Well you gun traders know the gun store vibe. This place takes it to a new low. They are never willing to make a deal on anything used no matter how much you buy there. That wouldn't be a problem if everything wasn't inflated by 20%. Annoying unknowledgeable sales staff have to run every question by the owner who is "upstairs". Doesn't matter anyway, the answer to your offer is always no. I'm lucky enough to have a lot of knowledge with this hobby which allows me to realize that the answer they give as to why a guns price is so high is misleading, untrue, and totally ignorant. Trust a veteran in this hobby, there is a reason they have so much stock on the shelves. Shop elsewhere. read more

Wouldn't recommend going here. These guys advertised a particular gun on a 3rd party site. I made multiple calls to verify the ad, etc. They said yes place the order and come get your gun. I drive 3 hours through the snow storm to the store to get the gun, and they say they can't sell it at that price, it's too low. The guy in charge of internet sales is incompetent. I told a few people about my story and they all had negative things to say about this store. Do yourself a favor and go to a different gun store. _____ Business can say that the ad was erroneous. I really don't know what the other reviewer is talking about with Coliseum Gun Traders. During this difficult time to procure guns and ammunition nationwide (especially in New York) Coliseum was stocked with both. After calling around gun shops on Long Island and north of NYC, I was unable to find the particular handgun I was looking for and no one seemed able to order one for me, including Gander Mountain. Today, I walked into Coliseum and they had an entire shelf filled with the handgun I was looking for. Although there were other people in the store, I was tended to after a minute or so. The woman who helped me was very friendly and knowledgeable, making the paperwork process, federal background check, and sale a snap. I was in and out within about 30 minutes, with a new handgun, lockbox, cleaning kit, ammunition, and complimentary oiled cloth with the Coliseum logo. They've got a great selection of rifles and shotguns too. This was my first time at Coliseum Gun Traders, but I will definitely be back! read more

Maaaaaan, these guys are straight TRASH. Literally this building needs to be torn down. Owner needs a new gig, and their boy AJ either needs help (because he's partially mental) or he needs to let someone else do the online orders. I waited a month to get my gun AFTER it was purchased and the money transaction happened within 20mins btw. Got the whole run down and even got hung up on m, being told their top busy etc blah blah blah..and the only reason I got the gun is because I'm an absolute dick when need be and I had to be just that to stick it right up their A*****! I have been dealing with Coliseum for over 2 years now. I have purchased 2 long guns from them and a ton of accessories, cleaning supplies and ammunition. They have a great collection of many manufacturers, and they carry all the big names. In addition they are even familiar with NYC requirements which are different than the rest of the State, which is a tremendous help! No complaints here at all. I honestly don't know why Coliseum Gun traders ever got a bad review. They had both firearms I was interested in and were extremely helpful while I was choosing, not to mention their selection is second to none. I went to 3 gun stores before I went to Coliseum and their stock was what the 3 previous stores had combined!! For a relatively small store they really pack it in. And if you went there and got an attitude maybe it was because you came in with one, because I witnessed them handle an annoying customer very professionally. Oh and prices?........well, I bought a Sig 9mm that was actually $50 cheaper than any price I found on Gun Broker. Although ammo seems a little pricey, if you buy ammo at a gun store you deserve to pay top dollar. Bottom line: Great store read more

From the second I walked into the store I was treated very unprofessionally, The store had more staff then customer and after half an hour of standing around I still didn't get any acknowledgment what I did get is a rude cashier ask we to not touch the boxes of ammo when I was looking for some ammunition, while another customer was rummaging through ammo right in front of him. After about 45 minutes of the employees staring at me like I am an animal I decided to take my business elsewhere I guess my money is no good in this store. I've never left coliseum gun traders with a positive experience after over 10 years of saying "let's give them another shot". Firearms stores are notorious for having terrible customer service, but this place takes the cake. I went in looking to buy a O/U that cost over 2k. They said they had one in the basement, but would only go down and grab it if I was going to buy it, as if I was just going to agree to its condition (which I find out, was used, after some probing) without seeing it. So I leave to think about it. Then I call to ask if it contains the original contents (chokes/choke wrench) because if it did I would go back and buy it. The guy wouldn't go down into the basement to check the box, as if a 20 second trip down 10 steps would really cut Into their profits. So I just ordered the O/U on GB. I also bought a ruger american here and there was no mag in the box when I got home. I brought it back and was accused of stealing the mag. I've been in L/E for 15 years and I'm an instructor, this place talks to you like you're a child with no experience. Is it so difficult to treat customers with respect? I've steered and will continue to steer as many people away from this place as possible. Go somewhere that treats you like a human being and not a blank check. read more

I walked into an empty store and told these guys that I have recently received my pistol permit and wanted to purchase a gun. It was difficult to even get anyone's attention here. The clerk was not knowledgeable at all and kept repeating my questions to the owner. Neither seemed like they were at all interested in making a sale. It's as if these guys don't want my money. Absolutely the most arrogant owner ever. Tried to by a used rifle that I could buy online for $535. With free shipping, including the factory everything including the paperwork and scope rings. When "dealing" with the owner, who was apparently annoyed that he actually had to go out of his way to speak to me, he shoots a $495 price at me. He never even turned around to look at me or address me like a person worthy of his time. Keep your guns... I'll never need you that bad. Wanted to let everyone know about an experience that I had at Coliseum Gun Traders that truly earned a "customer for life"! I went back there to purchase my THIRD pistol which was a new Desert Eagle L5 357 "Dead Pool" gun for myself as a birthday treat. I was so happy to get it and went to break it in 3 days later, over the weekend. To my dismay, this gun did not function and would not chamber a round after a shot was taken. You had to push the slide forward with your non-shooting hand to get the round to set. I took the pistol back that Monday, and they were very apologetic and after verifying the problem by just manually cycling the slide, they sent it back to Magnum Research for repair. Turns out they replaced almost everything but the trigger and magazine well...new slide, spring, and gas piston! With my repaired NEW GUN we went again to the range, and the manufacturer said that they shot 6 rnds and all was good. Well let me tell you...one failure to chamber again within the first magazine. Then the weapon got stuck in the closed position and we could not pull back on the slide. At this point, after another failure to eject and another failure to load and another locked slide, I didn't feel safe and stopped using the pistol before I got hurt. Needless to say, my disappointment level was thru the roof at this point. Again, it's this past Monday and I walk back in the store. They look at me and I can see the look in their faces... I just picked it up on Friday and went shooting and I'm back on Monday! Jose took it out of the case and found with no magazine the slide was stuck closed and he could not manually cycle the pistol. He told me that they were just the dealer and would have to send the pistol back again....I told Jose that I feel unsafe with this pistol and I really didn't want it anymore regardless... what were they going to change now that wasn't changed 2 weeks ago??? Adam, one of the owners of the store, heard what was going on, asked Jose for the serial number, and then offered to take the pistol back at full price for store credit! I couldn't be happier and this was the best thing that he could have done! I immediately went shopping and took a new Shield Performance .45 and a new M&P 2.0 in FDE 5". I still have enough for another pistol or long gun at a later date and left 100% satisfied. YOU HAVE DEFINITELY EARNED MY BUSINESS FOR LIFE! I am taking the opportunity to add to my review after a recent purchase. In searching for a well reviewed pistol, I was having no luck in finding the gun in stock, much less an idea as to when it would be available. I have bought numerous weapons, and have built a good rapport with various gun stores and was striking out. In going to Coliseum Guns, not only did I find it, but it was also available in Flat Dark Earth (FDE). I purchased it immediately. Paul helped me throughout the purchase and did a great job. Although a glitch occurred, it was corrected expeditiously, and with minimal inconvenience to me. They even had to contact NCPD pistol licensing and you could tell that Coliseum was well respected by local law enforcement. In short, Coliseum Guns has an exceptional inventory of quality firearms, even the hard to find ones. I did notice that there was a situation that occurred while I was there. Someone wanted to sell a weapon that they had bought from another NY dealer that was not compliant. In clear terms, Andy explained to the customer why he could not legally purchase the weapon. The customer didn't want to hear it, but any rational person would understand the reason why he could not complete the transaction. These are probably the people who choose to write negative reviews. My bottom line is do your own research as to what you want, seek their advice, and be ready to complete the purchase. In going to Coliseum, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Paul for outstanding service and it was a pleasure meeting someone with Andy's knowledge. It is appreciated. I'm glad that I have learned to experience something for myself because this place came highly recommended from people I have trusted over many years. When I googled the name of course the word reviews was one of the choices. Yelp often filters out one star reviews, so I gave two, only to be sure this review is placed. I witnessed aggressive treatment to one customer, thinking that maybe it was the customer, but no. Then a non Caucasian man came in and was also spoken to in a condencending manner. Though there were four employees present, I must have been invisible as no one greeted me or acknowledged me. I came in to purchase both a handgun and rifle. I was quoted 675.00 per phone for the pistol. At the store the price was 1075.00. The manufacturer of the pistol (H/K) at the 2018 Shot show made a marked 30% reduction for the pistol and this marked price reduction on the pistol line was press released to the public, gun dealers and published on the Internet. The pistol was just ordered from H/K so this was not old stock. This was just plain bait and switch and stealing with intent from the public. When I told the owner this must be an error, he cursed me out. I was shocked and humiliated. The staff bowed their heads and gave no eye contact to me as I looked around at them as if asking is this really happening? They apparently witness abuse on a regular basis and know not to not engage a patron even with eye contact when the owner goes on his tirade. read more

I hate giving bad reviews, but in the interests of protecting others from this kind of crap, I was left with no choice this time (by the way Yelp doesnt allow less than 1 star, but you can consider this a definite zero). Purchased a firearm from them through the GunsAmerica website where they call themselves "Jays Guns" (took a little searching to find out what their real name was). Called them up the next day to pay for it. Guy who answered the phone wouldnt even give me a chance to speak saying he was busy and would have to call me back. I asked him if I he could expect a callback today?..."maybe"...how about tomorrow?..."maybe", then said he had to go and put down the phone. Called and emailed them for a week straight asking to pay for it as this is an item I had been looking for for a very long time. No response of any kind. By that time, the whole panic buying thing had started, but I still hoped they might honor my purchase agreement as I had ordered early. Guess not. Good customer service is not so common in the firearms industry, but these guys really scrape the bottom of the barrel. Anyway, I guess they found someone else willing to pay more for my purchase once the panic buying started...In the end I finally gave up on these guys doing the right thing, and just as was deleting the email regarding my purchase I noticed that "Jays Guns" is located in New York...haha, I guess that pretty much sums it up...Don't waste your time with these jokers. read more

I have been going to Coliseum Gun Traders for the past 8 years, I purchased my first 9mm from Coliseum. I just purchased by second hand gun over the weekend. Though they don't really carry Taurus, I have been waiting for the Curve to arrive. The process from beginning to end was easy and flawless, Anthony and Andrew were a great help with the process. Every time I go in the whole store is nothing short of being knowledgeable and courtesy all the time. It's understandable that a Gun shop will be busy and the staff is pulled in many directions so the customer key is PATIENCE. Don't expect to be in and out in 5 mins, beside with so many firearms to look at, who would want too. Even when I go in to window shop and waste some time in seeing their inventory they still treat me like a valued customer. They have a great selection and great staff. Also....FYI...by law no gun shop in at least New York state are allowed to discuss pricing over the phone. I recommend Coliseum Gun Traders to anyone. I wanted to write a positive review for a positive experience because individuals would rather review negative experience and rarely review positive experiences. This gun store has one of the best selections of new and used firearms around. Everything from simple Ruger .22's, to high end STI pistols and Caesar Guerini competition shotguns. It can be busy, but that's a good thing. They can also be very helpful over the phone (I called looking for a very specific used rifle, and they were able to search their inventory quickly and courteously.) I went in today to purchase a new pistol, and had narrowed my choices down to two specific models. The salesman was patient while I checked out the ergonomics of each one and chose the one that fit me best. He was also explaining what competition class these pistols would fit in, and how their caliber would be scored against other guns. I'll be back in there at some point for sure. read more

I am a previous customer having made a lot of firearm purchases in the past with Coliseum Gun Trader. So I decided to have an ambidextrous safety installed on my 1911. I have been dealing with and have been a customer with them for a long time. So on 15 April I made a call to Coliseum and ask if they in fact could install an ambidextrous safety on my 1911. I was assured yes over and over not a problem. So I brought along my part which was previously purchased Swenson type ambidextrous safety. I dropped both safety and pistol off at the Coliseum on the 15th. The salesman assured me not a problem we can install the part. On Monday the 18th I received a call from Coliseum from the gunsmith saying that the safety was installed but there was a problem. The gunsmith said that the factory grips are interfering with the operation of the safety. So I asked do you not relieve the right grip panel for this to make the safety fit? The gunsmith replied no they do not do that type of work and they had tried to modify grips before and turned out terribly. So I said to them I brought you a perfectly functioning 1911 which is my EDC gun and I got back was it gun that no longer functions. Yes the safety was installed but the gun does not work because the stock grip does not work. So I asked him do you have any other grips in stock? Answer no. So after all that time now I have a gun that no longer functions and I on my own I have to either now spend time and modify my stock grips or purchase grips that will fit. As far as I'm concerned if a gunsmith says they can install the safety means I get a complete the job and return to the customer a complete safe and functioning weapon. This weekend I picked up the gun and the salesman said why are you so to dissatisfied? I explained to him the situation. He said I'm sorry about that I can't leave you leaving the store being disappointed. So he tried to find replacement grips which he could not. So once again I left the store with a gun that does not work and I will have to do the rest to work myself. Very disappointed with Coliseum Gun Traders. read more
