I just went to Cafe Tiramisu for the first time on my mothers birthday and we had the most amazing experience. We started with hot fresh bread and a delicious blend of herbs and olive oil followed by an amazing red from a wonderful list of wines. I got the steak frits and for $40isb dollars I will be back often! It is my new favorite in North Raleigh! It comes in a peppercorn sauce that is to die for! Their new restaurant location is great! We made reservations on a Saturday night and were promptly seated. For appetizers we ordered the eggplant stacker and fried calamari. The calamari were extremely good. For entrees, our party enjoyed the chicken mascarpone, pork loin chop, and tortellini carbonara. The portions were huge and you could definitely split. The dishes were very good. They did take quite a bit of time to come out to us though. For dessert we got the Tiramisu, which was fair, but I was expecting it to be a bit better. I have been proudly going to Cafe Tiramisu since 1999 and consistently year over year. I would normally give it a 5 rating, but this go round I unfortunately give it a 2. Last night's food was great as always, the new interior is exceptional. The dining room and bar were packed...took 45 minutes go get our food. They need more staff. My girlfriend and I like to eat at the bar, as we enjoy sitting next to each other and enjoy the increased noise from everyone talking and enjoy talking with the folks around us. Last night the noise was out of control, mostly because of the group seated next to us...3 ladies and one guy. For 2 hours + we listened to them talking and screaming at an excessive volume. What made it worse was the cursing and the often dropping of the "F" bomb. At one moment one of ladies was yapping loudly about her ex-husband and called him a "MotherF______"...unacceptable behavior to scream it out so your bar neighbors hear. Bartenders Ben and Brandon serve great drinks. However they let this behavior continue and worst, it was obvious that this group was heavily drinking. After 2 hours I politely asked this group to chill a little, especially with the F Bombs. They were belligerent to me in response. I went to the owner with my experience...he listened but I dont think he did anything about it. Last nights dinner experience was one I have rarely ever had. I felt like our server did not care to be involved at all. Starting from the basics, we saw everyone had a bread basket but us. I also ordered steak and frites, and had asked the server if I was able to get it well-done (I know some restaurants do not like to) he said yes thats fine. Upon slicing the steak, it was still pink and not well-done. I could not even let the server know as after our food was delivered, the server NEVER came back to check on us. The person serving us water came more than the actual waiter. I had to switch food and eat the chicken and gave my steak away. I would not even say it was busy as even when we received the bill, the waiter did not come back until 10-15 minutes later to retrieve it. I am honestly dissapointed. I loved how private the restaurant was because there were these screens between the booths that made your dining experience special. The inside was also very elegant and dimly lit. We chose this restaurant because everyone talks very highly of it, so we had to get the famous spinach alfredo. I got it with pollo alla paola and my partner got it with grilled shrimp. I was able to get mine without prosciutto because I don't eat pork so don't be afraid to ask because many of the choices here had prosciutto. It also came with a lemon sauce that I wasn't a fan of and was a little strong. The shrimp order was a custom order. The menu consisted of different variations of mostly chicken with their spinach alfredo along with a few steak, pork chop, and fish options. The food was very filling but could use a touch more of seasoning. We got a side of creamed spinach but it was more like sautéed spinach on a plate of milk so I wasn't a fan. The burrata came out very fast. The plating was nice, and even though I have experienced burrata that was smoother; this was delicious. For my entree I ordered their Pollo Ripeno and I am glad I did.l! The chicken was perfectly cooked but what made the chicken even better was that it was stuffed with Italian sausage and mozzarella. It was paired with homemade spinach linguine (that you could tell was fresh) in a pesto cream sauce. I was only able to finish half the dish. When it was time for dessert, my table ordered the tiramisu. I'll be honest, I've had better tiramisu. The lady fingers weren't dense at all. The texture of the cake was not at all what I would expect tiramisu to be. I was disappointed by it. Lastly, I was also disappointed by the service this visit. Tiramisu has been my favorite restaurant for years. Just went to the new location and although it's a beautiful place to eat, the noise level is terrible. Also there are too many tables and chairs so you can barely move around in there. My wife and I decided to try somewhere new for our 24th Anniversary and found this place. It is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in Raleigh. The service was fantastic, my water glass never even got below 1/2 full and Binh our server brought extra bread without even having to ask her, excellent bread too. I had the Chicken Piccata and my wife had the Scallops with risotto and both were excellent and stayed hot the entire meal. We didn't have any drinks but they do have a full bar to choose from. I'm already talking about this place to people at work today and ready to go back again soon. The only bad thing is that it's small, which makes it s bit louder than usual, but that's very small compared to how good the food and service is. When you go in you're immediately transported to an intimate, candlelit ristorante with lovely music playing in the background. The service is superb. The waiters help each other so you don't wait for cocktails (which are delicious), bread, or wine orders. They take time to tell you the daily special (sea bass the night we went) and answer questions. Food is good. It's hard to find amazing Italian in the Raleigh area. This place gets some things right and others less so. The seafood is cooked to perfection (mussels, scallops) and so are the meats (chicken and stuffed pork loin). I also sampled my in-laws risotto which was soft, well flavored and the right mix of savory and fresh. The pastas and sauces were where it fell flat for me. The cream sauce for the mussels and the Alfredo sauce on the fettuccine were just bland. The picatta was subtle but good. I'm Italian. Born and raised. While I understand that in the US you don't quite get "authentic" Italian food that easily and it's more comfort fusion, I learned to enjoy the experience. BUT this is one of the farthest from Italian food, in any possible way. I am not trying to be mean but it was just gross. I was there for another restaurant week and had the autunno salad; shrimp in a lobster cream sauce and the almond joy pie. The salad had mushrooms, tomatoes and feta. The shrimp were huge and there were seven of them on the linguini. The flavors are so good and the sauce was creamy. The Almond Joy Pie is so delicious. Service is so attentive here. Celebrated our 19TH wedding anniversary by having dinner here. Was a fantastic choice! We loved the cozy ambiance of the restaurant, as it reminded us of the eateries in Europe.
