We stopped in here as one of the first stops on our flavors of Philly food tour. We had the upstairs room privately to ourselves for the tour. The history behind this place is great and the tomato pie was absolutely excellent. So unique and you really don't miss the cheese. We all enjoyed it a lot.

Slice of plain, the staple of a pizza place.

This pizza place suffers from what many do, gauging prices for pizza that sits out waiting to be bought. It seems busy enough as to where you wouldn't have old pizza, yet it still tastes like yesterday's pie. The crust is hard, and poor texture. The sauce is lacking flavor and slightly on the sweeter side. The seating area is normally well kept and clean. Service/Staff are always very polite and friendly. A slice is almost $5 which is egregious for this quality. Neighboring competition in center city ranges from $2.50 - $4.00 Randazzo's or Zio's would be better options, and far more affordable. Garlic knots are merely bread with a bit of finished Parmesan cheese. Would 'knot' suggest, barely any garlic flavor, or any flavor at all.

simple classic pizza place that's perfect for grabbing a quick slice! i got a bbq chicken slice and my friend had a sausage slice. my slice was rather dry, but my friend enjoyed his sausage slice. he said it reminded him a little of nyc's dollar slices (but it was more expensive than a dollar...) staff was friendly, the seating reminded me of diner style. we opted to eat in the dining area, but it was quite dirty and smelled like a restroom. i will most likely not be back unless it is to grab a quick bite out of convenience.

Was able to try a hoagie after recommended to try this place. It was above average for sure but not super memorable. The roll was fresh as were all the ingredients, but it was a bit bland. Maybe no or little condiments or seasonings. Not spectacular but a decent place to order from. Price was a little high but it is decent quality food. Good size hoagie as well. Will try the pizza next and adjust if needed. Thanks

Joe's Pizza is what I needed for a late night. One of the places you can get late night pizza in the city. They sell pizza by the slice and it comes out piping hot and fteature several different toppings of pizza. Service was great and has an old school style feel to the restaurant.

Been walking past Joe's bright and early at 10:30AM after I finish hot yoga for a little longer than 2 years now. I finally caved in and grabbed a slice while I was waiting for my ride. 10/10 crust, toppings and size was on point. Was so fresh as they just had opened. Would reccomend to a friend, will be back again. Great pies my friends.

Very very nice. Pizza is super good but the garlic knots are a little thick and over cooked.

Pizza is pretty good for New York style. I have had better pizza but had to try this iconic joint. So it was worth the wait.

Our server apologized for a delay in taking our drink orders. She was attentive the rest of our meal. I ordered a Charles deGaulle whiskey cocktail. Lemon, aperol and simple syrup added a refreshing twist. For entrees, my wife ordered the pacherri; a simple pork ragu with tender broccoli rabe, Parmesan, stracciatello and basil. The dish was delicious. I enjoyed my plate of sea-inspired tonnarelli nero. Bay scallops in crab ragu with fennel sofrito. Served with squid ink pasta that imparted a slight brininess. The pasta was cooked pangrattato style-- coated in panko bread crumbs and garlic. The dish had many flavors but they all came back to the theme. Cocktail prices and entree prices were very reasonable. They offer happy hour drinks and specials. Certainly a very good choice if you're in the area.

The short rib over polenta was probably my favorite thing on the table - it fell apart easily and the polenta underneath wasn't as heavy as I expected it to be. We got the salted caramel budino for dessert too, and I was glad it wasn't one of those desserts that's so sweet you can only handle two bites. Would go back honestly. Probably order something different next time just to try more of the menu, but I'm getting that ricotta again no matter what.

I personally would order this as my meal if I could. room temp, oily, good crunch to soft ratio. Judion Beans: good beans. they are on a similar wavelength as butter beans. honestly I get them for the table for the extra bowl of oil at the bottom to dip the crusts in. Creamy Oregano Salad: very interesting. small shaves of mushroom and fennel. very slight bitter taste. oddly addictive. the olives were my favorite part. i'd consider these friendly olives to those suspicious of olives. and the olives are cut in halves, so easy to pick out. so are the mushrooms. easy split for a table of four. beyond that i'd get two. *ADD ON* pickled chilies: very good. I suggest adding this to the pie. they are green, spicy, delicious, absolutely lovely. Corn Pizza: all together very delicious. my favorite part are the cherry tomatoes on top, which I would really like to be an add on option to other pies. they are the perfect flavor and size. i'm not particularly a tomato fan, especially whole. these are a rare exception. Classic Pizza?: solid, no notes. good as always. My only wish is that they offered a sauce to dip my crust in. they have very good crust, perfect ration of crispy and fluffy. just needs a sauce. Overall, great service, the manager greeted us to check on our meal, our server was attentive, the vibe is great inside.

Makes it a great spot for a pizza date night. The pizzas absolutely are the star and they care about the quality that they put out. I've never had a pizza that wasn't within their consistent standard. The corn pizza, when in season, is a stunner and a reason to go on its own. The small plates are all delicious and if you like wine, the list they have is really strong always. All of the above said, every single time I go I see the bill and I say to myself, "oh that was a little more than I thought it was going to be." Has it stopped me from going back? No! And I don't think it should be a deterrent, but good to keep in mind. Like I said, the food is so great and the staff is as well. As a whole package, though? 4-stars!

We got the gnarlic knots which were decently tasting, but since it was to go, we didn't check it before it left. Fortunately, I got booked on a flight out the next morning and found a hotel in the city. Other than running to a drug store, my only other time leaving my hotel was to grab dinner at Pizzeria Vetri across the street. I enjoyed the food, the service, and the ambiance. I was immediately seated upon arriving to Pizzeria Vetri. I was asked if I wanted to sit at the bar, at a table, or at the pizza counter. I chose the pizza counter so that I could watch staff making pizzas. As I was there on my own, the serving staff continued to stop by and check on me. The menu includes neopolitan pizzas (12" feeding 1-2 people) and metro pizzas (28" feeding 3-4 people). They make pizzas, calzones, antipasti, and salads. I chose a Neapolitan-style pepperoni pizza consisting of pepperoni, tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh oregano. It was quite filling and absolutely delicious! They also sell pizza kits so that you can make your own pizza at home. Pizzeria Vetri was created to celebrate the art of authentic pizza making. They aimed to create simple food made exactly the right way using the best and freshest ingredients served in a space where all are welcome.
