The feed available and such is fine, however the conditions the birds are provided in this shop are terrible. Cages filled with poop, no toys, and small cages. All the chicks and ducklings are confined to one small tank and the fish tanks are overcrowded/uncleanly. Was disappointed to come in looking for pet food to find these conditions :( read more

I hadn't been to this place since the 90s probably. I went to see what kind of food they had for pet birds. I was so bummed to walk through the store and see the way their parrots/birds are treated. There is a cockatoo with one single toy in its cage. It also has electrical wires all over the cage. There were also 2 Indian Ringneck parakeets in another cage with literally zero toys and they had electrical wires all over their cage as well. Lastly there was a small finch living behind the counter in a cage that is smaller than some shoeboxes. I'm not some extremist animal activist but these conditions are totally cruel and unacceptable for intelligent birds like that. They need enrichment. The cockatoo has plucked all of the feathers it can reach as they do when they are bored and miserable. These birds are not chickens. I asked to speak to the owner as I'd rather talk to people like humans used to do before just leaving a negative review. The lady who claimed to be the owner said tons of people complain that the birds aren't being taken care of properly and she didn't seem to care. She even said the SPCA has been called and they haven't done anything so it must be fine. If you're against cruel treatment of animals...and who isn't? Then I'd avoid giving this business your hard earned money. It's obvious this business has had opportunities to do better for these animals in their care and they just refuse to. read more

It is your standard feed and pet store. Has a lot to offer and you can get vaccines as well as flea medicine for your pets. They also sell chicks, which is also great. Staff is super friendly and I believe the owner is super old, but he has a chair in the front that he sits at and it was just great to see him there. read more

This business hosts pet vaccine clinics every weekend but does not allow customers to use its own parking lot. They have a parking lot attendant directing people to either park on the street, or on the other side of the neighboring building (in other businesses' parking). Would like to note there are very clear "no parking" signs on the street. This is Laurel Drive, after all. I went on the other side of the neighboring building as directed and saw multiple signs indicating that parking there was for customer use only and unauthorized vehicles would be towed...so basically Collier Feed and VIP pet care do not want to provide parking but want us to occupy that of other businesses. I wonder if an arrangement has been made between these businesses? I'm sorry, but with two dogs and two small children, I will not be walking around buildings now will I be doing business with Collier feed and VIP pet care. I would choose zero stars if I could, as I was unable to get the service I set out for. read more

This is actually a zero star review. From the moment I stepped out of my car until I got back in. In these trying times, I would think that all businesses would appreciate having customers, but apparently not this place. I got there about 15 minutes before they opened this morning, and noticed an employee waiting by their front door. At 9 am, a car pulled up with a man and a woman. I thought they were customers, but it turned out that they were the managers (hopefully, they aren't the owners, because that would be really SAD!). I got out of my car and wasn't really paying attention because I was looking in my purse for my mask. All of a sudden, I hear, "NO, NO, NO... NOT THIS DOOR!" I finally realize that she is talking to me, so I say, "Oh, that's okay, I'll wait for you open the big door." She mumbles something about the computer, having to turn it on. I wait 5 minutes more (not bad), and then the man and another employee come out to open the big door. Open it is, and they don't even acknowledge me, or say it's okay to come inside. Inside I go, and look over at the woman, and say, "Good Morning!" in a cheerful voice. She begrudgingly replies hello. I swear if she didn't have a mask on, I would have seen a snarl. Nobody asks me if I need help. I proceed to pick out kitten food and walk towards the man, who is now sitting in a chair near the front door. I ask him if they have cat litter. He says in the most rude tone, "Ask the woman, don't ask me!" That was it! I walked to the back and put the bag of kitten food in the shelf and walked out! I wanted to tell them that is if this is how they run their business, they will not get MY business, but I bit my tongue. Now I'm here because I want to warn others out there about this SAD SAD SAD pet store. Their only saving grace is the two friendly resident meowzers (cats) that roam around. Very cute. But not cute enough for me to return if the humans in there are just SO DARN MEAN. read more

This place used to have a very different atmosphere. I've shopped here three times in the past four months and each time it's the same: total indifference toward the customer. In addition, things are poorly labeled and confusing. Often it's impossible to know the price of something without asking staff. I had brought a feed cart with me to load my feed and as I was about to load the feed, Tom took my cart back to the front of the store. I was shocked. i walked out mortified. Good products but the employees are not very helpful and the animals they have in the store are in bad condition. Dave's hay barn is 100% better! I recommend going to Dave's hay barn. Dave's has all the same products, but cheaper and the employees will pick up the items and put them in the car for you and their animals are running around free and happy. read more

Collier is a great local spot for either the farmer or apartment dweller who loves animals. We tend to come mostly for the weekend vaccine clinics. Every Sat and Sun from 2:30 to 5:30 they hold a low cost pet vaccine clinic in the back parking lot. $18 for a rabies shot. That is great. No Vet bill, No doctors visit, just cheap and easy. They have a huge selection of farm pet supplies too, hay, feed, chickens, cats, rats, you name it and they have it. Yesterday they had a pen full of doves! Enjoy! read more

I'm so irritated that I had to pull over and review. I give this place ZERO stars. I just came in to get a small bag (24 oz) of hay for my guinea pigs. The bag, and ALL the other bags are marked $5.99. I came to pay and the kid says it'll be $7.67, and I ask how is it so much when the price tag says $5.99. He says it's an error on the tagging, and I tell him ALL the bags are marked $5.99. I'm ready to pay and say "You are going to honor the $5.99 right?" He flat out says no, it was an employees error and he will not honor the marked price. Not even an I'm sorry ma'am but I can't, or anything. Don't get me wrong, I know they don't have to honor it, but the way you deliver the message to a customer makes a HUGE difference. I would've paid the extra dollar but he was so rude about the whole thing. I walked out, and I'm never returning. I suppose the business is not needed. read more

Man, I go to Collier's weekly! They always have what I need, especially for my snake. They are super convenient for me. There is one things that I would just love to see some major improvement on, the service. EVERY SINGLE TIME, I acknowledge the older gentleman and NOTHING! It can be a simple hello or I can ask a question and NOTHING! Today I went in for my usually, a mouse and I went to the back like always. Stood there for a minute or two. The older gentleman came back to do some work and I politely said "Excuse me sir, who could I ask for some help?" Again NOTHING, not one word, and I know he heard me he looked at me. I HATE leaving bad/low reviews, today just really rubbed me a different way. I always just let it go and it's nothing but idk why today was different. The workers (younger gentlemen) are always very friendly, never had any issue with them. This store is great. Prices, location, pet services, I mean they have it all. Well almost all. I just wish the owner (I'm assuming it's him and his wife) would just be a little friendly or at least answer people when they ask a question. I don't write very many reviews nor do I go to Collier Feed much as it's not a very welcoming place. I was in the area Saturday and called to see if they had 15 lb bags of Purnia Apple and Oat Horse treats and they stated yes 1. I went there and purchased the 2 bags they had plus a 50 lb bag of steamed rolled corn. The price for the corn about $2-3 more per bag from my regular source Tractor Supply and L.A. Hearne. I put the corn Saturday night in a container it was dark so didn't pay attention to it but was very disappointed Sunday morning when I went to feed and entire bag was moldy. I'd thrown my receipt away and bag so I just threw the entire 50 lbs away. I decided to call them Tuesday as Monday was a holiday and just tell them they needed to check there supplier as I purchased a moldy bag from them. She got rude and stated no one else had complained. I told her my loss as I threw the receipt away and trashed it.......never again Colliers....My to go places L.A.Hearn and Tractor Supply where they treat you like family and better prices. The prices are decent for feed but unfortunately the service is far from friendly. I walked in and three employees passed by me, never greeted me, nor offered to ask if I needed help. Once I gathered my items I was in a short line but the woman manning the check out desk was quiet rude, seemed to be disorganized, and was yelling at an older man (another employee) repeatedly. Finally, it was my turn and she answered the phone and continued to help the person on the phone while I was standing there, patiently waiting for her to ring up my things. Then, the older man was doing something on the other side of the store, she ran over there, still yelling mind you, and assisted him. She returned to check me out, never asked a question. Gave me the total and took my card. The woman behind me caught me in the parking lot and said " What a rude woman". Therefore, here I am, sharing my experience. I love colliers. It's a feed store, so you can get all sorts of random things here. Like monkey chow. (rodents love the stuff).. When possible, I try and shop at colliers instead of the major pet chains. The people there are really friendly and helpful. Plus they gave my baby sister a five dollar gift certificate for bringing her guinea pig in for their halloween contest. My rat Curry also came from here, and I knew it was love at first sight when the lady brought her out, she looked straight at me, and peed in my hand. Unlike most pet stores which only carry things for dogs and cats, this store ranges in farm animals as well. Very useful when relatives from Prunedale need to stock up on some ducks and chickens. Dollar chick day anyone? They also carry feeder mice/rats for a decent rate, ~$1/pinkie, for those of you who have reptiles. read more

Regarding vaccinations. I dont know who they use, but 5 years ago we lost a dog one week after her rabies booster of liver failure. Two weeks ago my husband took another dog there for a booster shot, and now, 1 week after this dog is going through the same thing. She is at the vet overnight having a blood transfusion. Praying she can be helped. Colliers is a great place, but i wouldnt never take any pet there for vaccines. read more

I came into this pet store one week ago today and purchased a hamster. It was my daughters 8th birthday present, she has been asking for years for a hamster and did lots of research on the breed she wanted and kind. She fell in love with a dwarf hamster from your store, we asked the employee and owner the exact breed as some breeds are better with children than others, only to be told it's just a hamster, even the owner said he didn't know the breeds. Since it was a dwarf and what we were looking for we bought him. My daughter specifically wanted a male hamster as they are less aggressive, and we purchased one from the cage clearly labeled males. We wake up today to find four babies in the cage, clearly not a male. I am very disappointed in the lack of knowledge the employees had on the animals, and I am now forced to take care of 5 hamsters until we can separate them from their mom and find the babies a home. It is devastating to my daughter as now she wants to keep ALL the hamsters as any child would. Thanks for 4 problems Collier. What was supposed to be a happy occasion turned Into a big problem. All of our due diligence/ research in knowing we wanted a male to ensure we got the perfect pet for our home went down the drain by your carelessness. Appreciate you responding below, but my question still remains what corrective action is Your company taking? Soon I will have to buy another cage to separate the male/female hamsters as a result of your company telling me I was buying a male hamster, when in fact it was a pregnant female. Are you supplying the cage/materials for this? I should not have to pay out of pocket for an error your company made. read more

The people here are friendly enough. I get my duck and chicken food here. I donated a couple of ducklings and got a big bag of free food.

I've recently started coming here to get treats and food for my dogs. They have good selection of products for all types of pets plus they also offer vaccinations which is a big plus! I'll be coming here more often as my little pup absolutely loved the dog cookies they sell. Defiantly recommend this place if you have a pet. read more

The prices are higher than any other feed stores in the area and the animals they have in the store do not seem cared for (chicks with clogged behinds, featherless/stressed out parrots/stressed adult hens in the back/ and dead fish in tanks). Came in over a week and got 2 bunnies . 1st off the employee didn't know if the bunnys where girls or boys , didn't know how old they were and didn't k ow the breed . About 9 days go by after we bring home our 2nd bunny . I wake up and look in the cage she's dead . I grew up in 4H and have raised rabbits in the past . I'm not sure what happened to her but I wanted to call them just to let them know the others that are still in store could be sick ... I never asked for money back and could care less about it .
