Thumbs up for their good old fashioned burgers. Eat here! Heck of a deal at 1.50 for one scoop of Umpqua ice cream in a waffle cone

Better that 138 grill. If you want a basic burger and fries you will be thrilled. Don't forget the ice cream.

The interior is like a western diner with cowhide booths in an Americana style. Both the restaurant and the restroom were impeccably clean! The staff couldn't be friendlier and the service is outstanding. I had a French dip sandwich. It was delicious! Tons of tender roast beef on a fresh roll with wonderful au-jus. The french fries were piping hot. My husband had a deli sandwich which he said was delicious. And his onion rings were top-notch. Finally, the prices were ever so reasonable! If you're looking for friendly service and delicious food at reasonable prices give this place a try! You won't be disappointed.

We were seated immediately, and our coffee and waters showed up almost instantly (always a great sign ). The place is a bit dated, but in a charming, homey way. I actually loved it -- cute decor and even a small jewelry area to browse while you wait... although "wait" might not even be the right word because the food comes out fast! My husband went with the chicken fried steak, and I ordered French toast from the light menu. We usually split a meal, but today we leaned into both sweet and savory -- and I'm glad we did. Everything was delicious, no complaints at all. Service was quick, friendly, and on point. Our coffee cups never hit empty, which honestly deserves its own gold star. Would I return? Absolutely. This is one of those spots that feels like a local favorite for a reason -- and now it's one of ours too.

The menu has pretty good variety. I ordered the Stuffed Poblano. The description looked like it was missing something so I ordered cheese to go on it. Flavor-wise it was ok. The chicken wasn't seasoned very well. There was a huge amount of sweet potato cubes with it. I like sweet potatoes but it was just too much and overpowered the dish. The temperature of my food wasn't hot but just warm...was it sitting around on the pass too long? I didn't like that but I didn't go to the trouble of sending it back. My husband got the Beans and Rice with the chicken breast on top, like what came on mine. He liked his well enough. Our other friend is a wanna-be-healthy guy and a vegetarian so he got Trust Your Gut. It had avacado, sauerkraut, tempeh, and...I don't know what else. You can scrutinize the picture if you want. He liked his. But since I'm the one giving the star rating, I'm giving it a 3. If we are ever in Cottage Grove again I want to try somewhere else.

I called ahead to make sure they were open and they said they'd be open till 3pm for breakfast and brunch. We arrived @ 11am and were hungry for breakfast. This is a small town known for being a timber community, so we weren't expecting anything fancy, just a good traditional American breakfast. The restaurant itself seemed old and tired. The grime stuck on our table top had been there for a while, you could tell it hadn't been properly cleaned for at least a couple days, at least. (While writing this review, after the fact: I should have noticed the Health Score, listed on their Yelp page. You'd think they would actually deep clean, sanitize, and thoroughly go through their inventory after getting detailed feedback like that...) We were patient, not in a rush at all, just in need of some good food. The laminated menus were sticky. Our coffee was weak. I ordered a veggie skillet with sourdough toast. Our waitress asked how I'd like my eggs, which surprised me, so I said over-medium. I received scrambled eggs with lots of cheese and a scarce supply of veggies over potatoes, with a side of plain white toast. I was also served spoiled blackberry jam. I was told the Brother's Skillet was 'better than Denny's' so that doesn't say much... Ugh... overall it made me feel grossed out, sad, and disappointed.

I moved out along the River one year ago and discovered the Narrows shortly after. While I may be one if those progressive, feminist, environmentalist, mask wearing transplant types, I knew I had arrived when Jenna, Cris, and the gang began greeting me by name when I walked through the door and also remembering my orders. Yep. If you can get past yourself long enough to chat with the locals you learn some interesting things, make some colorful friends, hear some memorable stories.
