We've been eating Colonna's for years without issue. Last month, my party of 12 got the worst food poisoning that lasted everyone a week. It was so severe, we all contacted the health department. They frequently support the community with different fundraisers, and the inside is nicer than you'd think for a local pizza shop. If you're feeding a crew of people, the XL pizza is the way to go here. It's the size of a Costco pizza, without being as heavy or bready, and it's definitely enough for four real adults. Some say Colonna's is NY-style, but this is good pizza spot from a suburb in Colorado. It is not Grimaldi's, Roberta's, Prince Street, Juliana's, or even Joe's. It's still good, but it would not win awards anywhere near the boroughs. The specialty pizzas here are great, and they'll split them half and half if you'd like. My birthday fell on a weekday workday so a birthday feast was going to have to be something delivery. We decided to try Colonna's by ordering the garlic knots, a stromboli, & the Meatball Hero. I think a true review of a pizza place has to come by trying one of their pies so the jury still feels a bit out on this one. However, my husband and I both very much enjoyed our orders which didn't skimp on meats or cheeses. I love pizza joints that offer clazones, & other pizzaesque offerings besides just pies. I stopped in to order a Meat Supreme calzone. I've ordered this calzone before and it was delicious. This time, I was disappointed. There was way too much cheese and smaller portions of the meat. I love the calzone crust around the ingredients, but I ended up eating about half the calzone after removing all the cheese. I have a simple family with simple pizza needs. I ordered a medium pepperoni pizza for my son and I, and it was exactly what we needed. Actually, it was huge and more than what we needed, but will eat for breakfast :) It was delicious. I didn't realize they offered pizza by the slice, so we will try that out next time. Colonna's is it. It is the chosen one. We are NYC lifers who moved to CO over the summer, and we have suffered greatly for our transgression. We have tried several "pizza" joints over the last several months, and none of them have come even close to anything in NYC, not even those 99 cent slices. After catching a whiff of the garlicky aroma emanating from the Centennial location during a bubble tea outing (shout out to Mini Moo's), we decided to check it out for our long-standing, years-long Pizza Friday tradition. Lo and behold, Colonna's has a location slightly closer to us, in Parker! After browsing their website, I was sold on the photos alone. At long last, I was (hopefully) going to be reunited with my sweet, sweet NY-style pizza. And reunited we were. We ordered an XL cheese pie, a half dozen garlic knots, and mozzarella sticks. Ok, so this pizza is seriously craveable. We had a large pie with pepperoni and extra cheese. Let's talk about cheese... it was super cheesy! We probably didn't need the extra cheese, but who can say no to more cheese?! (I'm so sorry if you are lactose intolerant, that would be one of the worst things that could happen to me) I'm not sure what blend they use, but it's a great balance of yummy goodness. The pizza was HUGE. I was naively expecting a pizza delivery sized large, but this thing was larger than large. My husband and I took home over half the pizza and we were both hungry! So we ate leftovers tonight and it was still absolutely delicious. I wish the restaurant was closer to our house, we would make it a regular dinner spot.
