We were very excited to stumble upon Flour Bakery while strolling through Boston Commons this week! They had sadly already sold out of their sticky bun by the time we got there around 11:30am, but I actually loved the Embrace morning bun that we tried instead --the brioche was deliciously warm and cinnamon-y. My husband and I tried the achiote chicken sandwich which had lots of good crunch from the jicama, creamy guacamole, and amazing focaccia. I appreciated that there were several kids menu options. My daughter loved the kid's egg sandwich which is a bit plain but comes with a fluffy block-y egg and melted cheese. read more

Was looking forward to a chicken sandwich but since I had a to-go order, didn't realize until I got home that my order was completely wrong. I am not sure what the heck this sandwich is--but it's definitely NOT chicken salad. Be sure to CHECK your food before leaving because I regret not doing it there. Love Flour! I've tried most of their pastry menu to date, since this particular location is a beloved cafe stop for many a bike ride. My go-tos are the blueberry muffin and the banana bread, though the latter has been a bit too greasy the last few times I've gotten it. (Yeah, I know, is there a limit to butter? The answer is yes, when it soaks through the brown paper bag that it comes in.) Still need to try the coffee cake, morning bun, and chocolate pain suisse. I've never come by at a time to try any of the savory sandwich/wrap options or the seasonal soft serve, which is a dang travesty. The non-coffee drinks tend to be hit or miss, especially the fruit-based matcha ones which have enough sugar to power a few hours of nonstop work emails. The employees here are super nice whenever they see a bunch of cyclists roll up every week. read more

Flour is such a great establishment in the boston area, I finally made my way to the (not really new anymore) location in the commons. I was surprised to see that there's almost the full menu (pastry wise- of course things like shakshuka will not be there). There's so many pastries to pick from, and they have both sweet and savory! During a busy time (like the morning commute hours) expect a bit of a wait. Theres one window to order from, and one to pick up from. I got the banana bread though and didn't have to wait around for it which was really nice. The banana bread was well priced for the quantity, and was really heavy! I will say it was a bit too buttery for me, but that is personal preference. It was still very tasty. Location wise it's a great spot, there's plenty of outdoor seating and you can also easily walk around the park with your food. read more

Stopped in for lunch one afternoon. Such a cute shop right across the street from my hotel! I ordered a salmon Cobb salad with a matcha lemonade and a croissant. Salad was made up freshly and brought to where I was sitting. Salad was excellent, matcha was tasty, and croissant was crisp and buttery. Couldn't resist taking a rice crispy treat for later. Best rice crispy treat EVER!! As in you MUST try them. Better than any I had ever had. Had to look for the recipe since I don't live near here. Trust me on this, you need this in your life. This was probably my fifth visit to one of the Flour bakeries, but my first time at the new Boston Common location. I'm giving it a middling review based solely on the breakfast sandwich. The egg arrived as an alarming rectangular block of yellow--more NASA ration than café fare. I'll stick with their excellent avocado toast in the future. For what it's worth, the best breakfast sandwiches in town are still at Patty and Mike's. read more

I am a huge fan of Flour, especially their sandwiches and I have been to the new boston common location twice. I went on their second day open and had a decent breakfast sandwich. At that time, they were still getting service ironed out, but I felt confident in this new addition to the common. I mean enjoying flour outdoors on the common on a summer day? I couldn't ask for more. But the thing I want to share that will make this location a permanent standout for me is the incredible homemade vanilla bean soft serve with the raspberry shell. The perfect spot for their new location, especially for summer outdoor dining! I love picking up an iced drink and a yummy treat for a picnic in the garden. Not much patio seating, so be prepared to bring a blanket or find a bench. The line moves quickly and the service times are pretty comparable to their other locations. I'd recommend going for the items they have to make fresh and exclusive to this location (hot dog was amazing!). There are times in life when one reflects on where they've been, worlds left to conquer and...where the best pizza was eaten. If anyone could pull off true Sicilian pizza -- it would be Jo-Jo. I tried her pepperoni "pizza in the park" (no not just a slice Portnoy -- the whole thing) -- which is served by order at Flour's location in Boston Common. The focaccia base had just the right blend of softness and crunch. The sauce? -- amazing blend of spice with some substance to the tomatoes. The location of this bakery is perfect. Right in the middle of the park and it offers a refreshment, both coffees, drink drinks and pastries and baked goods. It has a real nice seating area that is outdoors and Fields part of the park.. It's quick, easy, and good. read more

Amazing 10th flour location right in the heart of Boston Common! I've come multiple times to try out the delicious soft serve flavors as well as some of the classic bakery treats. They also have the made yesterday, sold today batches that I got on my last visit which came with 3 different pastries for $7. The chocolate croissant and scones were still great at a fraction of the cost. Next time I will definitely be trying the sticky bun soft serve! We were so excited to stumble upon Flour in the Boston Common during the heat wave. I got their cucumber mint drink and it was very good and refreshing, although note that the mint will be finely chopped into the drink which does result in it getting stuck in your teeth a lot. The service was fine, not rude but not super nice either which I don't mind but just noting. They're in a cute spot as well and had dog bowls around which was nice. My partner got the vanilla bean ice cream which was just on another level. If you're in the common, definitely try at least one thing here! read more

I really loved my experience here! There was a bit of a line but it moved reasonably fast. I got the rotating ice cream flavor - peach when I went. Did the Walk for Hunger on Sunday and had some time to stop by for a coffee boost. I ordered an iced caramel cappuccino. I was serviced between 2-3 minutes after standing in line but my coffee did take about 6-7 minutes to come out and people who were after me were getting their coffees first, so I wasn't too thrilled with that. The cappuccino was pretty good. I liked the location, there's seating for those that wanted to sit and the open concept allows for a fresh atmosphere. I'd come back! read more

After Swan Boat ride, walked over to Flour Boston Common to try a couple of their exclusive offerings: soft serve ice cream (peach) and the Embrace bun (in honor of nearby "The Embrace" Memorial). Both were delicious. The friendly staff, in special t-shirts for "The Embrace", said that the bun often sells out early, so I was fortunate to be able to enjoy one. Wait line was not too long, and the staff was very efficient in preparing orders (enjoyed ours at outdoor seating). 50 cents fee added to support the maintenance of Boston Common (a good thing for the public open space!). read more

3.25 stars. I purchased one of Flour Bakery's juices, and I have to say I was a little surprised at the quality. Usually, when I order fresh juice, it has a zippy quality to it where you can feel the nourishment immediately as it enters your body. That wasn't really the case here. I also bought a couple of dog treats, and my dog wasn't feeling it either. I'm going to guess that these are outliers considering Flour Bakery and Cafe has quite the presence in Boston, but I have to say what I ordered is on the menu and was less than impressive. All that said, it is a beautiful area to take your dog and it's nice that they have an outdoor space for you to eat/drink as well. read more

First time here. Review is for the food. They have pizza on the menu but don't actually have it. Ok. I had the $$$ hummus sandwich. Absolutely horrific. Served on thick white bread they call focaccia but it's more Wonder bread than anything else. Tiny bit of hummus I scraped off the bread. The rest of the ingredients were unrecognizable and inedible. For 20 bucks with soda a total scam. If you don't actually serve something please remove it from the menu. read more

Both times I want their they were '86 the. pizza strips... honestly it is what it is, but for the facts: 1st visit- don't have any signage or cover it on the board to let you know 2nd visit the same no signage, but they couldn't figure it out till they charged me... there was one person infront of me and one came while o was waiting.... First time I went to flour it was before Shakespeare in the common. Their staff was overwhelmed (being nice and assuming it's not just incompetence- though the second visit might suggest otherwise). After waiting in line for around 45 min (and missing a good chunk of the opening act) I got to the window to find out "no pizza strips" Great, i'lll now take your over priced tomato motz sandwich. Score one for flour and one against the customer. Went there today- figure I would give them a chance when they were not overwhelmed they rang me up and then realized that they didn't have it and then simply refunded me my money.... I would say 3 strikes and you're out, but why bother at this point. I was treated like a fly by night tourist. I guess I should just goto RI as at least then I won't be wasting my time... and we be an actual tourist. read more

It is beside Frog Pond, on the Tremont Street side of Boston Common, in the small building that Earl of Sandwich used to occupy. Our sandwiches were superb, as were our deserts. The menu at this tiny cafe is an annotated version of menu at Flour Bakery and Cafe's full-service bakery and cafe's. For the first week in operation, the staff did an outstanding job. read more
