We normally get the cotton candy with rainbow sprinkles and this time we decided to try their shakes. The shake is 8.95 but it is a lot more ice cream in my opinion than even the love it. I got the oreo shake which is sweet cream and oreo and it was very good. We wish they had the chocolate fudge ice cream that they had a couple months ago because it was very good and rich. I haven't been to Cold Stone in ages! However, I got a coupon (BOGO) and decided to go. It was an empty day and I think a high school student was working and she looked very 'excited.' Mine was the plant based chocolate with a mixture of strawberries. I didn't mean to pick plant based but it def. lacked chocolate flavor. It was like a subtle chocolate sorbet but the texture was still good. I liked the strawberries mixed into it. My dad got coffee mixed with roasted coconuts flakes. That was a very fun and delicious combo! I usually don't like coconut things but this was exceptional and it added an extra texture, too. Since it was BOGO, we paid about $6 (w/o tips included yet). So, if I didn't have the coupon, this would be pretty expensive, in my opinion. I miss having a Cold Stone Creamery in Hawaii so whenever I get the chance to visit a Cold Stone on the mainland...I'm there. I have yet to find an ice cream place that makes a bad product. Cold Stone delivers great flavors mixed and mashed together to create your favorite concoction, mine happens to be the "Cookie Minster". The employees greeted us promptly as we entered the store and was attentive to our what we were craving. Today was the first time in several years that I've visited Cold Stone Creamery. A friend of mine used to be crazy about this place so whenever we would find coupons in the Sunday paper for discount deals we would hurry in. There were several things I didn't like about this place so when my friend moved away I ceased visiting them. Today's visit, although slightly better, didn't change my previous opinion. The ice cream here is creamy with good flavor, but I really don't like it any better than the Haagen-Dazs I buy at the grocery store for less money. I've never liked the way they mix the ice cream on the stone slab. It looks very unhygenic, although I'm sure it's safe otherwise they wouldn't do this. I just don't like it. Customer service here varies. Today the lady at the counter was very nice. But there have been many times when it seems like the counter is staffed by the cheerleading squad from a high school. They would always show preferential treatment to their friends by giving them much larger servings than the rest of us. It was obvious and happened regularly. So maybe things have improved. I understand there are unexpected issues that arise and change the plans that were initially set BUT when I place an order for a personalized cake to be picked up, I get there and the store is closed without any notice given to us, that's just not good customer service. Just left this place. HORRIBLE customer service. Lazy attitudes (moving like they were hungover). Nobody greeted us or gave eye contact. We tried to access local ice cream in our hood only to find it closed, at 8pm on a Friday night. WTF?! Ok. Cold Stone then. We don't come here too much but tonight it filled a need. Hubby ordered coffee ice cream, caramel, m&ms. Happy. My coffee lovers delight (something like that) was coffee ice cream, heath bar chunks, almonds and caramel. Yum. Princess? She chose pink lemonade sorbet, chocolate chips, and sprinkles. She ate a few spoonfuls in silence, then pushed it away. She was not a fan, it made her cry. You want kids to be able to choose for themselves but when they make a crappy choice for $5 , then what do you do? I offered her some of mine but she refused saying she didn't want to take mine away because she messed up. When I entered the store, a young lady came from the back area and walked over to a co-worker or a friend in the seating area named (Jordan) the cold stone employee had her hands in Jordan's hair. Cold Stone Creamery is great all by itself, but that's not what I'm writing about. I'm writing about the Peanut Butter shake that I get there!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was addicted to the peanut butter shakes that I could get at Coffee People. Had them (sadly to admit) just about weekly (and my waistline is admitting to that). But then Coffee People went away and now I have to go to the airport to get one of their PB shakes... Enter - Cold Stone Creamry. I've known they were there, had their awesome ice cream a time or two, but NEVER considered getting a PB shake there. One day, the thought occurred to me, I stopped by and ordered a large french vanilla shake with 2 large scoops of PB. (Actually, I went several times and we kept tweaking the recipe until it was just perfect). The result - these things are awesome! So rich, so peanut buttery. As I get back in my car to drive back to work, I put that straw in my mouth and just about don't take it out until I"m slurping at the bottom of the cup. Personally I feel it's overpriced. You're definitely paying for the experience of watching stuff being mixed in and if you're just wanting plain ice cream you can find better elsewhere. After a long time I visited Cold Stone but i now i know for sure not to go back. First of all, everything is overpriced. If you are getting great customer service and good experience, cost does not matter. I ordered icecream, the serving size was way too small. I added toppings but the girl just added them but did not make the effort to mix the icecream and toppings. She put the partially mixed icecream and that was it. I use to go to Cold stone all the time and on several occasions use to buy multiple quart size icecream mix but now i am sure it is better to go to any frozen yogurt place or buy any expensive icecreams from grocery stores. I went here for my third Cold Stone experience. It was my second visit to this location. The first time I tried to come here, I left because it was so crowded and chaotic that I couldn't even read the menu, much less order and enjoy their ice cream. This time, it was uncrowded and I had lots of time to read the menu. Luckily we were with friends and one of them loves Cold Stone, so she was able to explain to me how things work and what my options were for ordering. She even tipped me off to the fact that you can ask for samples of their ice cream. I think she gets the credit for my enjoyable experience, rather than the two guys behind the counter that made our ice cream. Maybe they should hire her to teach a customer service seminar. I tried the chocolate pudding ice cream and it was delicious!! It was just like eating a creamier version of the Jell-o pudding pop. I really should have gotten this ice cream. I'm still remembering the chocolate creamy yumminess right now! What I did end up having was a small-sized (Like It size) "The Pie Who Loved Me" which had cheesecake ice cream, Oreo cookies, graham cracker pie crust and fudge. It was good, but the cheesecake ice cream wasn't as good as I thought it would be. About halfway through my "Creation" I felt like the ice cream was just too sour. Maybe it was the combination, not just the cheesecake ice cream, but I found myself wishing I'd gotten the chocolate pudding ice cream instead. The concept of having toppings mixed into your ice cream to have a custom dessert is an interesting novelty. I really like Baskin-Robbins, Ben & Jerry's and Tillamook Ice Cream much better than here, but now that I've gotten past the bad service and tasted it, I think there is potential to be on my list of enjoyable places. The Sam is doubtful that it is actually "real ice cream." This location is close by, so it has convenience going for it. My major gripe is the service. I know it must not be the most fun job out there, but I wish the counter people were a little more friendly and/or helpful. Take a tip from Jamba Juice - answer questions and help people who haven't been to your shop before. I shouldn't have to come in with my own Cold Stone expert/guide to enjoy the treats here. Also, the store is quite dirty and none of the employees (maybe 3? were on duty that afternoon) were making any attempt to wipe up spilled ice cream or anything. My friend got chocolate on her sleeve from sitting at a table... and she was eating a sweet cream with strawberries ice cream. Yuck. I hate other people's food residue on me! I come to this location a lot and although they have few employees, they are quick and manage to get the job done! If you are stuck, try the Lemon Sorbet with Strawberries and Roasted Almonds. This Cold Stone doubles as a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Not a bad idea...I like those caramel apples, but today I wanted ice cream. Rule #1 at all Cold Stone locations: Choose the size you think you want, but actually order the size smaller. Trust me! That being said, I am now forever ruined for ice cream by S&S in the Portland area. My ice cream standards are WAY too high to levy fair reviews on practically any other ice cream parlors. I will try to be as unbiased as possible...here goes: It's cold, it's flavored, and they make you sundaes of whatever you want. I had banana ice cream (pretty good!) mixed with chocolate ice cream (meh) mixed with peanut butter and fudge and oreo cookies. All in all, not too shabby of a sundae. Minutes go by and there's only one employee really doing most of the work while the other two kept going in the back and stared.
