It was expensive. $6.49 for a small. That was really small. Like a 4 oz dish. And it was meh. I guess their schtick is that they mix the stuff into their ice cream. Kinda like a DQ blizzard. But they mix it by hand into hard ice cream. And charge a lot more money. A large blizzard at DQ is $5.39, and probably 6 times as much ice cream. I know I can't eat a large. I got the Coffee Lovers Only. Which looked nothing like the photo. It is coffee ice cream with almonds, Heath Bar and caramel. But it was just way to much stuff in the ice cream. Like all stuff barely any ice cream. Like so much stuff I practically choked on my first spoonful since I didn't realize how much chewing I was going to have to do. I am a huge fan of this ice cream chain and their awesome creations. I can never get enough of their chocolate devotion. We regularly visited the store in Burlington, MA which was consistently great with their service . But after we moved over to westborough ,we started visiting the southborough branch and were rather disappointed with the service. Most of the time we encounter trainees taking up our order and messing with it since they are new. This happened thrice in the 4 times we visited. Went tonight around 7:45 pm (Labor Day) - we waited approximately 30 minutes to have our order taken. One group left in frustration. There were only 2 young people working and they were doing a FANTASTIC job but there was more work than 2 people could reasonably accomplish. Online customers were forming a line, and so one staff member ended up trying to keep up with online orders. The other worked counter. Can't give 1 or 2 stars because the ice cream itself tastes really good. I always get the chocolate devotion. I've been to this location several times. Yesterday however, I was upset because the teenage girl serving did not put all the ice cream she mixed into my cup. Instead, she threw about 1.5 ounces of ice cream in the trash because she thought she did too much for the small size I ordered. Such bad customer skills because of this... Or really awful training if someone taught her to do that! You'd rather throw away the ice cream instead of giving it to the customer? So awful... SO CREAMY!!! I had a sudden craving of cold stone after watching some tiktoks and it must have been god's plan to have sent me here I haven't had ice cream this rich & creamy in awhile! I had the cookie butter ice cream while my friend had the cake batter remix. I thought mine was extra creamy because I got a butter based ice cream but my friend also went on to talk about how creamy his ice cream was. They mixed my toppings nicely with the cream and even gave me a little extra on top. My only complaint is the size proportion. I got a regular (love it) size but this is considered a small size at many local ice cream places around the Massachusetts area. I will definitely be back here to devour more cream. There is a nice seating arrangement outside of the place socially distanced from each other so no need to worry about covid! First, the two teenage girls were talking out loud about how much they hate their job, the place and being there and they both looked at me and pretended that I wasn't there and continued to do nothing. The guy who took my order was super nice but one of the girls kind of made fun of him in a rude way and you can tell that they don't get along in the slightest. Worst cold stone around. I ordered a love it coffee milkshake with oreos made extra thick. I was given a cup that was only half full and extra thin. Before paying I pointed out that there was almost half of the milkshake missing at which point she offered to re-blend it with more ice cream. She did add more ice cream but did not add more oreos. So in the end I had a thin coffee milkshake that was still not completely full and I could not taste oreos. To top it off, they ran out of straws so I was given a spoon. I've always enjoyed visiting Cold Stone, however, they have moved so far away that I barely ever actually get the chance to stop in! This specific Cold Stone is in such an odd location, on Route 9 in Southborough in a small shopping plaza in the middle of nowhere. This seems like one of the locations that should have went out of business (or moved to Framingham or Natick, where all of the action is), but no, it's still here and alive and kicking. While it's pretty far from my house, it's not far enough to never visit. The ice cream at Cold Stone is something that is unable to be copied by other parlor's for some unclear reason, plus, the other Cold Stone that isn't so far from my home, in Mansfield, is horrible. This one is much better. Anyway, this Cold Stone is rather small, but still has enough space to provide all the normal ice cream options, toppings, and a few tables here and there. Ice cream cakes are available as well. Staff are friendly, kind, and efficient. I stopped in on a Saturday and there were only two other customers inside. I was in and out in less than five minutes. Even though Cold Stone is more expensive than most other ice cream places, they fill the cups to the brim (it's actually difficult to open them as they put a lid on), and with such flavorful options, it's a no brainer to stop in at least sometimes (especially if you live close by). The inside of this place seemed clean and well maintained as well. Just reminds me so much of how I miss the former Cold Stone in my small town from years and years ago. Last suggestion: if you are unsure where this place is, make sure to use a GPS or something else.... it's visible from the road if you look really carefully, but I wouldn't be surprised if tons and tons of people missed it every day... 5 stars for the Southborough Cold Stone. read more

My friend and I came here for ice cream a couple of weeks ago and had a horrible experience. Service - the teenage boy who made our ice cream was very rude and had an attitude when I asked for an additional topping, making it seem like I was inconveniencing him Ice cream - the ice cream was way too soft, almost melted; I know they have to keep it soft enough to mix in toppings, but the consistency was like a thick soup, not a frozen treat. I went before the pandemic with a friend and the workers were very attentive. There was a guy and a girl working. I was very unsure of what I wanted/what went well together so I asked her and she gave me lots of options. Bathroom disgusting....there was dried vomit on toilet bowl and no toilet paper. Filthy floors and sink. I arrived shortly after they opened and lots of ice cream trays weren't even out. The sweet Cream (one of the most popular flavors) was practically empty. The employee didn't apologize for it or even seem to care. Worse.....The employee didn't wash his hands between handling money and making ice cream and did not wear gloves. Thus, despite the fact he was social and upbeat, I couldn't get past how disgusting this place was in terms of basic sanitation. I almost always order the chocolate lava meltdown when I go to cold stone. It's my favorite and I live pretty far but my job has me driving by everyday. Unfortunately, it is the second time that I have received the smallest scoop of ice cream that can possibly be given on top on the brownie and a small dollop of whipped cream. I am paying almost $8 for an ice cream smaller than they're smallest size, "like it". Some of the women that work there do a good job at making it but it's inconsistent. I went today and there seems to be a person in training and the person that should have been training this young girl barely told her what to do and she saw what was given to me and just rang me up without saying anything. I was introduced to Cold Stone before it hit Mass when I was visiting another state. Si I was excited when this one opened close by where I live. I;ve been to the Southborough one several times and always been pleased. The last tiime I got a birthday cake for my daughter. It was delicious. We always get the largest size ice cream. Everytime we go I order a different creation and I have not been disappointed. The only problem is the counter help. There is only one girl there that is excellent. I gave her a good tip because all the times I've been there she has been the most friendly, helpful, goes out of her way to help-suggests flavors, etc. She should be manager-even the manager didn't seem like he wanted to be there. read more

I'm only giving this establishment 2 stars out of sheer generosity. I usually love cold stone and have been coming to this particular southborough location for years now. Have never had such a bigger disappointment until today, when after an amazing day spent with friends we decided to finish it off with a sweet treat because of course, what could go wrong? The ice cream was melted and soupy, tons of ingredients were missing or forgotten from our order and the two teenage girls working were complaining nonstop and overall being brats. The only thing that salvaged my experience was the nice boy that took our order. He was nice and made great conversation but even struggled to mix the ingredients into our ice cream because it was so melted. So AFTER waiting 15 minutes on line, I get up to the counter, and a rude man working there says "what do you want", so I tell him my order. I walk over to select my toppings, and he's suddenly putting gummy bears in the ice cream, even though I never said I wanted that. I told him "plain please", and "could I have shake?", Because he looked like he was making ice cream instead of a shake, and then he SLAMS the scooper and the gummy bears down and says "Oh, okay. What size?" And I told him medium, and he looked so angry as he was making the shake, as if he god forbid had to go out of his way to serve a customer a shake. But that's not it. I know. As he's making the shake, he's touching his "back side" and his shirt, so therefore he has NO MANNERS. Who is this guy and who hired him? When I walk into cold stone creamery, I don't want to see a scrawny guy scratching his "back side" while touching my shake with his skinny hands. I found a hair wrapped around the bottom of my cup 10 minutes later, and I couldn't get it off the cup. Then it got stuck to my car cup holder and I couldn't get it out. My ice cream then fell all over my car and then ruined my car AND my night. I hope this guy has a great night because he destroyed mine. read more

As with all Cold Stones, the quality of the ice cream is sub-par. In addition, you'll end up paying a lot more than you should given the quality of the product, especially considering the availability of cheaper options elsewhere.
