Beer menu -- current May 2022

Stopped in recently for a burger and fries. The food was good, service was friendly, and the prices were reasonable. This is a place to come if you appreciate a genuine old-school dive-bar pool hall atmosphere, in a good way. The kind of place that is disappearing fast in our rapidly gentrifying world. The only thing that's maybe different is that the vibe is decidedly multi-ethnic -- the clientele consists of Latinos, Blacks, whites, and southeast Asian -- and everyone is having a good time together. And the food menu is now predominantly Mexican... although they still have the classic bar grub as well, cooked at the end of the bar. Not a bad place to kill some time, if you're into that kind of thing.

I love pool and College Billiards is my favorite pool hall in San Diego. I've been to three others that just don't make the cut. One pool hall is too expensive, another is too far, and another is way too busy. I go to College Billiards a lot with my boyfriend and have never had to wait for a table. The alcohol is cheap and so is the food, which is probably microwavable food and just doesn't taste very good, but remember that you don't have to eat there. College Billiards is surrounded by great food. I uploaded photos on yelp of the food and drink prices. The place itself is pretty run down and is located in an area that people my describe as "sketchy," but if you're not looking for an upscale pool hall and can pretty much go anywhere and have fun (like me), then this place should be pretty fun for you. There are a lot of hispanic people, but there are also a variety of college students of all ethnicities that go there as well. This place is open until 2:00 a.m. and there is a juke box with a decent selection of music. If you're not picky with the atmosphere, like pool, cheap alcohol, and want to have some fun with a significant other or group of friends or what not, you should definitely consider this place. I love it!

Is't a really excellent place, the only with 3 cushion tables in San Diego, excellent customer service and good prices.

You sit on hard chairs with a bicycle under the table that limits leg room. There is no shortage of hillbilly music to listen too as you dine on the ill seasoned subpar food. The beer menu sucks. Thankfully I didn't need to use the restroom. Who knows what I would have encountered there. The only positive thing I can think of is that the employees are friendly and accommodating. I would not recommend this place to anyone, nor would I return. If the restaurant offered to pay for a meal with drinks for our family, I still would not return.

The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 (and I'm usually a 5-star/1-star girlie) is that we haven't seen Cari, one of our favorite servers, in either of our last couple of visits. Over a year ago now, Cari stepped UP when I became faint and almost passed out on Nate's front deck. It was a hot day, I am BAD at drinking water but great at sweating; and as I stood up, I turned paper white and the world got fuzzy. Cari swooped in the moment she saw what was happening - making sure I was safely lying down, getting me hand sanitizer for my forehead and a wet cloth for the back of my neck (rapid cooling!), and orange juice for my fluid imbalance. I'm so SO glad Cari was there to take better care of me than I take of myself. I miss our nerdy conversations, and hope she'll be back soon!

She started us off with some fresh baked Focaccia which had herb + cheese baked into the top (of course it was delicious). We added an appetizer called Crespelle which was a really yummy spin on a Manicotti made the right way (with a Crespelle). The salad was fresh and tasty. We order the Rigatoni Sugo which has a Tomato based sauce and assorted meats (Meatballs, Sausage, Cubes of meat) and was delicious along with the meats as well. We also added the Picanha Steak Entree with the Brie Fondue and that was so different while being soooo yummy. We enjoyed some wine with our meal and we finished with this really delicious Bavarian Cream Filled Napoleon with a Berry Coulis (desserts do change so check with restaurant to see what they have available the day you want to visit).. Now that's what I'm talking about! 4.5/5!…read more Ended up coming back out to Clem's to give it another shot. Although my last visit wasn't bad, it was just middle of the road and left me wanting more-especially in regards to the Wagyu burger and the bacon. This time around, I decided to switch it up a bit. As we arrived, I ordered my current favorite beer on tap, Coco Ono, from Bay City Brewing. It's a piña coloda IPA that's not too sweet, and has great coconut flavor. Moments later I realized that there was a Taco Tuesday special that was $15 for 2 tacos a draft beer of your choosing. Since the Coco Ono is $9 alone (ouch!), I realized it was a better deal to get the Taco Tuesday special. I asked Karina if I could turn that draft I ordered into the special, and they kindly obliged...nice! The last time I was here, I noticed some wings coming out of the kitchen and they looked awesome. So this time I knew I had to get the wings, $16. I ordered a 9 piece of Buffalo wings, per staff recommendation, and they did not disappoint. We actually got 10 piping hot wings served with stacks of baby carrots, fresh cut celery, and both ranch and blue cheese. I'd love to see them do a homemade ranch because it would better compliment the wings than that Hidden Valley stuff. Wings were a 5/5!!! I forgot to even mention the tacos. That's probably because I forgot about them...lol. While the small TJ tacos had some solid carne with onions and cilantro, they were a bit plain. Served on two tortillas with 2 salsas, and 2 limes, a little bit of guac would have livened them up. I probably wouldn't order them on their own at $3 each, but as part of the $15 deal, it was all good. 4/5 for the deal. Lastlly, we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, which was a HITT!. I had previously tried a few slices of pepperoni pizza last time, and it was a good snack to have with some brews, but nothing memorable. However this time, the BBQ Chicken pizza was up there with my favorite one in town. It was covered with loads of chicken, which they stated was cooked in-house, cilantro and BBQ sauce. The crust did look like it was a little over baked, but it ended up having a perfect under crust with zero burnt flavor. Only the outer crust was ultimately effected and got a bit crackery. All in all it was a really delicious pie. All the while Karina and Emma were answering my many questions, tapping off our drinks, and providing pretty much anything we asked for. The food presentation was great, the restaurant was immaculate, and the service was friendly, all giving an overall 5 stars. Thanks to Emma, Karina, Paul, and the kitchen staff for making this a delicious evening. I'll definitely be back for the pizza and the wings.
