I am in total shock that collectic home has an average review of 3.5 stars. Most of the negative reviews seem to be at least 3-5 years old. I want to provide my perspective on this business and perhaps how the business may have addressed the criticisms from the past reviews. About 2-3 months ago, I stumbled upon this store after visiting Trader Joe's. Since this store is in Westlake, I was fully convinced that it would carry the most expensive furniture brands in the Austin area - especially since I have not encountered a single budget-friendly furniture store in Austin (does Design within reach aka "design out of reach" ring a bell?). I was extremely surprised at how affordable the furniture is for the quality of products the store sells. Joni, the owner of this store, has immaculate taste and is incredibly well aware of the best-valued brands in the market. I have been doing extensive searches for a modern bed frame and have found 1 brand that came somewhat close to my price point at the quality I expect (modloft, rove concepts). That was from at least 20 hours of web searches. Joni had it all down, showed me one of the models for Modloft she carried in the store and recommended something far superior to anything that I found. Her knowledge of the industry is absolutely amazing. I'm no expert but not a novice either. Over the years I have shopped extensively in North Carolina and encountered all the top tier brands in America (Henredon, Hickory White, Century Furniture, Michell Gold and Bob Williams (modern) so I'm no average consumer. Most people I encounter working in this industry have deep knowledge in 1-2 brands. Joni knows hundreds and can start naming 10 brands off the top of her head (whether it is lighting, rugs, desks, lamps, bed frames) and instantly show you models from her kiosk. She REALLY knows what's out there at YOUR price points. I can go on and on about the pieces she selects and how wonderful her pieces are in the store. For a mid-tier priced modern furniture store, I think she has the best selection of items I have seen. Hands down way better than the garbage you see at places like Crate and Barrel, West Elm or Pottery Barn (sadly which most people think are upscale but are not). It's really unfortunate that her store only has 3.5 stars because of her past reviews as I think she is SO well-deserving of a 5. This is an epic store, I love her knowledge across the industry, and I love her customer service (including the delivery staff who were awesome). I can't stress how great this place is. For 2020, I give Collectic Home my #1 rating to a brick and mortar store. Please support this small business!!!!

Great service, great quality, and great prices!

Joni and the gang helped us find the perfect sleeper sofa for The Bloomhouse, our unique vacation rental home here in Austin. They had a wide range of styles and fabrics to choose from. Production delays at the factory due to Covid were unavoidable, but Collectic kept us informed and helped us navigate those uncharted waters, proactively suggesting that we switch to a slightly different fabric that could be produced and shipped sooner. We love it and we highly recommend Collectic for everything modern furniture related!

When the winner misplaced it, Joni was so kind and instantly helpful about replacing it for her.

It definitely leans toward the grotesque which makes for an interesting browsing experience. Creepy dolls, haunted masks, odd surrealist art, a lot of funky religious pieces. In regards to art, the prices seemed to be on the higher end although there is quite a bit of variety (a few hundred here, a few thousand there). I mostly focused on the art but if you're interested in smaller things, I'm sure you can find cheaper items. I did question some of the pricing -- there was a small dinosaur painting for over 3K! We were told it came from a children's museum. Seemed a bit steep nonetheless. I personally prefer to dig around small antique shops and score treasures for a low price. However, this place is just fun to browse. It's like a museum of ugly and interesting objects. If you're looking for a unique date idea, you've found it. Parents -- I wore my baby in a carrier and we had my toddler in a small umbrella stroller. Worked out fine. There's enough room to navigate without little hands grabbing super expensive objects (just keep a close eye, obviously). After our visit, I read some of the older negative reviews (10 years ago) where folks with strollers were kicked out and not allowed in. I guess they realized how much that policy can hurt them. Glad to see them wise up and start to accommodate families.

The space is very truly a thrift shop--bit of everything everywhere in the main room, and it's very fun to walk around and look for little treasures! Kevin explained to me that he rearranges his shop pretty often (he cheekily calls the practice "funk shui") to get people's eyes on different items every time they come in. He tends to get his wares from estate sales, auctions, and considers himself a treasure hunter. And I must agree! Lots of treasures in Far Out, and I loved sifting through them. If you make your way in, you'll likely hear from Kevin that he's open to negotiation and bundling items for reasonable deals. He seems just to be genuinely excited to find cool items and give them new homes. And I appreciate that energy a lot. I came in looking, loosely, for some home decor as my husband and I outfit our home after moving back to Texas from Georgia. But nothing felt quite right on the decor side. But I saw some beautiful pieces and walked out of the store with a vintage book I was excited about. So I consider it a successful trip. :) Make a trip over to check out Kevin's treasures. It's worth it!

This place bills itself as a thrift store, but the prices are more in line with what you'd see in a consignment store. The aisles are very narrow in order to accommodate all the merchandise. They definitely have some collectible items, including some vintage stereo stuff. Inside you'll also find appliances, toys, furniture, tons of clothes, home decor, drum sets and electronics. They do offer sale prices on certain color tags which are likely the items that have been sitting around for a while. About half the space is given over to clothing and accessories, you'll also find three dressing rooms to try them on. This business doesn't just accept donations, they will purchase them as well. This thrift store carries a higher quality number of goods by far than your average Goodwill, but then again they are priced higher. Plenty of photos to peak your interest below.
