The only reason I still go here is, because it's close to my work and there is a lot of rain in Vancouver - so sometimes I don't feel like going far. The drinks are overpriced. Food is overpriced (4,90$ for a almond croissant - come on!). The waitresses never sparkle and always seem extremely unsatisfied with their jobs. Way better options near by. read more

A nice coffee shop, great location in the Gas town of Vancouver. We stopped by for a cappuccino and hot chocolate. The service was very good, the coffee shop is also very modern inside, they also have beautiful latte arts on their drinks, the quality of drinks were also good. What I found odd was they were putting cinnamon on top of the hot chocolate which probably was not the best idea, but overall a positive experience, so check in out if you are in Gas Town and you are looking for a place with a nice view of the street, but not necessarily the best coffees. read more

First time here. Space is attractive with nice sandwiches, wraps and baked goods. I didn't have one. I ordered a large Americano with almond milk as they don't carry coconut milk :( I was shocked when the price was $6.50 for a size large ( only 2 sizes, regular & large). I thought Starbucks was expensive at $4.00 but this is ridiculous. When I asked why it was so much more expensive than Starbucks the employee answered "we have superior beans & equipment". Hmmmmm, after tasting it I don't find a difference that warrants the cost. Coffee taste preferences are different for everyone. I will say it was served exceedingly hot which I do like. Won't be coming back for a nearly $7.00 cup of joe. read more

Horrible coffee beans to say the least. Bathroom is so dirty, stuffy, and smells. Upon asking them to clean it so nicely (with 3 workers and only 1 other customer in the store) they said they'd get to it later in the day. Lastly a simple espresso took a ridiculously long amount of time, and considering I was the only customer, it's even crazier. Definitely don't stop here!! Nothing really against those two but... let's be honest, if you like a good cup of coffee, there are far better options. One of those options is the Coffee Bar in Gastown. They serve 49th Parallel coffee and it is fairly evident upon first sip that it is a notch above the norm. Gastown is already a hip area but the space here is half the appeal. Lots of windows and natural light. The ambience in this place is one that is cool and high end. It doesn't have the character that a Matchstick Coffee would have but the coffee is great in its own right. A great place to stop by if you're in Gastown and in search for a good cup of brew. read more

Very rude service. We ordered three hot chocolate drinks. They were not hot at all. When asked to make them hotter, the barista said next time you should ask for extra hot...with attitude. Its "hot" chocolate for a reason and it was our first time there, how would we know to order extra hot when hot chocolate should be hot! Then they just put it in a microwave instead of making a new one. We wanted a refund, they refused. After long arguments, they finally made us new ones -- still not hot! Very very unpleasant experience I ever had in any cafe in Vancouver :( read more

Never again. I work in the DTES and decided to treat myself to a lunch out. I asked what was in the sandwich I ordered and was told eggs and potato. It came cold on the inside and hot outside. It was stuffed with cold salsa and was truly disgusting. I wouldn't have served it to anyone. I told the staff who told me hard luck and were rude. The coffee is merely adequate but the pastries are ridiculously over priced. My almond croissant came to nearly $5. Yes, almost FIVE DOLLARS and it tasted like nothing. The sliced almond topping was kind of soft, not crispy like the much better almond croissants I've had elsewhere. And I've had better quality croissant dough (for flavour and flakiness) out of a frozen package. This is the same coffee shop I came to several months back on a rainy afternoon for a quiet cup of tea and was charged somewhere in the $4 range for a cuppa. Serves me right for ordering tea in a place called Coffeebar I suppose. Overall I'm not impressed and I've been several times now. However, today was my last time as there is so much better in the neighbourhood. read more

This place is over priced. I requested an extra paper cup for a prop since we were filming outside their shop. The manager said it cost 5 cents. I didn't have any change, only $5. When she gave me my change back, she had charged me 50 cents for the cup. When I told her she said it was only 5 cents she told me she said 55 cents. Either she lied or can not do math, since I should have had $4.45 back if that were the case. Not a very nice manager. I will never come back. read more

Utterly dissatisfied with the service. I Ordered two eclairs at the gastown location. The eclairs were so stale and tasted as though they had been sitting out for two weeks. We also bought a cookie that tasted like baking powder. After one bite, I went to the counter to ask for a refund on the 4$ eclairs, the "manager" named Heather Yo told me that she could not give me a refund or exchange the eclairs for another product, even when I left the eclairs with her to be thrown out, the staff just stared at me blankly like I was crazy. Not even an apology for the fact that I just threw away 8 dollars. Obviously the customer's satisfaction means nothing to them. Terrible experience. read more

Nice modern place. My latte was beautifully made, milk was perfect. My coffee was however a bit bitter. The baristas were very nice.

This is my second time going. I went around 12:30, which was lunch time. There was a line and there was only one person on cash and another person making the drinks. It took the girl ten minutes to make my iced mocha. Mind you this is lunch time which is probably the busiest time, and I was surprised that there was only one person making everyone's drinks. I didn't like the waiting, especially since I was on my lunch break. The other negative aspects were that 1) there are no tissues out front, so you have to ask the front for some and 2)the seats are not tidied frequently, this is the second time we had to personally remove the cups from the table before sitting. All in all, it's an alright place if you have lots of time to kill but if you just want speedy delivery, this isn't the place for it. read more

While exploring Vancouver, we decided to stop into this café to get a few drinks and snacks. We ordered a large chocolate chip cookie, which was extremely dry and obviously not made that day. I walked up to the front counter to ask for a refund, but the staff proclaimed that the cookie was fine and that we could not get a refund. Apparently this is their policy? When we asked for a manager or the policy, we were told they didn't have a manager, and that we could find the policy online (it was no where to be found). The most frustrating part about this whole experience, was the attitude of the employee I spoke to. She did not seem to understand my concerns nor was she helpful in any way. She was rolling her eyes and brushed us off. I will NOT be returning to this place, nor do I recommend it to anyone who believes in good customer service. By the way, we sent a letter to the manager over a week ago and still have not heard any response... read more
