My best friend and I are planning to go to bartending school in the very near future and coincidentally a few weeks ago I was going to get food at the Ethiopian market/restaurant a few doors down and happened to see this store! I've driven by it so many times and never knew it was there. Today I decided to come back and stop in just to see what was inside, but also to potentially find a book or books that were good for beginners and that could help me get started on my journey. I've been a server for the past few years, so becoming a bartender is definitely the next step up. Gabbs was so helpful and so friendly! She answered every question I had and recommended quite a few books that she felt would be good for me. I ended up going with The Bar Book and I am excited to read it and also come back for more! I'm pretty excited for this new chapter and step up in my career in the restaurant and hospitality industry, so I can see Collins & Coupe definitely being my new go to store.

    Bitters wall part 1.

Holy Wide Array of Bitters, Batman! An amazing selection of bitters, garnish, and stemware. I can't believe I just discovered this place. If you are setting up, or expanding, a home bar... I can't over recommend this as a stop. I was first helped out by Shelby (sorry if I butchered the spelling), who was incredibly helpful. You are able to pick out 4-5 bitters and they will set up a tiny sample to smell and taste then pick out the 2-3 you're buying.

So over due for a review update of the greatest shop in my town: Collins & Coupe (insert gospel Choir erupting in worship song here). We have taken two cocktail making classes, made new friends, acquired some cool recipes, bought some neat tools and enjoyed wonderful drinks in the last few months. I really encourage everyone to get on the mailing list, buy a gift card, visit the shop, support local business, talk to Gary, talk to Logan, you will fall forever in love. Check out our pics from the last event, truly a wonderful experience. We walk away happy and wiser ; ) each and every time. I tell everyone about this place.

Best knowledgable people around town! Thanks for the equipment much love! Gabs helped me pick some glassware for a cocktail competition and straws to match. Taylor mentioned some great Italian sodas to try and I got some new sugar to make syrup with!

I've been meaning to check out Collins & Coupe, San Diego's new bartender supply store, so I dropped by a few Saturday's ago. The place is very small, slightly dark - despite the large front windows - and done up in old timey workshop décor. The hipster décor notwithstanding, the store is quite nice. It's a mix of vintage glassware and modern bar tools. There also was a huge assortment of bitters available. A small fridge had a selection of top-end mixers. There are bottles of Small Hand Foods syrups, but I was disappointed that there was no Small Hand orgeat. (Out of stock, perhaps?) In the back of the store is a jukebox. If you have a quarter, the selection of music is widely varied and really excellent. The glassware shelves along the front and side had some nice vintage sets. I was tempted by a pale blue set with a Maxfield Parrish style nymph on them. The collection of Tom & Jerry cups was very extensive. There were a lot of 1960s/1970s kitschy glasses. I was, however, disappointed by the selection of tiki mugs. Meager at best. The thing that I liked best about the store was the selection of bartender's tools. Way too many people throw around the word "curated" these days. But I found that the tools selected were indeed curated - really the best of each tool. The best hand juicers, the best Oxo measuring cups, the best Hawthorne strainers. If you're a pro bartender, you likely use these already. But if you're a home bartender - or are trying to be one - the selection of tools was excellent. The day I was there, there was also a tasting of Nostrum shrubs. Lucas was pouring tastings, with sparkling wine or sparkling water. A small table and chairs by the window was filled up with neighborhood folks enjoying the shrubs and plate of homemade cookies. I bought a bottle of the tasty pineapple-turmeric-ginger shrub and left with a delicious oatmeal cookie. Yeah, you could get much of what they sell online, but shopping there was such a delightful experience, you owe it to yourself to stop in.

    The drop off!

Some things are priced well, while other items have me questioning the price... like a basic chair for $200?! The store is HUGE, so there's a lot to look through. I also enjoy the ice cream, which is a nice treat after walking around the entire store. Another plus is the parking. There's plenty of it, and IKEA shares the shopping area with Lowe's and Costco, so it's convenient if you're already in the area running errands. I enjoy coming here to browse, walk around, and find home decor inspiration. You may not find a deal on everything, but there are some good finds if you take the time to look.

I came here for some Oftast dishes which are a lot like corelle dishes but much less expensive. I did find the dishes I was looking for but I had a time finding my way out of the store. Signs pointing to the exits actually do not take you to the exit right away. The signs will take you to what feels like going through a Disneyland turnstile line. Just when you think you're getting out of the store or onto the Disneyland ride you've got a whole other roundy round or two to get through and lots of other goodies to see. Cool stuff here if you have the time and patience. I'll definitely be back. I love my dishes!

I stopped by for my usual favorites, and the number one item on my list is always the beef bacon. It's hands down one of the best products they carry. Yes, it's a little pricier than traditional bacon, but the quality is outstanding and well worth every penny. Plus I don't eat pork so it's a staple in my home. An added bonus? Save the beef tallow after cooking--it has so many great uses in the kitchen! Another reason I love shopping here is the produce section. Today I picked up raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries, and every package looked fresh and beautiful. Unlike some warehouse visits, I didn't have to dig through multiple boxes just to find a good batch. This is also my go-to spot for heavy cream and buttermilk, especially since I make homemade bread. The prices are excellent, and they consistently have the larger sizes I need. One thing that really sets this location apart is the customer service. The greeters and cashiers are always welcoming, friendly, and genuinely personable, making every visit enjoyable. I also appreciate that the Business Center is much less crowded than a traditional Costco warehouse. Most shoppers are business owners grabbing what they need, so it's a much quicker and more relaxed shopping experience. Their early opening time of 6:45 a.m. is another huge plus, and although they close around 6:00 p.m., I never feel rushed if I'm already inside finishing my shopping. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favor and pick up the beef bacon. Trust me--you won't be disappointed. You can thank me later!
