scent at all. That is kind of disappointing. The JustEgg Tartine was alright. It didn't really stand out, like the egg is okay, they had like a coconut garlic chip thing on top but it was rather odd mix. The hot sauce was minimal. The only thing that was stood out to me was the bread, which I guess is a key component, but the eggs was just there. The Smashed Avocado Tartine was actually the best one. It's fresh, delicious with a citrusy taste, the tomatoes and pickled onions added a sweetness to it. Parking is super challenging. There is public parking nearby but it's quite pricey. If you get lucky, you might be able to get street parking but it's going to take some luck if you're going during rush hours. read more

Each time I visit the staff is friendly and make me feel welcomed. We were walking around Old Town on a Sunday afternoon when we decided to sit by iPic theaters at a bench near the alley. We saw a sign for this new coffee shop and they had plants, and they were inclusive with dogs - all of our favorite things it's like this cafe was made for us. AC, the owner, saw us sitting with our dog outside and invited us inside. It wasn't too busy as it seems to have just opened a few weekends ago. When we walked in, everything was so cute and well decorated like an Instagram-ready coffee shop with a green wall and adorable tables and floral arrangements. We ordered a pretty latte and Okami, our Japanese Akita, took an instant liking to all the attention he was getting from all the patrons inside. It was a nice, cool sunny daddy so we opted to sit in one of their outdoor settings next to a super cute bicycle that's perfect for a photo opportunity. read more

Maybe went on an off day...but we visited around Saturday quarter to 9am. Entered the coffee shop & the barista saw us enter but he didn't acknowledge us or let us know he'll be right there. So we waited around a good 3-5mins for him to pop out again and assist us. I'm okay with waiting but a simple "ill be right with you" would make a difference so we know we're not being ignored. When he came out, tone was very unenthusiastic and low I couldn't even hear what he was saying. Would've appreciated if we didn't feel like a burden esp it was only us in the shop. It just started the vibe really off. Two other customers came in but his approach to them was more welcoming so Idk...but trying to be understanding if he wasn't having a great start of his day. We came up to Pasadena for a dinner party and I've been craving cookies for the longest time. I did a chocolate chip cookie search and never expected to find this cute place! They have cookies, pastries, coffees, teas and plants! We came around 3 p.m. on a Saturday and it wasn't that crowded at all. The five tables inside were all taken and one of the outside tables were taken but there was no one in line. The person who helped us was the nice fellow! I ordered a blue lavender latte, rose bowl latte and a chocolate croissant. He suggested I get oat milk instead so it will be foamier and I am so glad I listened to him! I was super bummed they had no chocolate chip cookies but quickly got over it lol. The drinks were so delicious. The croissant was ok, we asked for it to be heated up but when we got it, it was cold. The chocolate was fudge-like and overall a solid croissant. The total was about $19 and it was worth every penny! There was a little mishap when he brought out two blue lavender lattes but he was so nice about it. I told him I was fine keeping the two and that it was okay but he apologized for mishearing and said he will take care of it. A couple minutes later he brought out the rose bowl latte. And boy, was he considerate! He checked on us probably four or five times the hour we were there. It was such great service! The place is super cute with a cute bike outside, an awesome floral wall near the entrance, pretty cacti and tshirts for sale. This place like my boyfriend said is a "totally Instagramable" spot. I immediately told my boyfriends' friend at the dinner party that they should go! Parking wasn't bad at all. We parked in a nearby structure and walked here. The structure is free the first 90 minutes and $2 for each additional hour. The place is hard to find and they have signs that direct you in. It is next to the iPic theatres. If you like actual milk in your coffee, don't set foot here. While this places has great asthetic(and an awesome name/logo), I just don't know how you can be a full service coffee shop without offering dairy milk as an option. A latte or cappuccino without that creamy addition just isn't the same. Even knowing this, I still thought I would give it a try, and ordered a latte. Upon my first sip, I was instantly disappointed with the plant milk flavor that soured my latte. Nothing against people who like plant milk, or who are vegetarian/lactose intolerant, but I just don't understand why regular milk can't even be an option. The cutest coffee and plant shop I've been to in a while and it's SO dog friendly with seating inside and out that you can enjoy with your fur baby! There's also a water bowl for your dog and outlets under the bench if you need to recharge your phone after taking so many instagrammable photos! We ordered their specialty coffee which was yummy! Coffee + mushrooms and cinnamon, oat milk and more to make this a well rounded caffeine boost! $6 for this cup. Service here is super friendly. It's also an IG worthy cafe! *PARKING* There's street parking and also a parking structure across the street. I parked at the parking structure - the cafe does not validate for parking! *DRINKS/FOOD* I ordered the hot blue lavender latte and rosebowl latte as well as a chocolate croissant. I personally like the lavender latte more than the rosebowl latte - the lavender latte had great flavor while the rosebowl latte was too bland for me. I did like the fact that they offered oatmilk and the drinks were not too sweet. One star was taken off because the drinks were a bit on the pricier side (the lavender latte was worth it but not the rosebowl latte and they were the same price). There also weren't that many food items and the chocolate croissant was okay. *SEATING* The indoor seating area is a bit small but it's really cute! This business alone makes me wanna drive the whole way to Pasadena. I absolutely love this establishment. Their chagacino is delicious. I'm usually a black cold brew or simple latte type of gal, but when you walk in, it is impossible to not want to try one of their interesting concoctions. They have many different types of lattes that you can get hot or iced. Non dairy options for milk, although I wish they had coconut milk. The vibe of the place is unmatched. The staff is friendly and super efficient. I barely waited at all for my drink. They have a cute wall for pictures inside and their storefront is also very aesthetically pleasing. I love trying out different coffee shops everywhere I go. Came across this one while walking around Old Town Pasadena. ( then I realized that I had it saved in my bookmarks for a while now) . It's such a pretty place that you can't pass by it without peeking in. Absolutely loved the decor and all the beautiful flowers everywhere. They even sell fresh flowers and potted plants. How cute is that. Let's talk about the coffee now. I wasn't crazy about the taste of the 24k Charcoal Latte or the Rose Bowl Latte. I couldn't even taste the expresso in it. Maybe the barista didn't make it well or that's how it's suppose to taste. I'm not sure. Most likely I will try this place out again and see if it's any better.
