My coworker and I decided to check out My Vegan after work and were excited to try a vegan Thai restaurant. We arrived around 2 p.m., after the lunch rush, and were seated immediately. We were greeted with warm smiles, which made us feel welcome right away. The restaurant itself is small, cozy, and comfortable--perfect for a relaxed meal. We ordered the Tom Yum Tofu Soup, Papaya Salad, Pad See Ew with fried tofu, and Thai tea. The food was surprisingly flavorful and absolutely delicious! The Papaya Salad was fresh with a nice balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors, while the Pad See Ew was packed with flavor and had perfectly cooked noodles. The fried tofu was a great addition and complemented the dish well. The Tom Yum Tofu Soup was comforting and aromatic, and the Thai tea was a refreshing way to round out the meal. Haven't been here in YEARS. And I think I know the reason why I stopped coming... Dropped by to grab some dinner and grabbed 3 items: their orange chicken, tom yum noodle soup, and their pad thai. OOOF their dishes were like an average of $18 each?? After we got the food we waited outside and it's a shared parking lot with other businesses and I saw a rat literally ran across in front of me the minute I stepped out the door! The worker came by and shut the door all the way so it didn't come in but it surprised me! Can't fault them because this is outside in the public parking lot and the lot is small and smelled pretty gross, like old trash. Not sure I want to smell that before getting my food so we opted to go wait in our car. Once it got closer to time we went in to get our food and came home to eat. They're a Thai restaurant, I hear the staff talking in Thai so I HAVE to assume that the Thai food we got would be good right?? Their Tom Yum noodle soup is YUMMY. So flavorful and enjoyable! It was our favorite! But the orange chicken.. kinda bland.. and same goes for the pad thai :( Portion size not bad but still price is steep for the quality of food they provide. First time trying this restaurant. I ordered satay chicken, pad thai, and green curry. These orders came in with big portions. The chicken was really chewy and tasted like real chicken. However, I found it a little under-flavored. I was hoping there would be more lemongrass and a smoky smell, just like other typical skewers. Pad Thai was on point. I love the sweetness and sourness that came in the sauce. In addition, I love how they have the combo on the menu, which gives me a chance to try different items on the same plate. The Green curry combo came with egg rolls, salad, and brown rice. The egg rolls were crunchy on the outside, but I found them a bit raw and cold on the inside, and it wasn't a problem for me. I didn't taste much of coconut milk flavor in the curry, which made it not as creamy as expected. Overall, it was a really nice experience, and I'd come back to try again. read more

The restaurant is in a shopping center and we were able to grab parking right in front. We visited on a Friday evening with two kids and two adults and we were seated right away. It's cozy inside with a few tables for smaller and mid sized groups. I noticed the most traffic was from take out orders. They offer a pretty big menu so it's easily something for everyone. The portion sizes are shareable and you can have a family style meal. We ordered the tofu pad Thai, Supreme rice, Orange chicken, Chicken nuggets, Chicken tacos and a side of French fries. We also tried the Thai tea. Everything tasted great. The pad Thai and supreme rice was everyone's favorite. We'll be back to try more from the menu soon. read more

Lady was rude on the phone when I was asking questions about the sugar intake and how much or what kind they use. Saying she can't understand me when I was speaking clear and I don't know if it was a language barrier then but she was not trying to understand. Thai food is amazing but if you ask questions and they get upset. Then, there is no point in eating the food. Energy matters. Also, she said put me on hold and then put the calls to voicemail after she was trying to get someone else to help me. Being gluten free is one thing but customer service is so important. I came to My Vegan in Pasadena for dinner with a friend. They have a decent sized menu, it was hard to choose. I decided on their special where you can pick an entree, side of rice, salad and an egg roll for $18. I got yellow curry amd my friend got cashew "chicken" with tofu. We also got dumplings for an appetizer. All the food came out really fast, a little too fast. I'm not sure if they have it pre made and heat it up upon ordering, or if it's made to order. The food was good, but not amazing. For the price though it was a deal and definitely somewhere to stop when hungry and don't want to spend too much. I also liked that they gave a homeless woman water when she came in and asked. That was really kind and refreshing to see. I will be back. There is no restroom though or at least it didn't look like there was a restroom. I want to try their mango sticky rice next time. read more

Overall, just average. The papaya salad was decent and abundant in portion size, BUT tomatoes were really mushy . I would have preferred for it to have some kind of spice that lacked too. The drumsticks were the main item I visited for and they were good; however, they were on dowels vs. sugar cane... just a different vibe, not a deal breaker. Two issues with my visit here: 1. asked for a sweet chili sauce, but it has no chili in it, just a sugary sauce AND when I got my bill I was charged extra for the sauce but no mention of this when I ordered it. I have no issue paying for extra sauces 1. If the sauce is worth a hoot and 2. Awareness that I'm paying for it. Prices are a little high for the quality of food. The parking lot is a little undersized for the amount of businesses in the little strip mall area. One MAJOR complaint and issue 2. They claim the restroom is out of order (which I saw on previous reviewers posts, which was over 1 month ago)... idk how a business can operate without a restroom for customers. I get emergency situations, but how have they gone this long without a working restroom for customers? To make this situation even worse, it doesn't appear they have any neighboring businesses to partner with on this issue because if you need the restroom they tell you to go across the street to Trader Joe's. Next time I'm in the area, I'll just grab something from TJ's to eat and not worry about dining at My Vegan. read more

It's pretty small inside. Several tables along each wall and a few in the middle. We ordered the orange chicken, P.E.T. and RIPP. The food came out decently quickly. First impression was that the portion sizes were small for the price (~$18 each). The orange chicken was not what I expected. I wouldn't get this again. It was mushy and soft, not the crunchy breading I hoped for. The sauce is quite citrus-heavy. The PET was solid. I was hoping for more pumpkin and tofu but overall good. The RIPP was the best dish in terms of the entree itself. Tangy flavor, great mock meat texture. The steamed vegetables had no flavor and the carrots were basically raw. The cabbage slaw was pretty good but a bit watery toward the bottom. Overall, it was okay. I wasn't blown away by any flavors. It's a bit overpriced for what it was. Nothing was notably memorable. My partner and I were able to finish everything (he does eat a lot though). I wouldn't necessarily come out of my way to eat here again but I wouldn't say no either if someone asked. Dropped by and got the Vegan Pho Basil ($15.50). Even though this is a Thai restaurant, the pho was pretty comparable to what you can get at a vegan Vietnamese restaurant. To me, all vegan pho tastes the same (the salty veggie broth taste), and this is exactly what this one felt like. The portion sizes were satisfactory. They will give you sriracha and hoisin sauce if you ask. The restroom is a single-stall inside the kitchen, so you have to ask to be escorted. It's written on the menu that any food returned will only give you 50% back. Seems pretty atypical and I can see how that might offend some customers. read more

I ordered this for pickup, it went smoothly and they had my order ready under 10 minutes. I ordered the mung bean noodle salad and the mushroom coconut soup with tofu. I would highly recommend the mushroom coconut soup. The salad's flavor was amazing, perfectly sour and umami, but they had large chunks of green onion (a lot of stem), which cannot be eaten without my eyes watering. I was looking for a vegetarian food option for my mom and decided to give My Vegan a try. At first, I tried to call and place a takeout order. However, they did not pick up, so I went and ordered in person. The staff was very helpful in answering all of my questions about what's in their dishes. After ordering, it was mentioned everything would be ready within 15 minutes. There were not a lot of people at the time, so there were plenty of seats for me to sit and wait. I was actually surprised to see that everything was actually ready within 5 minutes. In total, I got three dishes - Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and egg rolls. For both the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew, I added tofu for the order. For the egg rolls, it looks like it was made with carrot and lettuce. My mom absolutely loves all the dishes. Mainly Thai flavors! We had the RIPP(pork ribs like tofu), served with veggies of the day and coleslaw and Angry Pork, stir fried tofu pork like with string beans and broccoli served with brown rice. It said spicy but there wasn't much of a kick at all. Other dishes looked interesting so need to go back and try to see if they are resemble the meat counter parts! I hadn't gone here in awhile and remember I had a 3 star- impression but after trying it again, I am pleasantly surprised and happy that My Vegan has locations in this area. The environment is pleasant and clean. The parking lot can get crowded, but I haven't had trouble finding a space. The staff is also really friendly. There are a lot of delicious options and the food tastes fresh and healthy. It is a fusion restaurant and seems more Thai-focused. A lot of the food comes with tofu already but if you want to change to vege shrimp or chicken it's an extra charge. I think it tastes pretty good with tofu already! I really liked their spicy ramen which was very flavorful and rich. It also already came with bamboo shoots and eggplant. read more

However, I enjoyed this one as they don't add sugar to everything and have more of a fresh veggie forward approach on their offerings. My family is always on the look out for good vegetarian places in the area. We are not vegetarian, per se, but once in a while we like to go out to get vegetarian food. I did some research and found this nice Thai vegetarian restaurant in Pasadena, so I had to come give it a try. I came here with my wife for dinner. It seemed like their main specialties were Thai food. I also noticed that on their Instagram, their pineapple fried rice looked really good. So I got the pineapple fried rice with soy chicken. My wife got the Kee Mao with tofu. The Kee Mao tastes like any other Thai restaurant's drunken noodles despite being vegetarian. It was amazing, and also too spicy for me, as expected from Thai restaurants. The noodles were fresh and flavorful. I had the pineapple fried rice. My Vegan serves rice dishes with brown rice. I wish they had white rice, but the brown rice was still amazing. There was a strong curry flavor. It was not quite a curry on rice, but it was not as dry as a lot of fried rice dishes tend to be. It was the perfect level of moisture for me. I got the dish with soy chicken. The soy chicken and pineapples added the texture notes that I was desiring. Amazing vegetarian restaurant.
