A small blessing: this place is not open on Sundays leading us not into temptation. In Sherwood, the obvious comparison is to Hungry Hero Bakery. I like Hungry Hero and it's within walking distance of my house. But I can't stand anything chocolate there; all of their chocolate tastes of coffee. I understand that; it's a chef's trick. A tiny bit of coffee works almost miraculously in chocolate -- especially dark chocolate -- to boost the chocolate flavor and intensity. It only takes a tiny amount. If done correctly, you don't taste the coffee, just the amped up chocolate. But Hungry Hero over does it... way over does it. They ruin chocolate. So, if I want chocolate -- and who doesn't? -- I've got to drive to Crumbl.

What was much harder to overlook was the behavior of the employees working behind the counter. The group of teen boys working that evening were incredibly rude and unprofessional. They were loudly yelling, jumping on each other, and physically hitting each other right in front of customers. This wasn't playful behavior that could simply be brushed off. It was disruptive, inappropriate, and frankly concerning to witness especially in a roll such as food service. I understand that employees are young, but there is still a basic expectation of professionalism when you're working with customers. More importantly, employees should not be physically roughhousing in or around a kitchen where there are obvious safety hazards. Management really needs to address this behavior. Running out of a cookie is one thing but leaving customers with the impression that employees can behave this way without consequences is another. I hope this is taken seriously, because the experience was disappointing and startling from both a customer-service and safety standpoint.
