I tried this place out yesterday with a friend and her little girl and we ALL loved the food. It's a small quaint, coffee and lunch shop that has both inside and outside seating. Brady helped us out and took our order plus delivered it to our table. Ms. Shelly prepares the delicious sandwiches. I had a grilled chicken wrap and it was very tasty plus I love how they used whole wheat wrap. My friend ordered the BLT (made to her specifications) and it was delicious. Her little girl had a very well made peanut butter and jelly sandwich which she could not finish (but I was later told that she ate it all up when she got home). The homemade brownie we all shared was wonderful and had a helping of peanut butter in the middle which made it even more scrumptious. Brady was preparing the coffee and they have a LOT of different flavors, blends, types...hot or iced. Had it not been for the lateness of the day (and my NOT wanting to stay up all night) I would've tried one of the flavors and some just came in for their coffee. But the lunch WAS excellent with a wide variety included Salad options for vegans. I'd highly recommend this place and it's worth the drive (I live an hour away). Since they're open on Sundays, it'd make a great place for after church meetings and a light lunch. I saw some people from a nearby church there, as a matter of fact. After visiting this charming "extremely small" town I realize why locals really pronounce the "NO" in MicaNOpy. The customer service by the female behind the counter was similar to that of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld. Unfortunately the coffee and food is mediocre at best but with practically NO where else or nothing to do in famous MicaNOpy it's not surprising why there isn't an increase of returning visitors from crowded nearby Gainesville. We have been here before but came by again. The waitresses were kinda wearing mask, sometimes yes and sometimes not. We had the Aunt Sherrys Chicken Salad wrap (8.95) and croissant (8.95) along with some banana pudding (3.75). The sandwiches were great and the service was great. I did watch the older waitress lick a utensil before putting in the sink. I was a bit weirded out by it. I know they have an open kitchen but it was still not appetizing to watch. read more

The town was suffering the power going out, intermittently due to a tornado that had passed thru the area,early that morning ! Savanna must have been a Chief PO in the Navy, in her short years ! She was racing around, resetting cash registers and checking the breaker box,next door and selling me and Sherry banana bread and chili, serving coffee !...power out again, re set the computer again, what a great crew !.....small town crew !...city crew would called "sick leave" and went ! I got the tuna salad sandwich. It was delicious and big. I ate half there and took the other half home for dinner. My daughter got the kids chicken tenders...they were gross!!! McDonald's does better chicken tenders. They obviously just get the cheapest chicken tenders they can find. At first I didn't believe my daughter that they were as bad as she said they were but then I tried one and it was like eating a greasy sponge. If they could get their kids meals anywhere close to the quality of their regular meals it would have been a five star. A cool lil' spot in the antebellum South. Old Floridian style buildings, Spanish moss and mistletoe, magnolia trees. I could almost picture the ghostly images of Confederate soldiers trudging through the mist and eerie silence. In the actual town of Micanopy there are two restaurants that you should check out. The first is Coffee N Cream. Coffee N Cream is located on one half of odd looking building on Cholokka Blvd. The inside dining area is slightly small but the food and the friendly atmosphere totally makes up for it. The food is fantastic. The chicken salad is divine. Try it as part of the stuff tomato lunch or as a salad on its own. The Nathan's Hot Dogs are also really good, if not necessarily local. Once you're done shopping go back and get some delicious ice cream and sit on the porch and listen to the music that is being played by some of the locals. I've been here on Christmas Eve as the tourists cleared out. The locals really came out and played some beautiful music while we sat on the porch swing. Today I had the soup and sandwich special and it was very fresh and delicious. The staff here is as friendly and nice as the food is delicious. They also have a cozy front porch/patio where you can take in all the local scenery while you eat/relax I would also like to tell folks that this shop is not that far off the beaten trail. Great experience, from first walking thru the door getting a friendly, welcoming greeting, sitting outside & enjoying the best chicken salad I've had in ages & taking in the atmosphere of the most charming town I've had the pleasure of finding. I initially came to meet the resident kitty that I'd heard about, but he was nowhere to be found on the day I was there.
