Cold stone has slowly begun to fade in to the background in terms of ice cream. The Twin Cities is booming with local ice cream shops that offer more than the old-school cold stone. However; it does still have a soft spot in my heart. I stopped in on a Wednesday evening around 6:20 PM. There was one couple in front of me and I was able to sample two different options. In total I ordered three ice cream containers to go. Service seemed OK at first, the first ice cream was scooped with no issue, but halfway through giving instructions. Another employee interrupted and wanted me to start telling them about the next one. This didn't make a lot of sense as I was the only one in line. It also caused a lot of confusion. The second ice cream I ordered was going to be consumed by me, so I knew exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, the portions are anything but consistent here. See photo for description. The third and final ice cream I ordered was a love it, but they gave me a like it. Unfortunately, I was not offered a receipt, so I have no idea if I was charged for it. While checking out I mentioned to both staff members that the ice cream was in even as far as proportions go. Just looking at the ice cream containers you can tell that one is not full, but neither were willing to address the concern. They placed my items in the bag and walked away. Honestly, I have no intentions of ever returning to this location or recommending it. There's honestly no reason when the customer service is lacking and the proportions are uneven, plus the consistency sucks. Had the employees addressed my concern. I wouldn't be nearly as annoyed, but because they missed an opportunity to correct an issue in the moment, I don't see any reason to return. This location is poorly rated, and I can totally understand why. It's honestly not worth it when you can drive a couple of miles to the next location or grab an ice cream from a shop that's locally made. Do yourself a favor and avoid this location because there's no way you're going to be happy with what you're getting. read more

This Coldstone is in a great location right in downtown Hopkins! There's a few tables inside to enjoy your ice cream, but you'll have to walk down the block to one of the benches if you're planning to eat outside on a nice day. They've always had a dairy-free option when I've visited too! read more

I ordered the cotton candy ice cream, but it tasted like vanilla ice cream that just had blue food color added. it's like they were trying to gaslight me and also placebo affect me at the same time, which doesn't feel very transparent. The consistency was too melty and soft. Consistency of the strawberry and chocolate were similar to eating a marshmallow. Service was not great. We stood in line for way too long and there was only one person ahead of us. I expected to have some ice cream that would warm my heart, but instead it cooled my soul. I've been several times and my experience is always the same, quick and simple. This particular time I went for my seasonal favorite the Treat or Treat with Boo Batter ice cream. The gentleman behind the counter was kind and quick. Rolled everything into a tight ball and I was on my way. I feel sorry for the several others who have had bad experiences here. Whenever I have been to this ice cream place, my experience has nothing lesser to being pleasant. We have had our birthday cakes ordered out of here and they have always given the best of it. The ice cream cake is a treat for people of all ages. I have always found that they have a standard set of ice creams to offer, which don't get rotated. But the flavors are very creamy true to its brand name. The staff have always offered free samples on little spoons how many ever times you ask for, without complaining. The method of preparation where they amalgamate different flavors with top up flavors is a treat to watch. Make sure you try the different wafer types over the cups when you are here. At price level, it is little over nominal. But this place is truly a ice cream wonderland in Hopkins that's open all seasons! read more

There was a communication barrier and the staff did not understand my request. I ordered vanilla ice cream with toppings and she put a vanilla ice cream in a bowl and then handed it to me without the toppings. I had to ask her three times that I want to toppings. Then I had to tell them three times what toppings I wanted and they didn't understand me. Then he asked how many ice creams I ordered and clearly he helped us and knew. It was just not a good service and not a good experience that ice cream did not taste good at all and we did not finish our mini cups. read more

Wow! The employees here are very friendly. Was greeted and asked if we wanted any samples. Tried a few samples and the cookie butter was amazing! I ended up getting a couple bowls. One had cake batter (the best flavor in my opinion!) and Reese's. The other had sweet cream and Oreos. I really wish they would put some toppings in the ice cream though. Me and my wife have been to this location few times and the service is a hit or miss. Usually our service here is a 2 but sometimes there is someone really good behind the counter and is worth a higher rating. Store: The store is in an easy to reach location right on the tail end of Mainstreet in a nice building. The store on the inside is usually okay looking but doesn't look like it's been swept or deep cleaned during the day. The store is small and there's a few tables to sit inside and out. If there is any other customer in there at the same time as you this place is loud! It echos people's voices so we try to go when people aren't there. Service: Great service here is a rare occasion. We have come in to just kids behind the counter with poor attitudes that seem bothered by you being there. We have also had good people that want to help and seem eager to get you in and out of the store. More often than not the people are okay but not super friendly. There is usually an inconsistency with the product as well. There's people that will fill your bowl half way and others that will overflow yours past the brim! We like going to this location when school is going on because we have had better service without the younger staff behind the counter. Food: The food here is pretty good and that's why I gave this location a 3 instead of a 2. It's good Cold Stone ice cream and toppings that you would expect from any Cold Stone. We haven't had a bad experience with the taste of anything and if you like Cold Stones flavors you'll like what you get here. Overall this place offers good Cold Stone desserts that you'll enjoy if you are into Cold Stone. This location is a hit or miss but usually a miss. We haven't had a bad experience to make us stop coming yet but I would suggest to go to a one in a nicer area if you plan on eating it your ice cream at the store. read more

Fast service, ice cream is consistently very good. Hadn't been there for a while and it was like I remembered!

I would say the biggest issue I have with this particular Cold Stone is inconsistency. Sometimes we have good service, sometimes we feel like the employees wished we never walked through the door. We usually see either one sometimes two employees that seem to hide in the back unless customers come in. Also with the actual product, we've gotten ice cream packed with toppings and filled to the brim, and ice cream with barely any toppings and a size too small.. Today specifically we had decent service, my husband and I got the exact same thing yet his was piled on and mine was barely filled over the top of the cup. The ice cream itself is delicious, but with the inconsistency of the service and finished product, I can't really reccomend this location. read more

Never again! We have frequented this location numerous times but never again. We had a coupon and no one behind the counter had a clue what to do and even after calling the manager they could not figure it out. Also, there is a sign posted they have banana and coconut and when customers ask for them they are told they are not available. Then while we're we're waiting for this whole coupon disaster the POS system went down. So we had to wait for that to restart. And trying to show the clerk the coupon on the knobs she grabs the phone out of my hand and took it behind the counter. We tried to use Apple Pay and she started to turn on an iPad so we said forget it. We waited long enough just use the credit card. She proceeds to take the credit card out of my hand. Definitely gone down hill and whoever is in charge doesn't understand the branding!! Ice cream is good but the experience is why I give it a rating of one! One disaster after another. read more

Absolutely unprofessional service. The supposed owner of this particular store does NOT know how to treat their customers!! I feel bad for any of her employees who have to deal with her outbursts! Entirely unprofessional, rude, and not worth any hassle of even entering the store. They throw a fit over remaking a mistake (on their half) even when its an allergy related issue, even when it's not busy at all. Love the ice cream but the service is poor. Owner needs to understand that an online order is as important as a customer in line. When you order online and come in 20 mins later and are told we are busy so your order has not been started. And adding insult to injury come to find it has been sitting in the the fridge the whole time as I waited 15+ minutes. The customer service here is horrible. You are not greeted with a smile or anything remotely close to friendliness. If we didn't really want to travel farther for ice cream, there would be no reason to come here. It is amazing that people want $15 hour for fast food service. A few years I stopped going to this location because the quality and service was lousy... new owners, service improved. But now it's starting to go back to the previous setup. They hired a new girl, and although I do understand people have to learn, after a couple weeks you should be a touch more proficient. This young lady doesn't pay attention to what you order, and the quantity isn't right. I will accept the excuse (barely) "she's new" once... not twice. I asked for my money back this time. And I wil not use that employee if she is there my next trip. If she's the only one that can wait on me... guess you won't be getting a sale that day. In my 35+ years of customer service, I have NEVER used the excuse that a person is "new"... I apologize that the service was poor or the item wasn't correct, took the time to make it right for the customer (not tell the person that didn't perform correctly to "make a little bit more"... I won't even start up about the woman who said that... I honestly didn't even think she was still there, for she was the reason I stopped coming to this store!) and make sure that the customer was happy in the end. Best ice cream shop in town. (By town I mean Twin Cities. Yes, believe it) I come here during my lunch break right when they open around 11am. The owner is very nice and friendly, always knows what I want. Kids size marshmallow ice cream with extra sprinkles. Not always available, but I found out they save a container of this stuff in the back! She happily sold me some. Very thoughtful. Easy to talk to. Asked her how the Mario and Luigi cake was selling, and she was very honest with me, explaining that they had only sold one! Who wouldn't want a rainbow sprinkled road of blue deliciousness! If I had any kind of occasion to celebrate, I would have certainly thrown money at this.Business is very good here and they are by no means closing down. I believe in supporting these franchise stores, especially when they are close to where I work! After going bowling at Tuttles, I had a sweet tooth so I decided to go to Cold Stone. Since the closest Cold Stone to me in Crystal closed, this is the closest to me. So I am a horrible person. I used Cold Stone as a bribe to convince my bride to attend the gym with me. So after our workout we drove straight to the shop. We arrived just before closing time and there was a small line waiting to be served. I don't know what you call a person who makes your ice cream treat, but when I ordered I asked for a waffle bowl, and the guy who took my order must have asked me half a dozen times which type of waffle bowl that I wanted. Yet, when he handed me my ice cream treat he gave me no waffle bowl. I am not the type to get all bent out of shape about something so small so I saved my 69 cents and moved on. The same ice cream guy took my bride's order, and apparently he needed more cookie dough for her order, which we found out after he disappeared for what felt like 10 minutes in the search for more. He found none and offered to include a baked chocolate cookie in her ice cream. Which she accepted. But during his search he completely left his cohort to deal with the line that built up behind us. I wouldn't have been so happy about that if I was her, and it was less than desirable to wait for him to return to finish making my bride's after gym treat. read more

I am a member of the club and walked in with my fiancé to get a treat before a movie and I'd forgot my printed bogo birthday coupon.. I asked if I could use it by showing my email from my phone with The birthday coupon on it and this really rude employee who was helping someone else heard me and shouted out that I could not use it because his mom tried to do that and she wasn't able to. They finally allowed me to but I was put off by this young mans behavior. Then the snide looks from him afterward were uncalled for. I guess he was mad they allowed it. The second issue is that this location does not have the various flavors of ice cream this company advertises. I get emails from them with new flavors but when you go into this particular store they only have a few basic flavors with shrugged shoulders and no explanation as to why. Wierd. The cake batter ice cream is delicious! I went here with a roommate after hitting up a local bar, and I must say, it was a great way to end the night. The server was friendly, and walked us through the options. I work in market research, so I'm fairly familiar with how these types of establishments run, and everything was in excellent condition The ice cream tubs were full, and the counter was clean and well-maintained. As one can imagine, the temptation's there to slack at the end of the night, but the server was there to greet us right as we walked in.
