Let me preface, I love cold stone. However, I just walked in and they closed an hour early "for being short staffed," which is unacceptable for an hour early and there is ice cream to sell. 1. You're not making money for an hour if you close, so your employees are losing you revenue-- ON A FRIDAY NIGHT. 2. Extremely unprofessional behavior by I assume a stressed out employee, lack thereof; I blame this generation. I will continue to support this store; however, accountability is a thing and it needs to be addressed. This is unacceptable behavior. Let me tell you. I always enjoy ice cream from cold stone creamery. This location though. Its so busy. Probably cause theres not many options for ice cream shops in the area. So everyone in Fairbanks usually end up here. And I ain't kidding when I say the lobby wasn't big enough for everyone in line. Lol. For my ice cream I got a "like it size" reeses peanut butter awesome sauce substituted with coffee ice cream. This combination was amazing. Lol. Usually I don't really care for coffee ice cream. Cookie Dough Don't You Want Some !! Well yes, YES I do! This has been my all time favorite for years. It's the most decadent, creamy & cold treat. It's crave-able. After moving to Alaska, I laughed a little when I saw a Cold Stone. I thought to myself ice cream in the winter, how could they possibly stay open? I quickly retracted my statement realizing YES! Heck yes. Ice cream is a every season dessert. The ultimate dessert. Especially when filled with caramel, cookie and brownie chunk goodness. To top it all off, because why not, a waffle cone leaves the perfect crunch at the end you need. AND if dairy ice cream isn't your jam, I HIGHLY recommend a raspberry sorbet with added graham crackers & gummy bears because it is the ultimate combo! As much as I love Cold Stone, this location just isn't up to par. You're likely to be greeted by a bunch of gossiping and complaining teenagers behind the counter, who aren't shy about dropping the F bomb. Which doesn't bother me, but man does it seem tacky and unprofessional. The building is much too small and they only have two tables, so definitely plan on taking it to go, or sitting outside. We had an incident last April where my husband ran in to get three "like it" ice creams for us, and came back out with an overfilled, melted mess like nothing I've ever seen. He handed them to us, and ice cream was pouring out the sides and dripping all over our car interior. Surprisingly, it wasn't even warm outside. I asked him to run back in and ask for some extra napkins and cups, while I wrapped a plastic grocery bag around them to help contain it. He came back empty handed. After explaining what was happening, all they said was, "Sorry, we can't do that. Cups are expensive and that's how we keep inventory." It blew my mind that they couldn't make a note of three extra 10¢ cups being used for ice cream that they overfilled. But we ate what we could, and tossed out the rest when we got home. It didn't even look appetizing at that point. After contacting management about the horrible customer service, they mailed us a few free small ice cream coupons and with a note saying they hope we give them another chance. We finally did yesterday. Same great ice cream, same busy location, same disappointing service. Ironically, my ice cream was held by two cups stuck together. While writing this review I'm sitting outside eating my half ass made ice cream breathing in smoke. Such a wonderful time to be in the great state of alaska I must say. But on a real note highly don't recommend ordering anything from this cold stone that has a picture. Looks nothing like it and tastes horrid. Boyfriend ordered the Oreo Cookie Confetti Cream and it was literally soup as soon as his was given it. Not a fan, and I think next time we will save the money and buy ice cream from Fred's. read more

The ice cream is really good and we love our birthday cake remix! However, the place is far too small and the wait is ridiculously long! There are so many people just squished in there. No one respects social distancing. Every other Cold Stone I've been to always greets you as you come in but this is the one exception. Cold stone Ice cream is amazing, it satisfies every time. It is very rich, so don't get to much. The price is a bit much, but I don't think that deters enough to reduce the place down from 5 stars. If you've never been to a Cold Stone, you should definitely check it out. You can choose your own mix ins, or order off the menu. Prices are high, but worth it for a treat. The creations are sweet, very, very sweet. When I was in Jr. High I could devour a "Gotta Have It" size all by myself, but now even the "like it" size is almost too sweet. You could always share with a friend. They do have a smaller size for kids, so if you're a parent, that's a plus. Cold Stone has ice cream cakes, a classic, and ice cream cupcakes, too. The one in Fairbanks is the farthest north, so if you're an ice cream fan, you should check it out just to say you've done it! read more

I have been to many cold stones and I was not impressed with this one, the decor was nice and it seemed clean, what I didn't like where the young kids behind the counter who where talking to each other when trying to listen to what we wanted to order, as we where looking at our options we felt very rushed to place our order.. Boy oh boy, was this place a wild adventure. Cold stone usually has great service and great flavors but man does this place not meet the flipping standard. Upon arrival the establishment is hot and humid very uncomfortable to stand there and wait in line for 15 minutes, but to top it off the staff is usually some younger folks who need some attitude adjustments. After finally ordering I was given a light vanilla ice cream with a shortage of whatever toppings I ordered. I'm not sure if you've ever had light vanilla ice cream but this stuff is the bane of my existence. Who was the idiot who invented an ice cream flavor with no sugar? I was practically eating a cold ball of the blandest flour flavored dough you could find. After receiving my ice cream (I ordered a large because I'm an adult and I can do what I want, quit judging and mind your own business) I look at the dude behind me and this dude was given dude gets twice the amount I got. I don't know if I forgot to say please and thank you or if I was supposed to suck the dude off but I for sure did something wrong. The dude was definitely a different race then me so I'm calling racism. Was it really racism? Probably not but I'm upset so now it is. Ultimately I did not enjoy my experience but whatever it's just ice cream and life sucked before getting there. Fun fact: watched a girl pass out shortly after being handed her ice cream. Not sure what flavor she got but I'm still trying to find it. Was it really that good? Was it because of how bad it was? Was the order so wrong she fainted? Is their staff full of witches? This place is usually busy and it's hard to know how the staff will handle the rush. Sometimes they are very quick and other times they are very unorganized behind the counter. Was truly disappointed last time we were in; there was the usual line of about 12 people and two people behind the counter. The "manager on duty" decided to have the other staff wasting time stocking items that WERE NOT low and that forced us to wait almost AN HOUR for something they have knocked out in 15 minutes before as only ONE person was working the line. Waste of time management, horrible at prioritizing staff, and this cost them severely as SEVERAL costumers walked out because the wait was utterly ridiculous!!! read more

Imagine you are in line to enter heaven, and this is where you stop to get a treat while you wait. It is bright and clean, the smell of waffle cones and sweetness in the air. The staff is happy and will sing to you if you leave them a tip. They will mix real bananas and peanut butter together for you and then fold it into chocolate or vanilla ice cream or both if you like! The combinations are endless with choices like candies and fresh fruit! There are usually eight or ten choices of ice cream flavors available and it can be served in a waffle cone or waffle cone in a cup if you like. They have high quality fresh ice cream cakes and other goodies too. The ice cream is so good it is likely to get brain freeze more than once while eating it. The texture is so creamy and flavorful, you don't just get a hint of cheesecake from the cheesecake ice cream, you often get chunks of real cheesecake! Great place but needs better managed. Under staffed and losing money. There is usually a line of customers waiting almost out the door. Today I watched 2 people turn and leave when they saw the wait time. My suggestion , have two people making ice cream and one dedicated to the cash register.
