There are two elements to a cake: (1) the cake and (2) the frosting. Cake was great, frosting was WAY too sweet IMO. We ordered two "Teeny Cakes" for our twins' birthday. The cake itself was delicious and fluffy! They kindly added a monogram decoration, which was professionally executed. Only drawback, again, was how distractingly sweet the frosting was. I ordered a dump cake from here and it was absolutely delicious and was exactly what I had in mind! So I was so disappointed by the cakes I ordered through Queen of Cakes. I ordered two 1/4 sheet cakes for my birthday. the decoration was generally good except I didn't like the silver fondant stars. The cakes (chocolate for one and almond white for the other) tasted good but were a bit dry. the fillings (Baileys Irish Cream mousse and Vanilla Bavarian cream) were delicious but they were not spread to the edges, so the frosting was used to connect layers up to 2 inches into the cake. There was such a thick layer of frosting - it dominated everything. And it was terrible. So called buttercream was very clearly made with shortening. Given the price of these cakes, it should have been butter. It was SO difficult to clean up because it was like grease. Didn't melt with super hot water. Honestly I was so disappointed and frankly embarrassed to serve these cakes at my party. I would never order from Queen of Cakes again. read more

Not much room as you enter, but the see through window showcasing their artisan bakers at work is inviting and gives you the feel of a busy little workshop! They have made to order specialty cakes, ready to buy medium sized ones and the teeny tiny single serve cakes beautifully decorated like any speciality order. It's the perfect size for for any occasion at $5 , especially if you are on a diet or don't have a sweet tooth, yet looking for a cake to celebrate an occasion. I couldn't pick the already made teeny cakes as they were too feminine, so one of the staff decorated the little cake she was making to suit my taste and also piped a custom wish on it ! My fiance and I came to Queen of Cakes for a wedding cake tasting. Terri was super nice and accommodating. Their website has a lot of pictures of cakes they have made in the past, but they're also happy to work with you creatively to custom design your vision for the perfect cake. In addition to trying the bakery's bestselling cake and mousse combinations, they were also able to get us a sampling of the flavors we were most interested in. I would recommend trying the raspberry mousse with lemon cake as well as the pink champagne flavor! My fiance loves Oreo and Terri was able to whip up some oreo mousse that was TO DIE FOR! Queen of Cakes is awesome. My husband introduced me to their carrot cake and it quickly became a love affair. I've never been disappointed - the cakes, cookies and bars are all great. The staff is so incredibly nice and more than a year after our wedding, they still remember our names when we walk in. I love small townish shops that have personal service like this. All of the flavors of cake are awesome. I've tried them all! :) I wish I could pick just one favorite combo, but I can't. White cake w/ raspberry filling, Chocolate cake w/baileys filling, Red Velvet w/triple berry mousse.. mmm.. The buttercream icing is GOOD - not too buttery, it has the right amount of sugary sweetness. Personally, I think QoC's cake tastes better than Wuollets and it's less expensive. The one thing that I would encourage QoC to do is to update their photo books. When we looked at their previous work to decide on the look of our wedding cake, I found that much of it was a little dated looking. I have seen (on other websites, not thru QoC) more modern looking cake designs and I think it would be a huge benefit to them to include some of these. I absolutely love this place and so happy that I used Terri for my wedding!! It was perfection! I wanted a very simple cake, slightly "naked" and Terri did a fantastic job. Above that, the flavors of her cake are phenomenal!! Terri is so easy going and made ordering so easy. Weddings are already so stressful and the ease of picking this cake was so SIMPLE! I didn't have to sacrifice flavors (I loved ALL of her cakes and finally narrowed down to three - she let me have all 3 flavors without hassle or extra fees!). She doesn't up charge for all the little things that other places do which gets very frustrating. I truly couldn't ask for more. There were no hiccups. As soon as I contacted her, she set up a taste tasting for me and my husband. She even gave me extra pieces to bring home for my bridesmaids to try. I was very disappointed with the service I received from Queen of Cakes for our wedding. It's like they didn't even listen to specifics. We asked for specific cake toppers, make out of cupcakes so that we could feed those to each other, rather than a piece of cake (and we explained this to them) and paid extra for them, only to have put these hard frosting things for our toppers that there was no way we could feed each other. We also asked for our cake to be covered on fondant polka dots, only to have the polka dots be little frosting dots all over, not at ALL what we wanted. The cake was good tasting, but nothing crazy wonderful. It's a good deal for cake, but I could get better tasting for the same price at Lunds and Byerlys. They were on time with the delivery to our reception site, and it the cake looked good, no one knew the difference but us, but it was like they listened to our special requests and then totally ignored them. read more

We went there last night for a cake consultation - the cake flavors were decent - but some were weird and way too sweet - the fiance thought their cakes were dry . .. the best by far was the marble, lemon and the white - not a fan of others so much - just kind of off putting. The consultation seemed kind of awkward - we showed a pic and said we were looking for something like that - basically a tree stump with fall leaves - and didn't get a lot of feedback from the person in terms of design. We left having no clue what our cake would look like if we ordered from them - so pretty sure we are going to pursue other options. Also the sheet cakes for weddings are double the price - this seems to be a practice at plenty of places - wedding sheet cakes vs. regular sheet cakes - I asked and I was told there was more handling on it?? How? Also there is a delivery fee - which seems like if you are charging double for a sheet cake - that is already included?
