An explanation of why I was ignored for so long was not provided , but certainly heard enough of bragging about how those million dollar homeowners love them. One can only wonder what's the hidden message there. Below is my whole project experience. I hired this company because it was recommended to me by someone who had good experience with them. However I was extremely disappointed on the irresponsible actions from the contract workers after the remaining of the work trailed for more than a year. To be fair, the initial part of experience was what you can expect with any standard professional company, the crew was polite and clean after themselves. After sometime, things began to get worse. The corner counter top was cut completely off center, after repeatedly contact and request for correction, a correction was promised , however nothing happened after almost a year after numerous back and force via email, phone calls, etc . Instead of take initiative and fixing the issue, I was given a phone number, and was told to call the counter top company MYSELF and make appointments MYSELF. After many calls with a lady who clearly has communication issues and barely understand what I was saying, a guy from the counter top company came alone , with a pencil and piece of paper board. He had no idea what was the job is for, and cut the board in wrong angle again. I caught the mistake before he left my home and basically hand held him to draw correct lines on the board. I did his work, and he left, and was never heard again. Of course, after this November 2017 incidence, everything fell completely silent again. I was never contacted to have a follow up again, or even a check in "hey, have you got your new counter top yet ? " or " I have things ready for installation ". NOTHING. From November 2017 to JUNE 2018. Ironically, all the way till I left my initial YELP review. During the summer project period, the contract worker left without making the microwave function , one light switch was installed upside down, one was not installed, thought still got charged . It was stated in the contract that the paint was a certain model, however, worker showed up with a much lower grade and claimed it was the right one. Also the contractor left was two jars of the paint which should belong to me. And painted one wall with the wrong color. AFTER ONE YEAR OF THE PROJECT I'M STILL EXPECTING WORK TO BE COMPLETED --- Update - I have to pay another company to come in , and fix all the mistakes. Also the workers parked in the wrong spot while clearly been told not to. and caused $400 towing fee and still have not paid back to me.

I bought a Miele dishwasher from ABW. after it was installed, I could not get it to set up properly…read moreto work following the Miele instruction book. A General contractor came over to help me, and he also couldn't get it to start and function properly following the instructions and after some online searching. I called ABW for help, and they told me that they do not tell you how to use the products they sell. ABW told me that I had to go through Miele to learn how to get this machine to work. Miele has a two week waitlist for In person help. I've never bought a product from a company that will not tell you how to use it before. And I will not again.

They worked with us on the design so everything was exactly what we wanted and the project manager Mark was always available to answer questions when the guys were working on the house. We now have an amazing kitchen with lots of storage and a bathroom with the soaking tub I've always wanted! Overall we had a great experience with them and would use them again in the future.

We had used KBD before on a simpler renovation (new master bath shower) and we were delighted with their work, so didn't hesitate to engage them for this far more elaborate project. Why are these guys such great remodelers? Let me list just a few of the reasons. * Completeness: Except for appliances, KBD displays and sources everything that is required. You aren't sent around to countless vendors to look at their wares and then be the middleman in negotiating appropriateness, availability, prices, etc. * Design assistance: You are offered as much or as little as you need. But be forewarned, Rich and Olga are likely to be much more familiar with design issues than you - so that when they make their suggestions, you will hit yourself on the side of the head and wonder why you didn't think of these issues or ideas yourself. * Craftsmanship: With remodeling, everything doesn't always exactly fit together. Walls are not perfectly plumb, corners not perfectly square, ceiling heights may be wavy and floors are not perfectly flat. Thus, craftsmanship is required to neatly mount cabinets and appliances to that they look seamless. KBD installers (who are direct employees, not subcontractors) all made the extra effort to ensure that everything (even stuff that we would never would have noticed) was done right and looked perfect. Thanks, Tony, Walter, Mark, Raphael and Steve. * Predictability: You are told what work and workers are coming next; everyone arrives on time; and other than for weekends (and two snow days) work is done every day. Our full kitchen remodel was completed in just four weeks - slightly faster than initially estimated. * Neatness: Drop clothes and dust shields were laid/affixed every day. And no day ended without a through clean-up of the job site. * Price: As noted by other commenters, KBD's prices, while not discount rates, are very fair for the extent and quality of work being done - and below some quotes that we received from other remodeling firms. Further, you are not nickel-and-dimed for extra costs from minor changes or challenges. * Peace of mind: Remodeling can be stressful. You worry that things will not be done right, that you are paying too much, or the final product will just not look good. Hire KBD and you can put those worries aside. My friend and I took the macarons baking class at this location this past weekend. Chef Jess was an…read moreabsolute delight! The class was about 3 1/2 hours long and held at 9am. I appreciated Chef Jess' enthusiasm, kindness, patience and sense of humor--especially so early in the morning. Macarons can be intimidating but she set up our expectations at the beginning of the class and taught us helpful techniques. The macarons turned out decent looking but tasted delicious! The class is a fun opportunity to learn, bond with friends and meet new people (especially if you're teamed up with them - you're put into in groups of 4). You get a 10% in-store discount if you shop the day of your class. I appreciated that Chef Jess gave us a brief store tour; I ended up buying a couple of her recommendations. Can't wait for my next class! All the Sur La Table staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The store is well organized and the available samples are always a fun perk.

She allowed me to ask exactly one question per interaction. They had some product brochures, but the one by the quartz samples was from 2020 so even the written material wasn't of help. The admin person was nice enough, but really knew nothing about the products on the floor and had to confer with said disinterested designer. I was referred to this place by the son of a friend who had assistance from Daniel when he did a complete kitchen remodel. Unfortunately Daniel ran away from me as I entered the showroom (I knew who he was based on his photo on their website.) I wanted a place that wasn't as precious as some of the Bethesda showrooms are, but this place isn't it. Just go online instead of bothering to drive out to Rockville. You'll get much more information that way, that's for sure. Makes you wonder how they stay in business.

Really nice selection of tile with quite low-pressure sales staff. They were happy to let me take "loaner tiles" so that I could see them in the setting I was going to have them installed and match up cabinets and fabrics etc., for the final design. We wound up redoing our kitchen, master bathroom and dressing room with their product and I have to say that the whole experience was seamless. We had had an unexpected glitch in the design plan that wasn't evident until we started demo and realized that one of the tiles we picked for the bathroom would not work. We anticipated this being a real problem as we had already ordered all the tile. However, we spoke with the staff at Mosaic and they stated they could switch out the tile with "no problems" (as it turned out, we switched to a cheaper tile, but they never made a big deal out of this either). Caveat alert: they did tell us that the only reason they could do this was because all of the tile we had picked was "in stock", not special order, so it would be unreasonable to expect that they could do this in every instance. Our contractor actually picked up the tile, but I was impressed that all the tile was in good condition. We've done large projects before and have always had a bunch of broken/chipped tile that we then have to argue about getting returned, but this was one of the best tile experiences we have had. They are not the cheapest, but they were actually a lot cheaper than at another store we initially made our selection from. Our contractor suggested we check this place out because he was appalled at the price of the other tile we picked and promised us we would find something we liked just as much at Mosaic - he was right!

The design phase did take some time, but it was time very well spent. Once we finalized the design, everything moved at a great pace, and the execution was smooth and well coordinated. This was actually my second project with H&C Construction this year, and I am once again very pleased with the results. I did not have a good experience at all with this company. First, they changed project managers on…read moreme just before they came out to do that work without explanation. When the work started, they moved at a glacier pace with erratic attendance. There were days they did not show up at all, other days they would show up unexpectedly at 7am, and leave at 10am. This was never communicated with me. Next, mistakes started happening. They painted the walls the wrong color. They put up the shower door on the wrong side. They also put up the window blind backwards so I couldn't reach or use the rod to open and close it. After the shower door went up backwards, the project manager fired the workers, but the had no one to finish the work. When they finally came back to fix the shower tiles wrecked when the door went up on the wrong side, they didn't align the replacement tile patterns with each other so the pattern is disjointed and doesn't line up at all. The project manager told me it's not supposed to line up!? After complaining about it 3 times, they finally offered to replace the tiles. But they stalled on ordering them and now it's out of stock. There are also other problems - the shower faucets are not properly secured to the shower walls, the vanity light is separating from the wall and the light switch fixture is also separating from the wall. The floor tile is irregular with grout lines sometimes thick in places, other times nonexistent. Currently, they are not returning my calls or texts. I've even reached out to the owner who came out and promised to fix everything, but commented that I was overly concerned with "small" details. Now he has not returned my calls or texts about when he will come to fix things. Maybe I am concerned with details but I'd think that is common when paying 20k to have a bathroom redone according to an approved plan. At the very least, I expected that shower tile patterns would match up and that things would be well grouted or secured in shower and on walls. This was my first renovation in my first home and I'm so disappointed in how it turned out and how I was treated by the team. Also, this 2 week project took 5 and 1/2 weeks to get to where it is now. Overall the project was done carelessly with no attention to detail and with no acceptance of their mistakes and no attempt to repair the problems identified. I see they have had good reviews in the past, but my project did not go well at all. I would definitely recommend choosing another company. When I first complained they asked me not to write a bad review and I said that along as everything was fixed we had a deal. Nothing has been fixed and they are not communicating with me. I know have to either pay another company more money to fix their mistakes or take legal action to resolve the simple issues that could be easily fixed. If detail and having a project done to your liking is important I would not recommend H&C at all.
