I really hate leaving negative reviews for small businesses, especially because I had previously been a supporter of this bakery, but after giving them an opportunity to address this privately and receiving no response, I feel like I need to share my experience. I preordered a two-tier lemon cake for my daughter's baby shower for $139, along with two dozen cookies for another $80. Just 15 minutes before I was supposed to pick up the order, the bakery called to tell me that a mistake had been made and they had made the wrong kind of cake. They offered me several alternatives, but with a baby shower about to happen, I obviously didn't have much choice but to accept what was available. What surprised me most at the time was that there was no real apology and no offer to discount the cake despite the mistake. The cake looked nice on the outside, but when we cut into it at the shower, we discovered that the top tier was lemon and the bottom tier was chocolate. The chocolate cake was good, but unfortunately the lemon cake was very dry. The cookies we ordered as party favors were good, so this isn't a complaint about everything we received. What was especially disappointing was having approximately 25 guests at the shower asking about the cake and knowing that I couldn't honestly recommend a bakery I had previously spoken highly of. Afterward, rather than immediately posting a negative review, I took the time to write the owner a letter explaining what had happened and how disappointed I was. I felt that some acknowledgment, apology, or partial refund/discount on the cake would have been appropriate. I never received a response. Mistakes happen, and I absolutely understand that. What determines whether I continue supporting a business is how those mistakes are handled. A last-minute error with an expensive cake for an important event was disappointing; receiving no response when I reached out privately afterward was even more so. Unfortunately, after this experience, I can't recommend this bakery or feel comfortable ordering another special-occasion cake from them. read more

My husband and I love this place!! It's our favorite breakfast in Hillsboro. Service is always great and everyone is very friendly. There is a reason why their biscuits are award winning. Truly the best biscuit I've ever had and the egg inside is cooked perfectly. We also ordered the BAM which was delicious. There is the perfect amount of lime in the avocado. Focaccia was fluffy and flavorful. The horchata donut is really good however I don't get too much of a horchata flavor. I normally get this because I'm craving a good original donut. This is still one of my favorite local downtown Hillsboro business and I always recommend it to anyone who is looking for a spot with great coffee, baked goods, and a charming hangout spot. However I was very disappointed specifically with the special 16th anniversary box that was not actually the anniversary box. My friend and I decided to have brunch here and ordered the prettiest drinks (her a banana tiramisu latte and me an iced blackberry matcha) both were as delicious as they were photogenic. The egg sandwich with bacon was the perfect savory dish. The red pepper gravy had a unique creamy taste, but we did wish the gravy itself was warmed up along with the fluffy biscuits. The service was pleasant but not overly friendly. We did enjoy sitting by the window in this quint house cafe near the mantel. On our way out, we picked up the anniversary treat box we ordered and did not open until we got home. At first I was happy with the full size pastries we got (my friend got the same thing) although some of the pastries were slightly burnt. Then another friend picked up the same anniversary box that weekend and sent me a picture and it was completely different and was the actual promised special treats box. It did not click for me until I saw the difference (newborn trenches brain...) especially after I give away some of pastries to friends too that what I got was not the anniversary box. It was still a very great deal for all those pastries that they have everyday in the shop so I am grateful for the deal, but I was still disappointed since I'm not sure why this happened. I now understand what the hubbub is about macarons.. Wow. they are like little works of art for your tastebuds. at 24 a dozen a bit steep, but treat yourself once in a while. I would highly recommend the buttermilk biscuits to fill you up. they are soft and flakey but have good volume to keep you full. What a lovely place! After seeing the Yelp reviews and pictures, I was really excited. I purchased a fancy brownie and an iced mocha. It was in-house made chocolate... but it was made with regular milk. That is the downside.I don't like the flavor of milk. The brownie was unusual and definitely decadent! Come inside to relax, study, or visit with family and friends. The staff was very kind and helpful. You will definitely find a sweet treat in their cases. Something for everyone and I'm sure of that! I went in to grab two Salt & Honey pies and came out with a few more tasty treats. The honey salt pie has such a unique flavor and my family loves it so much. I bought one of these pies to drop off at my clients for their closing of their home since it was a bitter sweet sale and move. Amazing pastries. We had the Caedmon rolls and the strawberry muffin and the poppyseed passion fruit muffin. They also serve breakfast/brunch all day!!! SO SO DELICIOUS!!!! I first tried some items at the Beaverton farmers market and I HAD to check out their actual bakery. Both times i've gotten the horchata donut and the chocolate mousse cupcake and they were delicious! I seriously can't get over how good the mousse is on that cupcake. there were other items as well like pies, coffee, cakes, breakfast, lunch, and etc, which I ominously didn't get to try but can't wait to do it next time. I went around 10 AM on a sunday and most of the seating inside was actually filled up. The lady who helped me was extremely nice and friendly and even told me about their stamp card, which I never would've thought they had. It's a stamp per every $5 item and then you get a free $5 item once it's all been it's stamped. I cannot wait to be back and try more goodies! read more

I ordered a German chocolate cake for my birthday, and it surpassed my expectations. The chocolate cake was incredibly fudgy and moist. The buttercream wasn't too sweet or too heavy. The coconut topping added the sweetness and creaminess to balance out the dark chocolate. The cake will be a big hit, so I recommend ordering one size above recommended so you can keep leftovers for yourself! When I went in to pick up the cake, I also ordered a Cowgirl breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. The barista was friendly and recommended one of the house drips that day in particular. I was having guest over and thought it might not be big enough to serve all my guests, so I went to a market and bought a pecan pie. Their confirmation email says they will contact you by email when your order is ready. I waited until late afternoon on the day it was to be ready, no email. I called, it rang several times, no answer. So, I drove down there to pick it. It was waiting on their shelf. One person helping customers, while others seemed to be wandering around. Ok so usually we have no issues with service or the food, but this was from last Saturday 4/18 and I'm still thinking about it. My husband and I came in with our son after eating at the food trucks nearby, we wanted a sweet treat so we popped in. We got to the counter and I'm not sure if it was the owner or employee (female with longer blond ish hair) but they stood there expressionless just looking at us. We decided on what we wanted and waited for a friendly "what could we get you" or something of the sort...nope, just awkward staring. So we started saying what we wanted and again..just staring. At first I wasn't even sure if she was getting our order because she didn't respond at all. Then finally she repeats the items and asks if there was anything else, to which we said no. This person had no smile, no kind tone, I'm not sure if she was having a bad day or what. It's hard not to take it personal since there was no obvious reason for her demeanor, no lines, we weren't there right before close, our order was literally 3 items from the display case. It was so off putting that I actually commented about it to my husband again today and he agreed, such a simple interaction to be so....Bleh. Just a yucky feeling. I was in desperate need of a decorated sugar cookie on Friday after watching a baking show on the tube. We called the shop prior to heading over to see if they had any and they did...so off we went hoping to return with a stunning iced creation. It's a very cute little bakery shop, and was hopping on Friday afternoon. There were quite a few pastry options from which to choose, as well as cookies, cupcakes, and pies. The iced cookies weren't quite the cookie masterpieces I was hoping for, so we chose some other treats to try instead. We decided upon a cream cheese and a blueberry pastry. We also chose a few cupcakes and donuts to try, and the hubby and daughter got some coffee. The chocolate cupcakes were great, fabulous flavors and very moist. The banana cupcakes weren't quite as tasty, nice flavor but not as moist as I would've liked. We didn't care for the potato donut, however the flavor of the horchata one was good, just a tad sweet for my taste. The pastries...they were delicious. The pastry itself was much denser than I'm used to, but we found it unique and really enjoyed the flavor of the dough a lot, as well as the toppings. I stopped by here with my mom as they're right next door to Collective Market (another review I posted earlier). This was afternoon on a Sunday and they were very quiet, so I wasn't expecting a large selection or freshness to be honest. And I was so surprised! I picked up a lemon poppyseed scone, ginger molasses cookie, and a chocolate sea salt pecan cookie. I HAD to stop myself because there were so many options, I could've walked out with one of everything. The pastries I picked up were SO FRESH! And not only tasty but you can tell the quality of ingredients used is awesome. One note is they don't currently have Gluten Free pastries (my mom is GF). Even though I'm not a big fan of smoked gouda, it really elevated the flavor of the biscuit, egg, and aioli. All the ingredients worked well together. The petite crispy biscuit is moist and bursting with flavor. Hands-down among the best biscuits I've had in the country! Instead of the egg patty, I wish the eggs were fresh, eggs over hard would be perfect! The Salted Chocolate Potato donut was surprisingly delicious and had a light and airy texture from the potato. A delightfully odd pairing! The Mocha made of real chocolate was divine and not too sweet, it really hit the spot and hands-down the best mocha in the area. The sweet treats cannot be missed, less than impressed with the rest of the menu (mostly breakfast/brunch) and items from the coffee bar. Place your order at the counter inside the little house. They'll pack up baked goods for you right there. The prepared stuff takes a bit more time; ours came out at different times, which I'll overlook bc this place is casual like that, but it wasn't great having to wait for a regular coffee with ice. It's a cute spot right off main street Hillsboro and has outdoor seating. Decadent Creations is located in an adorable little house in the middle of downtown Hillsboro. It feels so cute and cozy inside, and the employees are very warm and welcoming. The reason why I came here was because I was in town visiting my cousin, and he suggested I try Decadent Creations for their breakfast sandwiches that are served all day. I didn't have any expectations of the place, but I was thrilled to find that Decadent Creations was this beautiful bakery loaded with amazing looking cookies, cakes and pastries. They also made craft coffee as well as food and drinks with seasonal flavors. This was Heaven for me, so my sweet tooth guided me into a different direction. I ordered a nonfat French Toast latte, pumpkin pie brioche and salted chocolate chunk cookie. The latte was excellent. It was smooth and creamy, and I appreciated that I could taste the espresso. Even though it had brown sugar and maple syrup, it wasn't overly sweet. MOVE OVER, Starbucks' pumpkin cream cheese muffin... Decadent Creations' pumpkin pie brioche pastry is way better. The brioche was super soft and flaky, and the filling really packed in pumpkin flavor and had a cream cheese base. Lastly, the salted chocolate chunk cookie was simply a solid cookie. I liked that the chocolate chunk was more of a semi-sweer chocolate, so I felt that the cookie had a great balance of 3 flavors: salty, bitter and sweet. The cookie was firm but easy to bite into or break apart. I still want to try the breakfast sandwiches one day, and there were so many other sweets that piqued my interest. I look forward to future visits at Decadent Creations every time I'm back in town. read more
