If you're in the mood for lackluster pizza, this is the place. I picked up 3 large pizzas (plain, pepperoni, and veg) which cost $53 including tax. Service was just okay. As you can see from the pictures, the pizzas were medium-sized at best and had the blandest crusts to ever exist. Pies of disappointment. After a very long night of venturing around the city trying to find places to eat during the Eagles play off game, we found Colonial Pizza here on Yelp. We are visiting Philly from Texas and not used to the big city. We stumbled into the store, ordered in person for takeout and was greeted with smiles, patience and politeness. My go to place when I'm in town. I have only had the cheesesteak and pizza and can say each time I had them they were delicious. The crust of the pizza is ideal not to thick or doughy. Best cheesesteak in West Philadelphia, top 10 in the whole city. Buffalo chicken, philly special, classic, they're all stuffed with flavor on the best bread in town. The other stuff on the menu- wings, fries, pizza- are all good as well, and most of the area is around the same price point for appetizers and such. Definitely more worth it that some places just because the portions are great and leftovers are a certainty! Most recently I got the spaghetti with meat sauce and the platter was huge. Took me 3 tries to finish the whole thing and the sauce was flavorful, the spaghetti wasn't over cooked and it was a great choice for take out! If I could give Colonial zero stars I would right now! They just charged me $10 for a dollar corner store cheesesteak. I called to let them know that I was unhappy with my cheesesteak And I was told that the bread is now a little bigger but the meat is already accounted for. It's supposed to be 8 ounces of meat so he says, but as you can see here that can't be true! Not to mention even if it was 8 ounces, $10. If you're going to charge people $10 for a cheesesteak and you say your bread is bigger now you would be better off charging a little extra and giving them the product that they're used to. I have never had a cheesesteak so skimpy from Colonial. With bad customer service included! This is not my first terrible experience with Colonial lately. I ordered what used to be one of the best Strombolis in the neighborhood but when I received this one, it tasted like they opened a can of the cheapest nastiest most aluminum tasting tomato salt and put it directly in the Stromboli, no seasoning no nothing. I've eaten here a lot over the past year, as my partner lives but a block away. Their pizza is awesome, like really awesome. Especially when it's piping hot when you live a block away. Our go to-s are definitely their Hawaiian and Supreme. I got their Colonial Gourmet burger before too, but without the thousand island dressing and it was really good too -- great for your standard corner food store. Sandwich wise my go to is their Colonial special chicken cheesesteak -- hard to go wrong with tomatos, cheese, green peppers, pepperoni and mushrooms on a cheesesteak! Last week was the first time they messed up my order -- but we were in a rush so we couldn't call them to correct it. We ordered 2 Colonial chicken cheesesteaks , and received 2 colonial BEEFsteaks which was a super bummer since we recently stopped eating pork and beef. Ordered my food and paid. When I looked at the receipt when the food arrived there was an additional "Misc Food Item" charge of $1.15 added. When I called to inquire what the additional "Misc Food Item" charge of $1.15 was, i was told it was so they could round up the total to make it even. The person said it was a common charge and there was no additional food item ordered. I don't know if you guys are eating at the same place, but the pizza I ordered from here was by far the worst pie I have ever had. I didn't think that you could screw up something as simple as pizza so badly, but Colonial managed to do the impossible. The pizza, to sum it up, tasted worse than the worst you can find in the pre-packaged frozen food isle. It was luke warm (guessing that's because the delivery took over 45 mintues), overly cheesy and greasy, and I was convinced that the crust/dough was completely artificial. Fresh ingredients? Yeah right, try freshly thawed. Oh and the side of garlic bread--let's just say I'd rather eat cardboard. I am never ordering from this place again. Not even their other dishes. Worst pizza experience I've ever had Waited 25 minutes for two slices of pizza. Then they said they didn't have one of my slices (which was the plain slice) and I paid for two pizzas and got one. Ever since I moved to Philly, I never had a good pizza such as Colonial. Their slices are not too rouh or soft, but just right. The cheese is incredible. I am so used to NYC Pizza, I would of thought that a replacement is impossible. This is one of the nicest pizzas in West Philly. read more

Well, this review is long over due. Just some background info about myself, I like to think I'm a wing-aficionado. And I can absolutely say with confidence that Colonial has the TOP WINGS in the city. I've eaten wings from pretty much all over, and nothing beats Colonial's bbq wings. They are meaty, nice size, and most importantly, the bbq sauce is directly on point. Also, Telly (the owner) is a stand up guy. We have a good rapport. Get this, he even recognizes my phone number when I call in. BEWARE- dont order online. The website charges extra for menu items plus an additional online order fee. I wasn't aware of this until it was brought to my attention by someone at the restaurant. Telly confirmed that the prices were higher and that he didn't understand why ppl wouldn't call and place the orders to save themselves a few bucks. Cheese Steak: Colonial takes the lead over Greek Lady (another fav place of mine to get a classic Philly Cheese Steak (PCS). My order is fairly normal for a guy who was raised here: Chicken CK, black pepper, ketchup, mayo, mustard, fried onion, and toasted roll (emphasis added). The toasted roll just sets it all off. I always get an order of onion rings-or cheese onion rings when I've run a few extra miles at the gym that day. Simply put, there's nothing more I can say other than I'm glad to have found my default restaurant for those days/nights after work and I'm in the mood for something flavorful and a wonderful staff.
