It's a small little ice cream shop in Blackstone. They sell milkshakes, ice cream cakes and cupcakes, and ice cream. A little on the pricey side, a medium was almost $10 but definitely worth it. Came here on Wednesday to get my usual strawberry banana rendezvous. I never go to this location because it's much farther away from my house, but I was in the area so I stopped here. This location is MUCH more expensive than any other location I've been to. A like it signature in a waffle cone came up to $9.81. Thats about two dollars more than what I usually get it for. Now, being a chain restaurant I would have expected the prices to be the same especially if they are in the same state but I guess I'm clearly wrong. The ice cream is phenomenal, however, it can be a little pricy. Sometimes there are great events that heavily discount some of their items so take advantage of that. The staff is very friendly; they'll suggest different flavors, wait for you to make a decision, and they won't make you feel rushed. They are quick at getting rid of long lines, so if you see a bunch of people don't think you'll have to wait an eternity to get your ice cream. If you tip them a dollar or more they will show their appreciation by singing a song. The parking situation isn't too great seeing as how it shares the lot with several other stores. Cold stone has ok ice cream. I guess the gimmick is that they have lots of add ins like Ben & Jerry's, but they mix it in front of you. The actual ice cream has a good texture, but isn't all that flavorful. The real problem is the price point. A small ice cream in a waffle cone is $8.50, which is well above what you'd pay at any other ice cream place in the area. Even New City. Granted, the small is quite big, but it still struck me as exorbitant. Maybe they need to offer smaller sizes? Delicious ice cream, but extremely small store means you have to get lucky and go when it's not busy to be able to eat inside. It was near 0 degrees. This is only really a winter problem, to be fair. The main problem is the ludicrous prices. A medium waffle cone with one mix in is $10. Unfortunately every other independent ice cream stand closes for the season so this is your only option besides something like Friendly's. I make one (or two) special trips out to the Shoppes @ Blackstone Valley per year, and have never made it to Cold Stone Creamery! I used to go to Cold Stone, while there used to be a ice cream shop in my small, little town of Westwood (about 50 minutes from here). After the closing of the Westwood and surrounding locations, I never got a chance to revisit (besides one visit to the terrible location in Mansfield, which may also still be alive). Today, I was in the mood for something delicious, and I saw Cold Stone across the lot. I HAD to stop! Plus, I even had a few coupons in my coupon file from a recent newspaper. SWEET! So I walked in to find the ice cream parlor extremely busy (first thinking, if you're this busy here, and were constantly busy in Westwood, why the heck did you close and why not consider re-opening? I MISS THEM!!), yet also lots of staff, therefore, the somewhat busy line moved very quickly. The staff were all very friendly, and I was very intrigued with the amazing way that Cold Stone continues to make ice cream (make sure to watch when you go.... they put the ice cream on some sort of stone and keep mashing it around to get all of the mix ins intertwined, quite cool, and very different). I finally made it here after a year. The selection is small but very tasty. The prices are high. For medium ice cream dish and small shake $12. The apple pie ice cream was food but I have this with grocery store brands. Not worth the extra expense. The chocolate fudge gourmet shake was extremely rich (too much for my taste). Hubby loved it. Went here on a Saturday afternoon in March. Cold Stone is one of the few places that is open during the early spring! I ordered a small Cake Batter® in a sugar cone. The cone was a standard commercial Joy® brand, nothing fancy. The ice cream actually tasted like cake! The base prices were a little high, but there wasn't much of a difference between the small and large sizes. It's almost like you're paying for the service, which is excellent. What an absolute shit show. In the last month we have come in twice. Both times we placed online orders because the times before we were stuck in a line outside for an hour. When you walk in and are obviously waiting for your online order NO ONE acknowledges you. I stood behind a woman for seven minutes before anyone acknowledged her or inquired about her order. Meantime, you have people in person placing orders and walking out while we haven't even been acknowledged. Once the lady was, she got her order and mine was yet to be finished. So I had to continue to wait. Online orders should take precedent, but I can't expect this establishment to understand that when it's run by teenagers. One person doing online orders while 6 girls run around like chickens with their heads cut off not acknowledging the customers that have already paid. It's a foul way to run a business and I find zero reason to line the pockets of a sub par company with bad customer service skills. We are in a pandemic and they have crowds of people gathering in and out of the business. Seems like they need more experienced people running their shifts, a new system for online orders or maybe hire more staff? The way it's run now can't just be pissing me off... but doesn't matter now. If I want overpriced ice cream I'll take myself elsewhere. read more

Although I rated this store with only one star, I really like it and will go back again. I love ice cream and if the taste is poor than I will not go back. My main complaint is the inconsistency of the way the sundaes are prepared. I was looking forward to "shark week". On the first day I went in, but could not get one (even though there was a very decorative sign on the wall), because they did not have all the materials yet. The next day I went in, I got the sundae, but all it looked like was blue ice cream. There was three sharks in the ice cream, but you could not tell that they were there until you saw a lump on your spoon. You could not tell what it was until you bit into it and realized it was a large gummy. The next day I got another one and it was almost like the photo, the sharks were lined up around the edge and one on the top. The next day, the sundae had three buried sharks. The next day there was only ONE buried shark. Today, even though there was no one in the store, there was only two burried sharks. As much as I keep hoping, I don't think I will ever get one like the one on the wall. I would like to talk to one of the owners, they were never there. It is a shame, because it is obvious that the teenagers that were making the sundaes had no training and since no one was watching them, they just did it whatever way they wanted.
