My cat is difficult when it comes to having her nails done. Coplets was great with her. I intend to have them back on a monthly basis.

What keeps me coming back is the friendly customer service, careful handling and how thorough they are! My dog really loves the owners and the groomers. I book my dog's appointments online - they send out reminders and text notifications when grooming is almost complete. Our last three visits have been frustrating, but this final experience was the breaking point. I brought my Border Collie in with very specific, detailed instructions for a "pet trim" to improve her comfort and hygiene: Detailed scissoring and blending on the legs to avoid blunt, choppy cuts. Thinning shears to reduce density on her tail while maintaining the "flag" look. A "tunnel belly" and sanitary trim for cooling. Instead of the skilled scissor work I requested, they took the absolute "easy way out." They finished her entire grooming in 30 minutes (it usually takes an hour), and when I picked her up, she had been shaved to a 1/8th inch "puppy cut" all over. For a double-coated breed, this is devastating to their ability to regulate temperature. When I called to address this, they claimed I asked for an "all-over trim." In what world does a request for a blended, functional trim result in a total shave-down? To make matters worse, the staff member hung up on me, saying they were "really busy" and offered zero accommodation or apology for ignoring my instructions. It is incredibly disappointing to see a business treat a long-time customer with such blatant disregard. They clearly prioritize speed and high turnover over actual grooming technique and customer service. We will not be returning.

It is like having your family doctor that you trust and are so consistently thrilled with. Unfortunately, when the new management took over issues started to pop up all over the place. When, I started taking my dog to Life of Riley, there was an open door policy, you could walk in and drop off your dog or pick your dog up. There was also a mirror up front to see what was happening in the back. First, they added a buzzer, so you could here when someone came in. Then, the door was locked all the time and you needed an employee to let you in. Why would a groomer have a locked door policy? My groomer, Betty, left and other groomers are following suit. Recently, I made an appointment for Hermoine to get groomed. Please, remember, I was a regular customer for 3 years! (every 6 weeks or 9 times a year) My groomer was 15 minutes late and my dog and I waited in the car. When she arrived, there was communication issues with groomer. I didn't feel comfortable leaving Hermoine there with this groomer. I was really disappointed, since I had such a wonderful experience with Betty. My dog and I left and Hermoine was not groomed. I will not be going back. Thank you to Brittany, who came out to the car to talk to us, about our bad experience. Please, look at the recent reviews. I can not recommend Life of Riley and I really hope the new management takes all of the negative reviews into consideration and makes, some much needed changes.

We have brought our two dogs for grooming at Life of Riley Rockville for 3 years, but after this…read morelatest visit we no longer will be customers. A health issue occurred with one of our dogs following his grooming appointment in mid-October. A few days after the groom we began to notice some scabbing on his skin, and two days later he was unfortunately covered in brown scabs with clumping hair. He went to the vet and was diagnosed with a skin bacterial infection. He had to be prescribed both daily antibiotics and a medicated shampoo. Following treatment his hair is also now spotty in a few places which has never happened before. A few days after visiting the vet, I reached out to Life of Riley Rockville to inquire what occurred during the grooming appointment that might have led to this skin infection. Both of our dogs were given the highest rating possible on their grooming report card, so I must conclude that either the groomer was too rough or failed to properly sanitize the supplies used during the appointment. The first email went unanswered, so I followed up a week later to see if it had been missed. That follow-up email has also gone unanswered. At this point given both the incident that occurred with our dogs and the non-existent acknowledgement and communication in the aftermath, I must recommend you find another dog groomer in the area.

Danielle is friendly and reliable and most of all - she does a great job. We always go with a short cut on our Maltese for ease of maintenance and Danielle's cuts are very consistent. Our dog always looks the same, which is a big positive in my book. Other groomers have delivered inconsistent looks when we simply wanted the same haircut. The convenience of the mobile service is hard to beat too. It's a little more expensive than service at a brick and mortar building, but it's worth it in my opinion. You won't regret going with this business for your furry friend's grooming needs. Highly recommended. ***In the post-grooming photo of my pup, he'd had a recent vet procedure that resulted in a stitch in his forehead and a partially shaved right leg. Most groomers do multiple dogs at once--and your dog sits in a cage in the meantime. Not great. Maria is working with just one dog --yours--from start to finish--so it's way less stress for your baby. I should also mention that Maria is the best, kindest, most competent dog groomer in the DMV. Full stop. If you have a small dog, don't even *think* about going anywhere else! Not only will your furbaby be gorgeously groomed, you will have the peace of mind of knowing he is being cared for by 1) someone who genuinely loves dogs, and 2) is also incredibly talented and experienced. I don't trust my little guy with anyone but Maria.

When I arrived there was no record and they didn't know I was coming. Ended up giving me a tour and when I asked if I could do the evaluation for my dog, they said they needed vaccine forms. Ok, fine, but would have been nice if they had told me that ahead of time. Not a big deal, but I took note of poor communication. 2. We work out the vaccine forms. Not sure what happened as Healthy Hound told me my dog wasn't up to date. Ok, so I call the vet and ask to get him updated. Vet says he IS up to date. Fine. Weird and a waste of my time, but fine. 3. Get the evaluation scheduled now the vaccines are sorted. They tell me I have to sign a form beforehand. Ok, done. When I arrive they tell me I have to do it again. Ok, no big deal but am noticing they just seem overall unorganized. My dog is dropped for the eval and I let them know he's a herding dog who loves to run and he does bark. They say no problem we have lots of dogs like that. Great. 4. They call kid way thru the eval and say my dog passed but "because he is a puppy can they give him breaks?" I ask what a break looks like and they are sort of vague and not making sense but something about protecting him from fights because he runs a lot and the other dogs get worked up. So I ask if he got into a fight? They say no, they caught it before it escalated. So I ask for clarification: what is the break they want to give him? They say they want to put him in a secluded room from 12-2. And upon my insistence, they finally admit this break is to give the other dogs a break from my dog. I know my dog is a lot of energy, so I get that, but the point of sending him is to have him USE the energy. I can crate him at home for free. So I'm already thinking this isn't a good fit. 5. I go pick up him up two hours earlier than I have to because I'm. It feeling this. I was required to put a credit card on file and assumed that would be how I would pay. Long story short, that's not the case and they wouldn't give me my dog. Now, I understand I have to pay. That's good biz but the poor communication just feels like a dealbreaker. They seem so unorganized. Caveat: from what I understand there was a system change and I suspect I have just fallen thru the cracks, it happens. But calling to tell me my high energy dog who I'm sending for him to be able to run and play needs to be secluded for two hours of a five hour session and how they tried to spin it like "he's a puppy he needs a break" feels like something we aren't going to recover from given this is my first impression. Super bummed. Really wanted this to work.

We are happy to say that the issue was resolved to our satisfaction. While it took some time, we are thankful that it was ultimately addressed in the manner that we had come to expect from our past positive experiences at Healthy Hounds. Despite this particular situation, Healthy Hounds is one of, if not the best, daycare/boarding facility in the area and it would have been very difficult to find another suitable alternative. --- REVIEW 10/28/2025: We've been loyal clients of Healthy Hounds for years, bringing our dogs for daycare, grooming, and boarding -- trusting them as a key part of our pets' well-being. They have long been accommodating of our dogs' special needs, including caring for our blind dog with neurological deficiencies and our senior dog's TPLO surgery restrictions. So imagine our surprise when our recent experience took a shocking turn. Our senior dog -- a regular, well-loved guest at the Rockville location -- was suddenly banned from all services because he is undergoing chemotherapy for mast cell cancer, a treatment he receives once every three weeks and may continue for life. This policy was never communicated, written, or enforced during the many months he has been receiving chemo. He has been boarded six times and attended daycare weekly since treatment began, with full transparency on our part. Not once were we told this was an issue. We're not upset that Healthy Hounds wants to protect dogs -- we're upset that they handled this situation poorly.
