This is a place for a... er...certain type of man to hang out with their buddies. The 'regulars' here will think nothing of parking their cars over entire crosswalks - out in front, or across the street - not caring one iota that they are blocking access and endangering pedestrians, the elderly, etc. ...and also preventing other drivers from seeing around the corner, while trying to make a turn. These are likely the very same types who complained about the bike lane that is going in along nearby 31st Street, suggesting that the bike lane would 'create dangers' for pedestrians and cyclists. Meanwhile, they themselves create dangers for pedestrians and cyclists, all the time. This place is a small neighborhood hang-out spot. As such, there's simply no way the owners don't know that their regulars are endangering local pedestrians. read more

Drank and went here today for breakfast on a really cold Monday morning to begin and start my first day as a temporary substitute paraprofessional at P.S. 234 Q that I had gotten hot chocolate. I've been deciding on coming here for a while now after seeing people in long lines sometimes for coffee here. I finally came this weekend and it did not disappoint! I got the greek fredo and asked for slightly less sweet and have to say it was exactly how I wanted it. It's flavorful and strong with the espresso flavor coming out strong and the foam at top is just enough milk I would want. I don't think a lot of the chains can beat this place when it comes to the foam - it's not heavy as you would expect. I will probably come here often in my way to the park now. read more

Exceptional and high quality that you wouldn't expect from a place like this. I was sad and brought two more people to try it and so he made it. Thank you so much for making it so my friends can try it since we drove more than 30 mins to get it. Amazing sandwich that hit the spot. The BLT came with the obvious bacon, lettuce, tomato. Plus cheddar cheese and a fried egg (which I swapped out for a runny over easy egg). It was huge! Went in for a tuna wrap with spinach, cucumber and onion. Guy said they don't have cucumber, only pickles. I opted to replace the cucumber with tomato. Everything seemed fine until I got to the register. The girl looked at the wrap, cut into half and placed in a plastic box, and laughed. I don't speak Spanish but they had a side conversation before she handed it to me in a brown bag. She said, oh looks really good. I got home, opened the box and was immediately disgusted. The tuna wrap was soaked through, in a puddle of water and they included pickles after all. Clearly both the cashier and cook knew they were selling me something I wouldn't want and didn't ask for. I've never been here before so maybe it's great for coffee and a prepackaged muffin but please do not come here and order food to be made. Down the block is an awesome bagel spot that also does sandwiches, wraps, etc. as an alternative. read more

There is a sign requiring masks and yet the cashier wears hers around her chin and they have zero interest in either enforcing the rule or supporting customers who respect it. the coffee pot in astoria is a semi hidden gem where i can get a ice cappuccino, egg whites on a whole wheat bagel and a toasted blueberry muffin with a 20 oz diet pepsi all for under 20 bucks . my cuz told me about this place and glad he did cause the beverages are excellent as my ice cappy was cold and sweet that gave me a brain freeze which slowly went away when i shoved my egg whites on a bagel in my trap bit by bit. from coffee, sandwiches , sweets , wraps , patties , candies , ice cream , etc, this place is a great way to start your morning in astoria. read more

This place is pretty inconspicuous and most people would probably walk by it without a second thought, but the woman there served me the best iced espresso/freddo I've had outside of Greece. She handed it to me along with a tiny wrapped piece of dark chocolate, which was a really nice touch. I went back a second time and a man made my coffee. No chocolate this time and it wasn't quite as good, but it was still good. Freddo cappuccinos and espressos haven't really caught on here in the states yet for some reason, so it's worth a stop just for that. read more

Specialty coffees are delicious. I usually get a large coffee and a parfait. They make their parfaits on the premise with a combination of vanilla and strawberry yogurt with fresh strawberries and blueberries topped with granola. It's so good. like another reviewer said, the guy at the register which i assume is also the owner is very unfriendly. all he looks is to grab your money and seems annoyed all the time. NEVER not once has he given me a coffee on the house but i have seen it done towards other patrons. Been going there every morning for coffee and yet he (and his wife) play favoritism in who they treat. The ppl behind the counter making the coffees are really nice especially the young blonde girl. SUPER nice and friendly. The only reason i keep going back is Coffees are strong and wake me up. Their egg sandwiches i do not recommend. VERY stale bread and too thick of a sandwich...........also served cold. Also ridiculously expensive....a regular coffee shouldn't cost onwards of $3. They also do not deliver. It's safe to say that my roommate Adria B. and I have fast become regulars here. And how could we not, when it's directly in our morning path to the train station? I'm usually in high bleary bitch mode and barely able to place an order. Yet, somehow the angels behind the counter understand that I need a coffee with an extra shot of espresso, light on the sugar and cream. It's delicious and my main motivation in getting up each morning. (Can you tell I'm not a morning person?) They serve Segafredo Zanetti coffee - a delicious Italian coffee that's not exactly the norm around here. I have to point out something that I love here. When I order iced coffee with sugar, they do this amazing, simple thing - they put the sugar in first, then add a small amount of hot coffee to MELT THE SUGAR before they fill it up with iced coffee. It's so intuitive and simple that I wonder why they can't do that everywhere. It peeves me when I get an iced coffee or iced tea at Dunkin and I can clearly see the white layer of sugar at the bottom. So annoying! Another perk - they take credit cards with no minimum. I'm terrible at carrying around cash so I love these small shops where I don't have to feel pressured/guilty when I pay for my $2 coffee with a card. The best perk of all - the people are so nice and friendly that even though I know I should be saving money and not buying coffee so often, I don't feel so bad knowing that I'm giving them some business. They found out we're in school (though, I suspect they're thinking high school and not grad school...) and now they smile and wish us a good day at school. Adria once went there all stressed out before our final and the kind man proceeded to give her some wisdom on how tests and grades don't really matter and life is more about people and relationships.
