I foolishly backed into another car and used Cologne through my insurance company, and I'm so glad I did! How satisfied was I? Their work and service was so good that I sent in another car (victim of a hit and run while parked) less than a week later. Throughout the process for both cars, Luis was very communicative keeping me informed every step of the way. Additionally, they offered pick-up and drop-off service from my house which I especially appreciated during the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon drop-off, I watched from my window as the driver used a wipe to disinfect every surface he had touched. What's more, both cars came back cleaned and polished; frankly, cleaner than either of those cars have been in years. Well, that's all extra... The actual work itself was flawless. The work is thorough and professional. Both bumpers were dented and knocked out of place and are now looking like the day I drove them off the dealer's lot. Cologne Auto Body was and continues to be a top-notch highly professional auto body shop. I say continues as I have been using them since around 2004 after my wife had a severe auto accident in our '99 Audi A-4 Avant. I happened to be at the local Acura Service department (our other car) when I received the call from my wife about the accident. She was OK thankfully. I didn't know where to have the car taken, but the Acura service manager recommended Cologne as they used them for much of their own bodywork on cars when needed. I called and spoke with Dieter Willms who happened to be the owner. He was soothing, professional, accommodating and helped us through the traumatic process. The damage was quite extensive running over $15K (2004 dollars)! Thankfully, we had insurance. When the car was completed after a few weeks, it looked as good as new! I am a detail guy and I could not find a single flaw in their work. About that very time our twins were born and because of its smaller size, we had to part ways with the Audi and bought a new Toyota Sienna AWD minivan. Through the years since then there were minor incidences and when any paint work or minor body issues were needed, I always went back to see Dieter. If insurance didn't cover the issue, he always figured a way to save me money, yet maintained the highest professional quality for which he was noted. A number of years have gone by and I had not (thankfully) needed to visit Cologne until I found a door-check issue that had been fixed awhile back ago and was once again causing issues. I called to make an appointment to see Dieter. Sadly, I found that he had retired and a new owner Luis Leiva was available if I would like to meet with him. Well I figured a new owner would sadly tell me it had been too long to expect them to take care of the issue. But, I am delighted to tell you I was mistaken! Luis looked at the problem and scheduled a time for me to drop it off. A few days later the work was completed professionally and there was no charge! Wow, I was impressed. Additionally, Luis presents a similar caring, soothing and professional demeanor very much like Dieter did. We still own the 2004 Sienna van with only 111K miles on it and our "twin babies" are now 16 are learning to drive it! Being a Tahoe Ski van, I recently I noticed that the roof of the van was no longer shining as it once did (sand and water had abraded the clear-coat). So I brought it in and Luis recommended a full re-paint of the roof. It was a bigger job than I anticipated, as to do a professional job, the roof racks and sunroof had to be removed which involved lowering the headliner in the van. Well, because we lacked any insurance for this job, he gave me a reasonable price and added extras at no charge. Imagine my delight when I picked it up! It was detailed in and out, looked fabulous and he had even repainted the roof rails and polished the yellowing headlights! It looked like a new van! Another added plus is Luis's crew seemed like a well-oiled machine, working in harmony, each with their individual responsibilities and all of them demonstrating pride in their workmanship. His shop is clean, well organized and presents a highly professional appearance. I was going thru my insurance after minor fender bender on my 2008 Jeep Cherokee and having had a nightmare experience with a previous body shop (Collision Auto Repair). SHAME, shame Dieter......and Cologne Auto Body Dieter is the king of cutting corners....this is clearly an ongoing and pervasive practice... over an entire career--- not just once. My dad had his classic car painted there a few years ago. It supposedly had a "restoration" by Dieter... according to the receipt anyway... which was to include new hardware, paint, rust repair, and perfecting the body (gaps, dents, and dings). Since then its been garaged and undriven... until I inherited the car. The "cut and buff" was only done in easily accessible areas (low on the panel or near the bumper wasn't done and lemon peel is OBVIOUS). At best it was just incomplete... still needing polishing anywhere you need to kneel or get low. When the car was painted, his folks never even cleaned in the cowl area... the leaves and debris have a fresh coat of paint! The masking left a lot to be desired too... lots of overspray on things that should be chrome... or Rubber... or GLASS!!! As I am now cleaning and preparing the car for the road, I am now having to do the rust repair. The receipt said the rust was "treated" (painting foil tape and body filler isn't a repair or even a treatment... its shady--- and was charges LOTS to do it)... Seam sealer "painted" over crusty rust is no repair OR treatment... Gluing carpet over a rusted floor is no repair, but at least it's hidden from plain view. Sheetrock screws holding trim and body panels in place, seriously?!?!? No professional body shop with ANY pride would do such a thing... and then try to hide it by painting over them... they charged for NEW & CORRECT hardware, but all it was is "NEW HOMEDEPOT." My favorite, when I removed the rear seat to clean the car in preparation of actual and REAL repairs... I found the paper bag that had been lunch...The masking paper and tape with the paint overspray... and an invoice from a paint supplier for the paint used on my car (paint code matches my car)... with Calogne Auto Body as the purchaser.
