I enjoy the Fenton area as it's reminiscent of places I've lived before with vibrant open air malls. Colletta sits right in the middle of all the fun and has great indoor and outdoor seating options. Our server, Clara, was a breath a fresh air. Attentive and knowledgeable. Now for the food! We started with the focaccia, crispy clam strips and the Florentine salad. Alllll delicious! You can tell all of the ingredients were fresh and it was cooked to perfection. For entrees we ordered the bucatini and the mafaldine. Both were amazing but the bucatini was outstanding! The shrimp were cooked perfectly, the sauce was smooth and unbroken and the bucatini itself was the perfect texture. Needless to say we will be back!! Well done! read more

Had a great evening when went for family member birthday and they gave very thoughtful gifts to the birthday person. Truly have never seen that at a restaurant and made for memorable experience. Ambiance: 4/5 Not much needs to be said here, nice restaurant interiors. Service: 2/5 So take away the food and the ambiance away, the quality of the service is equivalent to what you get from an Applebees. Front door hostess greeted us by not greeting us; massive RBF and didn't say a thing after we said hello, and only said "follow me" after an awkward silence. Other waitresses/waiters seem to be having too much fun in the back, meaning that they're paying very little care to what they're doing (e.g. dropping trays, loudly stacking plates around). Tables weren't wiped after how wet it got (due to no coasters provided for our iced drinks). New utensils weren't provided unless asked. This may seem like a nitpicked review, but for a restaurant with a nice ambiance and the food prices, one would have certain expectations on how the service should be. Just compare this restaurant to SAAP Laotian Restaurant in the area - both restaurants are similar in price and ambiance, but SAAP's service is noticeably better and up to expectations. First of all our server was wonderful and engaging, 5 stars for him. Came here for lunch and had the: Burata- loved it! Hubby had the chicken parm sandwich which he didn't care for because the chicken wasn't tender and the taste was missing something. I, had the bucatini. The pasta soaked up the sauce wonderfully and plenty of large shrimp. Couldn't finish it all and had to take it home. And yes, loved my dish. First things first. This is a VERY generous three star review. I really wanted to love this place. The location is amazing and the restaurant itself is really nice! If you want any bread that will set you back $6. That's on top of entree pricing that's already on the steep end. We started with their Italian salad. This was anemic at best and for $14 dollars it wouldn't have been a great value at half the price. The real issue here is the service, or better yet the lack of. Inattentive and forgetful, despite having lots of staff on hand. After reading several other reviews I have to think it's more a training issue at this point. The entrees were actually very good despite being on the high end price wise. If you don't mind a lack of service and your server completely forgetting your drink this place may be for you! read more

Colletta is on another level both food wise and service wise. We went to collettas for my birthday, and at every step of the way they made sure to take a moment to make me feel special. They had known from the reservation, that it was my birthday and asked a few sneaky questions about me to my mother in law. They used what they learned to buy me gift, they even choose candle colors based on what they learned about me. My drink even had a little happy birthday medallion thingy on it. None of this was asked of them but they took time to do all these things when they didnt have more then a days notice with our reservation. I've never experienced such care from a restaurant. I dined in at Colletta twice so far and enjoyed my dining experience both times! I appreciate the restaurant being big and casual enough to bring my toddler while also having great food! Pizza: I tried the margherita and "Regina Colletta" and both were very good! The pizza also comes out pretty fast which I especially appreciate when dining with a toddler. The pizzas were seasoned well; neither was too salty or bland. The toppings were fresh and worked well together yumm! Pasta: I tried the tagliatelle and the bucatini, and wow I loved them both so much. I was worried the tagliatelle would be too heavy, but even my picky husband enjoyed it! I was a bit disappointed in the small portion of the bucatini, but it was so delicious I would probably order it again. The service was much better when I dined inside. I chose outdoor seating when I went the second time, and naturally the service was a bit slower. All in all, I like it and I'll be back! read more

I came to Colletta with my two friends for my birthday and had an absolutely fantastic time. This restaurant is intimate and beautiful. The team at Colletta took the time and few days before our reservation to ask for my interests, favorite color, favorite foods, and favorite drinks. When we arrive there was a birthday present that was related to my interests and it was my favorite color. This alone was impressive, but it didn't stop there. They continued to specialize our experience to make the night memorable. We got to try their spring menu items and even got a delicious dessert (which was on my list of favorites). I was thoroughly impressed by the thought and care that their team put into making my night special. For drinks we ordered Hugo's, which were made perfectly, and a bottle of Chianti. For an appetizer we had the Focaccia. This was soft and very tasty! Only issue was that it was hard to cut through the bottom with our butter knives, but overall was a very well seasoned Focaccia. For dinner we ordered the Lasagna, Bucantini, and the Casarecce! All of these pastas were fantastic and we would definitely want to order them again. Overall, the food we ordered and the food that we got to sample were absolutely fantastic. Colletta truly deserves nothing less than 5 stars and I will definitely be back to this beautiful restaurant. read more

Wait staff was very attentive to the needs of the table and would frequently come back to refill drinks and ask us if there was anything we needed. The only negative of this restaurant was the music, which was way too loud. We could barely hold a conversation because of the music. It was already noisy because of the other customers and the music just made it worse. It might have just been a one time thing, but something to know. Really disappointed with our experience here. The first downfall came when nearly all of the white wines were "out of stock". Pinot, Sauvignon Blanc, Moscato ... all the white wines out at an Italian restaurant? Ordered one of the few available wines and it ended up being delivered at the same time as the food, which was pretty disappointing given it doesn't take much to pour a glass of wine and after all the troubles of just ordering wine in the first place. Then, to make matters worse, I ordered the ravioli and it came out cold. Our waitress never came back to check on us during our meal so I didn't have the opportunity to ask if that's how the dish was meant to be served/ask for a new plate. Overall, the meal was crazy overpriced and the food was nothing to write home about. Likely won't be giving this place a second chance, unfortunately. read more

My husband and I had an 8:30 pm reservation at Colletta for Triangle Restaurant Week. We arrived 5 min early to check in and anticipated waiting 5-10 min to be seated. When we checked in with the hostess, she dismissively told us that we would be marked as arrived and then text me when our table was ready, with no estimate for the wait. Because there's no standing room in the restaurant, we decided to just walk around Fenton a little bit despite it being a bit cold out. 30 minutes went by and we heard nothing from the restaurant. My husband went in to see how long the wait was and the hostess had no update or anything for us, just told us to wait. Because that was unsatisfactory, she offered us two glasses of Prosecco on the house, which was nice, but one of the glasses was dirty and had lipstick marks all over the rim, which was gross and we didn't use the glass. We sat outside in the cold for another 30 minutes and when we went in to return the glasses, they still wouldn't seat us, even though several parties had left the restaurant and a couple had shown up and had been seated before us. I told the hostess to remove us from her list and that we would be dining elsewhere. It is unacceptable that I had to put my card into the reservation to hold our table (for a $25 no show charge) to make sure we showed up, but the restaurant feels no obligation to seat their reservations in a timely manner. We were really excited to try Colletta but will not be returning. They need to get their reservation situation figured out so that paying customers can actually be seated. read more

I will give this a generous 4 stars as I know they were busy and the server tried her best to accommodate us. We were a party of 6 who had reservations a few weeks ago. This was my first time in Fenton and while I saw the average reviews and stars, I wanted to give them a shot(because you never know!) We got a private room and the server walked us through the family-style dining options and we were originally impressed by the number of items offered for our family meal. Our appetizers were the burrata, meatballs, caesar salad, and charcuterie. We were very impressed with how soft and delicious the meatballs are. We could just eat them by themselves! Next were the wood-fired pizzas, and they were also crispy and tasty. Our pasta dishes came out and the individual portions seemed big enough for one person but they were several, so I guess they expected us to have a little of each. The radiatori was the best as far as flavor goes. The tagliatelle was a little on the salty side but rich. Chicken parmesan had good pasta but the chicken was dry. Ravioli was good but curious why the filling was cold? The pastas tasted fresh or not overcooked but some flavors tasted saltier than others. Also, the side of roasted potatoes was the winner! Lastly, the desserts weren't as impressive. The group liked the spumoni but the tiramisu did not have that distinct coffee flavor, but came with a graham cracker crust, reminiscent of cheesecake. Molten cake was ok, center didn't ooze out well. Service-wise: our server was doing her best to make sure we were attended to. The guy filling our wine didn't seem enthused to assist us. By the last half, service began to wane as they took up our plates after first round of food, but failed to replace new plates and cutlery until next round of food came and we had to ask for them. The cherry on top was when the desserts came out and no one came to get us dessert plates and cutlery so we had to get up and get them ourselves(and grab our own pitcher of water). Overall, I don't feel like the price was worth the quality we got. We enjoyed trying different things on the menu via family-style dining. Maybe things would've been different if the main chef was around(was told he was out) and maybe service is different if dining individually but I would admonish about coming in with a group and expecting a stellar experience. read more

The ambiance is very nice. I like the decorations, lighting, finishes on the wall and the color choices. The lamp on our table didn't work, though. The waiter was very nice, but not very attentive. We had to ask three times for drink refills, calling over multiple people to ask for the refills. The waiter also did not remember our order and had to confirm what we had ordered about 10 minutes in while we were waiting for the food. When the food was finally brought to our table, they gave my wife's food to me and mine to my wife. We awkwardly switched plates ourselves. There were a lot of people taking orders, but there appears to be a bottleneck where they submit the orders to the kitchen. Tons of waiters, waiting in line to submit their orders at a single intake machine and socializing with themselves. The grouper did not have much flavor. I shared that with the waiter and he was nice about it, but there wasn't a solution. The mushrooms in the dish had the most taste out of anything else on the plate. My wife ordered the short ribs and they were better than the grouper, but still not great. The food was not worth the price. Unfortunately I don't plan to return. Today was my 25th wedding anniversary and I tried to take my wife to a wonderful dinner. We were disappointed. read more

Its a pretty awesome restaurant - a bit exclusive since it is so hard to get reservation and at Fenton Mall so we had to try it. Jack was our server, awesome guy. We had picky eater kids - and even though they don't make any dish in Alfredo sauce but he convinced the chef to make it one time special for our kids. So kudos to him. Ravioli was awesome - it is the lightest feeling with ravioli i have ever had with such nice variety of flavors. Roasted mushroom were very tasty side. They do have a kids menu - I wish they listed it on their website. BARBARESCO is a nice wine (on the expensive side but worth a try). Their take on baked alaska - Spumoni Semifreddo with cherry sauce and chocolate shavings stole the show. Nothing less than perfect. My mother and I came on a Wednesday night without reservations but I recommend making reservations just in case! The atmosphere was welcoming and our server was Julian. He was so sweet and truly made out whole experience. I would recommend him if you ever have the chance to request him, you won't regret it! Tried for the first time on Mother's Day. Fenton is a growing spot with more and more choices as it expands. There was good, and maybe not so good with Colletta. First the good. Food was fantastic (at least the Rigatoni Bolognese was inspired!) and the Tiramisu was unbelievable, a new twist on presentation and texture, really terrific. Service was exemplary and atmosphere was ok (a bit loud for us as we were right near the kitchen area). Having an espresso martini available for brunch was also a winner! Now for the not so good. I ordered the smoked salmon flatbread, and it was round, so really just the pizza they offered, which was mostly crust, and just a smidge of salmon. Disappointing, should have been served on rectangular real flatbread, and with a generous portion of smoked salmon. I had to strain to actually taste any. Also, no 'bread and oil' complementary with meal, you had to pay $7 for the focaccia. Most places of equal quality don't charge for that, so that was a bit of overstretch on the cost/quality balance. Overall, it was nice, but it left some things to be desired and didn't wow me on our first visit. We probably won't rush back....... read more

New Italian restaurant that just opened in the Fenton area of Cary. Of course since it's only been opened for a few months, it will have its challenges like most places. So we sat at the bar, 2 bartenders working the area, one for customers- the other on server drinks. It was pretty busy so we did order drinks, a salad to share (in which I wish they split it in the kitchen in which that way, wouldn't be a big mess on the bar) I ordered the lasagna- my partner got Chicken Parmesan, both were delicious and enough to split and take home. Hubs finally was able to nail down a reservation! Yay! Nice spot out in Fenton Cary. Ample parking and charging stations; plenty of pedestrian acrion. The restaurant was cozy and intimate.. When we arrived, we waited at the bar by the window where we were served Aqua Panna (our choice over having a drink). We waited no more than 10 mins to be seated. We were attended to by our gracious smiling and cute server, Mitch! (Tall with dark hair) After a few recommendations, we settled on the calamari and Agnolotti. The calamari was so good! Nice, big and seasoned; fried perfectly. I so enjoyed the Agnolotti stuffed with braised short ribs and mushrooms accented with fresh cracked black pepper. OMG, SOOO YUMMY. Simple goodness! Mitch brought us 2 surprises for desert: Chocolate budini, which was a warm (actually HOT) chocolate cake topped with chocolate ice cream and topped with hazelnuts. YUMMY DELICIOUSNESS! The other was 3 little scoops of chocolate gelato topped with a crisp waffer and a small pot of rich, warm, gooey chocolate syrup. CHOCOLATE COMA HEAVEN. So cool how they asked my husband ahead of time my favorite drinks and brought us a flight of drinks they thought I'd like. I think 4 people came over to tell me happy birthday. Which was very sweet.
