Ambience is great and you feel France in the bakery goods! Cute Boston Terrier logo. But they have amazing food that is very light and not salty and fluffy and has wonderful buttery flavors. The ambience is very cute and they allow dogs that are not just service dogs. Went here on a beautiful South End Saturday morning and the smells upon entering were immaculate. The french baguette had the right amount of crisp on the crust and chew on the crumb, and the croissants were buttery and light. The standout to me was the chausson aux pommes (apple turnover) as it had the same buttery pastry with an apple filling that wasn't too sweet or tart. A cute little bakery with amazing pastries on Columbus Ave. I came here on a Friday morning and it had a steady flow of people coming in for morning coffee and treats. Small place in the South End, fairly empty. Not that much in stock. We called ahead because the website explicitly said to do so, but that was unnecessary and instead seemed to confuse the folks working there. The pastries and quiche were all pretty good. The croissant was buttery and flakey, and the Pain Swiss was creamy and rich. We also got a Croque Monsieur, which was quite disappointing. They're pre-made and sit out, and warming it up didn't really help (nor did it make it very warm). I would not recommend it. If you're in the mood for a sweet, stop by. I love going to Colette on the weekend! The South End location is small so there's not a lot of tables inside but it's very cute and clean. The service is incredible and very fast. I've tried their baked goods and their classic croissants are one of the best in the cities. I've also tried some of their flavored croissants and they're also very good. The best part about Colette is the pastries. Their classic eclairs are delicious and very rich. I love the chocolate one they have. Another favorite are the fruit tarts. The departure of this bakery space's previous tenant was a tragedy, but Colette's presence is such a joy! They have a wide variety of pastries and breads, and they also serve coffee and tea. There's a number of small tables along the wall, as well as seats by the windows. I came on a Saturday around 8am and it was already buzzing with people. The servers are friendly as well. I got a Kouing Amann, a Pecan Paris Brest, and an Iced Chai Latte, while my friend got a Quiche Lorraine and a Cappuccino. Mommy merely needed the toilet but the courteous staff who very obviously spoke French recommended the Canele caramelized to perfection. I experienced straight-up microaggression at this bakery. The older white woman with glasses completely ignored me when I walked in, no greeting, no acknowledgment. Then my white husband came in right after me, and she suddenly smiled and said Hello and welcomed him loudly. This new location of Colette Bakery is an absolute gem to have in the neighborhood. The team working there is friendly and their food is so delicious. I got a croissant (to compare to other neighborhood croissants) and it was perfectly flaky and buttery. I also got a viennois (which are hard to find at most other French bakeries in the US) and a lemon tart. They were both absolutely perfect and made me feel like I was back in France!! The prices here are also very appropriate... I've found that other bakeries will charge $7 for a croissant which I honestly just refuse to pay, but here everything is so delicious and the right price! The vibes are very bright and airy and I can't wait make this bakery a regular stop. Would highly recommend everyone to go here! read more

Disappointing. Gave this location a try after a miserable experience in their Medford location on a rainy day some month ago where all pastries and quiche were soggy. This visit to their south end location was during a low humidity day, so there is really no excuse for the pastries. Unfortunately, Colette's quality has gone dowhill a lot since their initial year or two in Medford. The croisstants are not flaky, and the bread is just okay. If you value the quality of pastries from places like Cafe Madeline, Clear Flour, Iggy's, and Mamadou's, you will find this place disappointing. read more
